Problem statement
Flipkart, Amazon, Snapdeal are the favourites of the students at IIM Lucknow.
Students have been ordering actively on these e-commerce websites due to easy
inaccessibility to the city. Almost every item is just a click away. However, the issue
arises when it comes to picking up the parcel from Gate 1, 2. I received the order on
the 28th of November, however was able to collect it only on the 1st December
because I was never available at the time the guy came, says Meghna Singh, PGP 1
student. The parcels usually come between 11am to 4pm, when students are
attending classes. Hence it becomes difficult for them to coordinate and collect the
same.

Consequences of the problem

Because of this, the student may either have to ask a friend who is free to collect it or
collect it after a couple of days.

Proposed Solution and its execution

a. Hire a person at Rs 7000 a month (negotiable). He will work from 11 am to 7
pm, Mondays to Fridays.
b. Allot a small room, preferably near Gate 2, for storing the ordered items
c. The person will collect the orders and store them in the room.
d. He will send an SMS to the respective student confirming the delivery of the
item.
e. The man can then deliver the parcel to the students room as per convenience.
f. The student will be charged a nominal Rs10 for the same.
g. If the student is expecting a COD parcel, he/she will pay the person in advance
and the man will pay it on the students behalf. The student will be charged Rs
20 for the same.
h. The idea can be extended to the professors and other staff of IIM L as well
