Anh ng
!Dear brothers and sisters
Knowledge plays an important role in human life. People will not develop and reach the peak of
civilization or achieve what we are witnessing today without knowledge. To place a great importance on
knowledge and learning is the reason for the prosperity of many civilizations throughout history, and the
lack of appreciation of science and knowledge is the cause of decadence and backwardness of many
peoples. Knowledge is a measure of prosperity and development of a society or any nation in the world.
Hence, a community or a society without knowledge and scholars will live in illusions and sink in

darkness.

Chanlyislam

Since the beginning of Islam/ from the dawn of Islam; this religion has promoted the importance
of knowledge. This is expressed through the First Revelation that Allah has revealed to our Prophet
Muhammad s.a.w. as He said:
:} {
.5-1

Read! In the Name of your Lord Who has created (all that exists). He has created man from a clot
(a piece of thick coagulated blood). Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous. Who has taught (the
writing) by the pen. He has taught man that which he knew not [al-Alaq 96:1-5]
Knowledge is not only like what just mentioned, but also its more important than everything.
No doubt and no wonder, knowledge is among the important things which Allah directed Prophet
Muhammad to pray that he will be granted more of it. Allah said:
.111 :} {

"And say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge" [Taha 20:114]

Islam has considered seeking knowledge is a sacred duty in religion. It is obligatory on every
Muslim, male and female as our Prophet Muhammad used to tell us that:

" "
Seeking knowledge is an obligation on every Muslim. Al-Tirmizi.
Knowledge is the lamp illuminates the way and it is the guideline that people could use to
facilitate and conduct the affairs of their lives. If people have the knowledge they quite understand what
they should act, they have adequate information to solve any problem as well as they could differentiate
between right and wrong. Through many different verses in the Qur'an we find that Allah has
appreciated the value of knowledge and has praised those who have knowledge in many places in the
Quran as He said:
.82 :} {

It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allah [Faatir 35:28]
11 :} {

Allah raises of those who believe and those who have been given knowledge many levels.
(Al-Mujadilah 58:11)

Say: Are those who know equal to those who know not? It is only men of understanding
who will remember (i.e. get a lesson from Allhs Signs and Verses) [al-Zumar 39:9]

Dear respected brother and sisters!

Please proceed/ hasten earnestly/urgently to the special gifts that Allah intended for those who
have knowledge by broadening understanding and deepening knowledge. In order that we worship
Allah correctly, do deeds which please Allah and avoid what angers Him, We should try to gain
sufficient knowledge to enable ourselves to understand the essence of the teachings of the Quran and
the Sunnah and to bring us more closer to Allah, sincerely fear Him, implement what He commands and
avoid anything He prohibits in the Qur'an and the Sunnah which are considered as two precious
treasures not eroded by time and the pride of every Muslim. They are a symbol of the religion of Islam
and Islam is Quran and Sunnah.
Whoever is given guidance for understanding the Quran and the Sunnah he is the person really
been given a precious gift as the Prophet has said:

" "
When Allah wishes good for a person, He makes him understand the religion. (al-Bukhari)
Whoever is given a taufiq (guidance) for seeking knowledge he is the person really been given a
path to Paradise as the Prophet has said:

"
"

Whoever treads/ follows a path in seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him the path to
Paradise. (Ibn Majah)
It should be reminded here that; be honest (ikhlas) in seeking knowledge, because seeking
knowledge is an act of worship that requires you to keep your intention sincerely for Allah alone and
none else, seeking His pleasure and reward. Do not seek knowledge to be commended or to show off or
compete with others or for other worldly purposes are not for the sake of Allah. Therefore, our beloved
Prophet had warned that:

. "

"
Whoever seeks that knowledge which is (usually) sought to seek the pleasure of Allah in order to
gain some worldly benefit, he will not sense the scent of Paradise on the Day of Judgment. (Abu
Daud)

He also added:

" "
.
Whoever seeks knowledge in order to show off before the scholars, or argue with the foolish or to
attract peoples attention, Allah will throw him into hell fire Ibn Majah.
