LISA COHEN
FOUNDER/PUBLISHING DIRECTOR
Art and design are the twin passions of Lisa Cohen. She
studied art history at Barnard College from the architecture
of the ancient Greeks to the modern works of artists such as
Milton Avery, with a special love for the Old Masters. She held
the staff positions of assistant architecture editor atHouse
Beautifuland columnist atInteriors, while earning certification
and a designer associates degree at the New York School
of Interior Design. After having four children, Lisa was the
home editor ofDuJourmagazine for two years. She has built
an eclectic art collection and was the creative force behind
several homes in New York, New Jersey and Palm Beach.
Art permeates and influences design from homes to fashion,
and Im so excited that with this magazine we can showcase
artists from around the world, Lisa explains.

SUZANNE SLESIN FREDERICO FARINA

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

Suzanne Slesin has been involved in the field of home design as


an international journalist since the 1970s. Born in New York
City, she has degrees in the History of Art from Wellesley College
and the Courtauld Institute of Art at London University. For 17
years, she was an editor and reporter for the Home Section of The
New York Times and has been design editor of House & Garden,
the editor-in-chief of HomeStyle, and the Editor of O at Home, an
offshoot of O, the Oprah magazine. Slesin has also co-authored
over 20 books on design and home furnishings, beginning with
High-Tech: The Industrial Style and Source Book for the Home, and
the innovative and trend-setting Style Books that include French
Style, English Style, Caribbean Style, and Japanese Style, all published by Clarkson Potter, a division of Random House, Inc. In
2002, Slesin founded Pointed Leaf Press to publish high quality,
photography-driven monographs on personalities in the worlds of
design, architecture, fashion, and art.

CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Frederico Farina is the creative director of Pointed Leaf Press, an
independent design, fashion, and art book publisher. Previously,
he has been the VP creative director at Ann Taylor and Ann
Taylor LOFT, the VP creative director at Rivet, an advertising
agency in New York, as well as the director of visual communications at Cole Haan. Farina began his career designing for various
magazines, including Metropolitan Home, Mirabella, and Interview.
He has been the art director for numerous fashion brands, such
as Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Bottega Veneta, Versace, and
Abercrombie & Fitch.

Weier is currently Director of
Fundraising for Cobble Hill
Playschool and lives in Brooklyn
with her husband and two children,
Natasha and Roman.

Jill Carvajal is an accomplished publishing
executive with a vast array of experience in
international media. Carvajal began her career
at News Corp in retail advertising, rising quickly
to the role of General Manager of New York
Post Digital. Carvajal founded Front Row
Communications where she worked with such
clients as IMG (now William Morris Endeavor)
to start up a new division where she was
founding publisher of The Daily Front Row and
fashionweekdaily.com for IMGs Fashion Week
events. There she also launched publications for
the U.S Open with Evian, and for the Miami
Open. Carvajal has represented clients such as
The LA Times, The Daily Beast, V Magazine and
Flaunt in similar regard. Her most recent projects
include the launch of Yue, a publication aimed
at Chinese luxury consumers for the New York
Observer Media Group, as well as founding
XOP Media, publishing Dufry World, a Brazilian
luxury magazine where she remains Publisher.
Carvajal received her B.A. in 1991 from
the University of Maryland, College Park
in Journalism and Urban Planning and
Development with a minor in Business
Management. She and her husband Carlos, a
litigation attorney, live in New York with their
two daughters, Alexandra and Chloe.

MELANIE BROWN

Melanie is a seasoned publishing


industry veteran, having spent 25
years in sales and management.
Her experience spans a wide array
of magazine categories, where she
built an extensive rolodex across all
sectors of business. Most recently,
Melanie enjoyed three years as
Associate Publisher of Surface
Magazine, which was pre ceded
by six years at House Beautiful, as
the Beauty, Jewelry and Health
Director. Earlier in her career, she
was the Advertising Director of
several niche magazines: Hearst SIPs, HomeOwner and Beauty
Magazine and Walking Magazine, a Readers Digest publication.
Melanie graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston,
Illinois with a major in Communication Studies. She lives with her
daughter and Yorkie Chon puppy in Armonk, New York.
