Features of Model VLA

Low Price with Simple Structure
Since model VLA uses an LM Guide as the direct
base of the actuator unit and has fewer
components, a simple structure, small weight and
compact design are achieved. As a result, a low
price actuator is realized.

Long-term Maintenance-free Operation

Lightweight, compact type LM Guide model SRS*1,
which provides a significantly high performance
through adoption of ball cages, is used in the linear
motion guide unit. In addition, the ball screw unit
is attached with QZ Lubricator*2, which is capable
of minimum and optimal lubrication. As a result,
long-term maintenance-free operation is achieved.

With model SRS, use of ball cages eliminates friction

between balls and allows the following effects to be
obtained.
1) Low noise, acceptable running sound 4) Excellent smoothness
2) Long-term maintenance-free operation 5) Low dust generation
3) High-speed response, long service life

Eco-friendly and Highly Energy-efficient

By replacing a conventional air cylinder with
Motored Actuator model VLA, the customer can
eliminate exhaust noise and achieve high energyefficiency and energy saving without contaminating
the environment with lubrication oil mist.

Productivity
Several manufacturers of motors can be assembled without additional flange according to your
control specifications.

A Motor of a Different Manufacturer Mountable

You can choose an AC servomotor to mount on
the actuator from several manufacturers according
to your control specifications.
Note: Mountable motors may be limited depending on the dimensions and the
capacity. See page 13-14 for details.

High density fiber net

Flow of lubricant

Oil controlling fiber net

1) Substantially extended maintenance interval

With ordinary grease lubrication for a ball screw, slight amount
of oil is lost as the ball screw travels. Attaching QZ Lubricator
supplements oil loss over a long period and allows the
maintenance intervals to be significantly extended.
2) Eco-friendly lubrication system
QZ Lubricator feeds the right amount of oil to the right location
with a high density fiber net, making itself an eco-friendly
lubrication system that dose not waste oil.

*3: Laminated Contact Scraper LaCS

Contact scraper

Liquid

Large amount of
foreign matter

With a laminated contact structure (2-layer scraper), LaCS

removes minute foreign matter adhering to the LM rail in
multiple stages to prevent it from entering the LM block.
Low noise, acceptable running sound
- Since 2-layer scrapers are in full contact with the LM rail,
LaCS is highly capable of removing minute foreign matter.
- Use of oil-impregnated expanded synthetic rubber with a
self-lubricating capability achieves a low frictional resistance.

Note 1: With the 300-stroke type of CT55, the rated speed is 470 mm/s as calculated from the critical speed of the ball screw. If the stroke is shorter, the
actuator can be operated at 1,000 mm/s at a maximum. However, the service life may be shortened.
Note 2: Model CT is capable of receiving only an axial load. The horizontal mass capacity is the value when an LM Guide is also used and no axial load is
applied to the rod. When making a selection, take into account the sliding resistance of the LM Guide. For specific sliding resistances of LM Guides,
see the general catalog.
Note 3: The values apply at acceleration of 0.3 G.
Note 4: The value applies when the actuator receives a load and operates at the rated speed and acceleration of 0.3 G.
Note 5: The specifications apply to the actuator mounted with each size of a standard motor in page 13. If a different motor is used, the actuator's
specifications are different. Also note that the rated values of the actuator unit must not be exceeded.

Precautions on Use
Handling
When using the actuator, carefully read and fully understand the Instructions Manual for Low Price Actuator Model VLA, and be sure to observe the
precautions on use.
Dropping or hitting the product may damage it. Take much care in handling the product.
Disassembling the product may cause entrance of foreign matter or deterioration of accuracy. Do not disassemble the product unless it is inevitable.

Installation Site
Do not install the actuator and the driver in the following places.
Where ambient temperature is out of the 0 to 40C range, ambient humidity is out of the 20 to 80% RH range, condensation occurs, or corrosive gas
or flammable gas is produced.
Where dielectric powders such as iron powder, dust, oil mist, cutting fluid, water, salt or organic solvent is produced or flies.
Where the product may be exposed to direct sunlight or radiant heat.
Where strong electric field or strong magnetic field is generated.
Where vibrations or impacts transmit.
Where inspection or cleaning is difficult to perform.

Actuator Mounting Surface

The actuator must be mounted on a machined plane or on a plane with accuracy equivalent to that of a machined plane. The flatness of the
mounting surface must be within 0.1 mm.

Instructions Manual
The Instructions Manual for Low Price Actuator Model VLA can be downloaded from

.

Safety Precautions
Never touch the moving member of the actuator while it is energized.
Do not enter the operating range of the actuator when it is operating or operable.
When installing, adjusting, inspecting or maintaining the actuator, driver or related equipment connected to either of them, be sure to disconnect all
power plugs from outlets, and lock them or prepare safety plugs in order to prevent non-operators from turning the power. Additionally, place a notice
indicating that the product is in operation in a place where it is easily visible.
When two or more persons operate the actuator, confirm the steps, signs and anomaly handling in advance, and have another person observe the
operation.
Thoroughly read the JIS standard General Safety Rule for Industrial Robots (JISB8433) and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfares Ordinance
on Labor Safety and Hygiene before operating the product, and strictly observe these rules when operating the product.
Carefully read and fully understand the Instructions Manual for Low Price Actuator Model VLA, and be sure to observe the precautions on safety.
