Genesis of religions.

Col ® Mushtaq Ahmad

I have been receiving many E Mails in recent past in which our

friends have been advocating that the way Namaz is being offered is not part of
Islam. That it has been introduced in Islam later on under the influence of other
religions. To answer these I thought it appropriate to search for the Truth and then
answer. I have taken help from History, Quran and findings of modern
thinkers/scholars on the subject. I have divided this article in to following sections.

1. Introduction
2. Comparative Study o Religions.
3. Teachings of Holy Quran.
4. Thoughts of Mr Ghulam Ahmad Parvaiz to whom most of the writers refer.
5. Conclusions.

My dear Parsi friend Faridoun Spencer, who sent a very long mail on the
subject should see the truth as well. There is much more that can be written on this
subject, but the aim is to clarify the misunderstanding, not to malign anyone.

1. Introduction

Some people propagate that Namaz/Salat is not compulsory in the form

Muslims all over the world practice these days. They argue that it can be replaced by
some kind of praise to Allah (Hamd). No need for congregation of Namaz, or going
to mosque just recites Hamd and the obligation of Prayers is met. There thoughts can
be summarised as under.
* Namaz was introduced in Islam by Imams who had Persian background.
They think that praying amounts to following Parsi/Majoosi methods that
were not part of Islam. That Namaz was introduced later under the influence
of old Iranian Religion.
* Some say that it was influence of Hazrat Salman Farsi that Namaz is
offered, the way it being done now a days. Some say that four Imams of
Sunni faith devised it under Iranian influence.
* Some think Fasting is too cruel in modern life.
* Some think Hajj is waste of time and resources.

* To answer these let us make it clear that Hazrat Salman Farsi came to
Madina and converted to Islam, whereas Namaz was made obligatory when
Prophet was still in Mecca. So that claim does not hold the ground.
* Some people try to confuse the matter between Namaz and Salat. Namaz is
Persian translation of Salat. Saying that since word Namaz is Persian,
therefore it has roots in Parsi religion is not correct. Just as Persian
translation of Allah is Khuda. By calling Allah as Khuda we are not inventing
anything new.
2. Comparative Study o Religions.

We will first see what the historians, philosophers and students of “Study of
Contemporary religions” found out through their research and study. Those who
want to study the original Text should read the books at the end in Bibliography.
Contents of this section are findings/conclusions made by scholars. We may not
agree with them all. At the end of the article, we will conclude.

Sumeri tribes were settled in Iraq before the known history of mankind about
5000 year B.C. with Aur as its capital. Their culture was on peak when Samis from
Arab desert migrated to Iraq in search of food. They settled down in the North of the
cities of Sumeris and ultimately conquered them. In the following centuries the
generations that was born through the merger of these two races was called Babli
and Ashuri. Babli and Ashuri are called great Sami races. They developed cities of
Babul, Nainva, and Ashuwar. City of Babul was on the both sides of river Farat. The
king Hamoorabi (2123 to 2081 B.C.) made it great city. After some time Ashuris
came to power and established city of Nainwa. Banu Kid Nazr was its famous king
who destroyed Jerusalem and took Jews as prisoners to Babul. Babul was destroyed
by Hana Mishi king of Iran named Korash Kabir in 539 B.C. Thus great civilization
of Babul perished. Name Babul is derived from Bab-e-Ail – door of god. It remained
centre of civilization for 2000 years. Iraq is said to be cradle of civilisations and their
culture and religion spread to Iran and Central Asia in its times.

Saibeens.

Ashuris and Bablis are also called Saibeen, it is called the oldest religion of
mankind that is known. Saba meant “rising of stars in Arabic or constellation of stars
in Ibrahni”. They worshipped seven Stars. Every city had its own god, Sun god Bual
was one of them that ultimately replaced Ail god. With the passage of time they
started worshipping Mardukh alongwith Bual. On the name of the stars they kept
names of weekdays and kept seven days in a week due o Seven Stars. To please their
deities they used to offer human sacrifices. This religion got popularised with Arabs,
Israelis, Iranians, Romans and Kananis (Living in to-days Lebanon). Afterwards
human sacrifice was replaced with that of bulls and goats. As told earlier Arab
peninsula was abode of Samis, therefore Babli, Ashuri, Kinani, and Bani Israel had
Arab Peninsula as a common factor between them. They were influenced by the
religion, culture and traditions of Samis whose followers were called Saibeen. It will
not be out of place to mention that Greek philosophers Aristotle and Socrates also
believed in Seven Stars as intelligent beings who controlled the world.
Saibeens believed that sun god Bual created universe in Six days and on
seventh day he rested. They believed that Bual after creating universe mixed his
blood with earth to make shape of man. He then blew his spirit to give life to Adam.
They believed that this Adam lived in a garden very happily. He was taught
many crafts by the devil. There was an apple tree in the garden whose fruit was
forbidden for him. His wife persuaded him to eat the fruit. On this he was expelled
from the garden. This very story with slight changes was believed by
Majoosis/Parsis and Jews.
* Saibians apart from believing and worshipping statue of Sun god
used to circle around sacred stones and used to cover their gods with
cloth. They made worship places for sacred stones in Mecca and Hamas.
* They used to worship them by circling around them seven times.
* Before the advent of Islam some Arabs followed Saibiet. One
faction called Naji believed in God, Last day and believed in
Punishment and reward on the day of judgement. On arrival of Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) when Quresh saw Muslims praying they called
them Saibeen and later named them Mughtislah (those who take bath
frequently). Saibeen centre at that time was city of Harran.
* Saibeens used to worship sun god by offering 7 Prayers every day, at
time related to sun position. Two of them in middle of night were
particularly to beseech on god Sun to rise again so that fertility and life
of the world is preserved.
* They used to bend forward and prostrate.
* They used to ensure cleanliness of person and garments before
prayers.
* They used to take bath when in ceremonial impurity.
* They used to offer Prayer for the dead without prostration.
* Saibeen talked about 12 Burj (Zodiac) in sky. On this are based Jews
12 clans, Greek’s 12 gods and 12 Aulia of Muslims
* Alms, Zakat and Ushar were taken from them by Jews. These were
used for sustenance of priests.
* Used to fast whole lunar month.
* Used to pray with their face towards Kabaa/Mecca.
* Would not eat dead animals and blood of the meat.
* The women of relations that are forbidden to be married by Muslims
were forbidden for them as well.
* They had similar concepts of Paradise and Hell like Muslims.

Majoosis/ Parsis/Jews

Faith of Majoosiat or Parsi’s whose religion is dated 1400 years after

Saibeens (also called Zoroastrian) was improved version of Saibians. Saibians
believed in only one god Bual who was responsible for all good and bad that
happens in life. Idea of Satan was given by Zoroaster or Zartasht (600 years B.C.
whose time was after 1400 years of Saebeens - some consider him prophet) to cater
for all the negative actions by humans. He argued as to how one entity can be
embodiment of both good and bad. So he gave idea of duality, god sun for good and
Satan for bad of this world. Iranians believed in one God and never in their history
worshipped an idol. They believed in constant struggle between good and bad. They
believed that fire is symbol of Nur of God on earth. They worshipped fire. This idea
of Nur was taken up later by Muslims and others.
From Parsi religion this idea of Satan came to Bani Israel. Before the advent
of Prophet Moses, Bani Israel thought that their god Yahweh was embodiment of
both good and bad in this world. Banu Kid Nazar, the king of Babul occupied
Jerusalem and took Bani Israel as slaves to Babul. There they lived as slaves for 80
years. They were given freedom by Hana Mishi king of Iran named Korash Kabir in
539 B.C. In Babul they learnt about the story of the birth of Adam, Mother Hawa,
Paradise, Hell, Storm of Noah and concept of Satan. The word Satan came from
Habsha Language to Ibrani meaning “rebel”. Iblis came from Tiblis meaning “the
one in doubt“.
Yasiha Sani an unknown prophet of Bani Israel converted them to believe in
one God, who is master of both the worlds. It will be interesting for you to know that
period between Prophet Abraham and Moses was of 800 years. Between Hazrat
Musa and Hazrat Isa 1300 years. Between Hazrat Isa and Prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) 610 years. The Majoosi/ Parsi that were influenced by Babulians for their
religion believe in the following:-
* They prayed five times a day, according to Sun position.
* They believe that Shah Behram will come before the Last day and take
Parsis out of shambles and they will rule the world.
* They believe the souls of the dead will remain in Barzakh till the Day of
Judgment.
* They believe Fire as symbol of Sun god on earth and worship it.
* They believe in seven grades of Paradises and seven grades of Hells. In Islam
these are Eight.
* They believe in Hurs and highest grade of paradise as Firdus.
* They also believe in Pul-e-Sarat.

Followers of god Mithra / Christianity

One faction of Majoosis/Parsis, who had their origin in Saibeans worshipped

Mithra – their Sun god. For 600 years Mithrs cult remained popular in Iran and
spread to Roman Empire in 70 A.D. They prayed three times a day. When Romans
conquered Iran they took Mithra cult with them. For 300 years Mithra cult was
followed by Romans and other Europeans. It is said that if king Qanstantine had not
converted to Christianity, Europe would have been worshipping Mithra - the Sun
god even today. To popularise Christianity in his domain he included many of its
teachings and customs in Christianity. Those who are familiar with Christianity can
see the adoption of Mithra cult by Christianity by comparing the following
traditions.
* Roman Catholics pray at the same times as Majoosis facing east. Majoosis
used to observe Sun’s birthday on 25 Dec. The day sun starts its journey back
to North after going down in winters. It was called Yom-ul-Shams. Actual
birthday of Christ is said to be 6th of January, which is still celebrated by one
faction of Christianity in Greece. Roman Catholics Pope Laibris adopted
25th of Dec in 353 A.D. to please followers of Mithra.
* Saibians believed that their Sun god was born on 25 Dec when sun starts
its journey to North after going down in winters. Sun god was born out of
virgin mother in a cave. For the sake of humanity he bore many difficulties.
He was called torch bearer, intercessor, Salvatore, deliverer and bestower.
* He was overcome by force of darkness and went underground.
* He resurrected out of dead. He constructed worship places and baptized
his followers. They said that those who will be baptized with bull’s blood
will be resurrected after death.
* Saibeen had a tradition of sacred meal. They used to drink alcohol
considering it blood of god so that blessing should get in to them.
* Mithra had 12 companions and he died while serving humanity. It was also
believed that Sun god was captured, he was wounded, he was taken to a hill,
along with him went a goddess (in Christian faith Marry Magalden), his
clothes were taken away, goddess washed his wounds, he died, he was
resurrected.
* Mithra devotees eat a sacred meal called Asha-e-Rabbani (supper from
god), that was given in March. Easter was goddess of light and spring in
whose honor Easter was celebrated.

All these traditions were introduced by Pollis later Saint Paul in to

Christianity to popularise it in Europe. For this purpose omitted circumcision, he
made Sunday prominent day instead of Saturday as it was in Mithra Cult. Christians
were afraid of Mithra cult. When they consolidated their religion in Europe they
burned all their books and demolished their worship places. They killed its followers
but kept its teachings as part of new religion.

Islam.

In Islam method of prayers is like that of Saibeans and Jews. Wudhu and
cleanliness of garments is also like that. In Islam sacrifices, fasting, main prayer
once a week, circumcision, nikah, talaq, are like that of Jews. Absenting from
prayers in sate of ceremonial impurity and not touching the sacred text in that sate
are like that of Jews. Pork and intoxication are forbidden like Jews. In case of
Intoxication Jews are less strict, although it is forbidden. Most of these matters are
also like that of Saibeens. Since Majoosis/Parsis and Jews have adopted religion of
Saibeens therefore many things are common in all these religion. (These are
observation and conclusions of Scholars. They may not believe in religions and
prophets). In Islam way of calling for prayers is different from all other religions. It
can be seen that most of the beliefs and praying methods emanated with Saibeens,
travelled to Zoroastrians, to Jews and to Muslims.
.

Hindus

Hindi Arians while passing through Iran took some ideas with them when
they migrated to India. Names of seven days on seven stars is due to that. They also
pray at Dawn and at Sunset. At dawn the wording of Mantars is in praise of sun.
They also keep one lunar month fasts and call them Chandrain.

3. Teachings of Holy Quran.

Here are some of the Ayat from Holy Quran regarding Prayers/ Namaz/ Salat.
Any impartial person, can note that from all of these Ayat, we cannot deduce that
this command is any thing other then the Salat the way whole of Ummah is are
offering.

Guard strictly your prayers. Especially the middle prayer (Asr), and stand
before Allah in a devout (frame of mind). If you fear (an enemy), pray on foot, or
riding, (as may be most convenient), but when you are in security, celebrate Allah's
praises in the manner He has taught you, which you knew not (before).
Al-Baqara, 238-239

If you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you comes from the privy or you
have been in contact with women, and you find no water, then take for yourselves
clean sand (or earth), and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah do blot out
sins and forgive again and again. An-Nisaa, 43
(* it means that in state of ceremonial impurity it is forbidden to go to mosque.
However if way is passing through the mosque, then you can pass the way.)
Here Allah asks Muslims to pray even if you cannot perform Wudhu by performing
Tayammam. Hamd will not require this.

When you travel through the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten
your prayers, for fear that the unbelievers may attack you: for the unbelievers are
your open enemies. An-Nisaa, 101

It asks us to shorten the prayers, if there was no prayer like we do, then what was to
be shortened?

When you have performed the prayers, remember Allah, standing, sitting
down, or lying down on your sides; but when you are free from danger, set up
regular prayers: for such prayers are enjoined on believers at stated times.
An-Nisaa, 103

Here we can say that some kind of Hamd (Praise of Allah) can be made after
regular prayers.

O you who believe! When you prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your
hands (and arms) to the elbows; rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to
the ankles. If you are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body. But
if you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy or you have been in
contact with women, and you find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or
earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. Allah do not wish to place you in a
difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete His favour to you, that you may be
grateful. Al-Maida, 6-7

Any unbiased person will say that Namaz is ordained as we are already praying.

And establish regular prayers at the two ends of the day and at the
approaches of the night: truly, the good deeds remove the evil deeds: that is a
reminder for the mindful. And be steadfast in patience; for verily Allah will waste
not the reward of the righteous to perish. Hud, 114-115

Establish regular prayers - at the Sun's decline till the darkness of the night,
and recitation of the Qur’-an in morning prayer. For the recital of dawn is witnessed.
Bani Israil, 78
And celebrate (constantly) the praises of your Lord, before the rising of the
Sun and before its setting; and during some hours of the night, and at the ends of the
day: that you may be pleased.------------. Enjoin prayer on your people, and be
constant therein. We ask you not to provide provisions for living. We provide it for
you. But (fruit of) the Hereafter is for righteous persons. Taha, 130-132

O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the day
of assembly), hasten earnestly to the remembrance of Allah, and leave off business
(and traffic): that is best for you if you but knew! And when the prayer is finished,
then may you disperse through the land, and seek of the bounty of Allah: and
remember Allah frequently that you may prosper. Al-Jumua, 9-10

So glory be to Allah, when you reach eventide (in evening) and when you
rise in the morning; Yes to Him be praise, in the heaven and on earth; and in the late
afternoon and when the day begins to decline. Ar-Rum, 17-18

In them is He glorified in the morning and in the evenings, (again and

again),- by men whom neither trade nor sale can divert from the remembrance of
Allah, nor from regular prayer, nor from paying Zakat.. An-Nur 36-37

When you call for prayers they make fun of it. Almaida - 58( or 5-58)

4. Teachings of Mr Ghulam Ahmad Parvaiz

Some of the E Mail writers and forwarders who are advocating that Namaz is
not obligatory in its present form think that they are ardent followers of Mr Ghulam
Ahmad Parvaiz. So I decided to read Mr Ghulam Ahmad Parvaiz. My friend Mr
Maqbool Mahmood Farhat from London gave my some of Mr. Parvaiz’s books. I
have found out that these people are doing great disservice to him. I went through
one initially by the name of “Qurani Faislay Part 1”. Fourth Edition published in
1997. All the quotations down below are the words of Mr Ghulam Ahmad Parvaiz
from this very book.

Page 6 / 7
Namaz is a Persian word that is used for congregations of Salat. But Salat
means Namaz plus much more. It means that if a person abides by Laws of Allah in
other spheres of life as well, then he is performing Salat. For that time, place and
form is not necessary. But in Quran at different places word Salat has been used for a
particular action – Namaz.
In Quran there are places where term Salat has been used to describe a ritual
--- this means that the term Salat has been used for congregations of Namaz.
When there is requirement to give shape or form to one’s passion or
commitment, Quran does not stop that, provided that it does not become the sole
purpose.
Establishment of Salat (Aqamat Salat) will mean establishment of such a
society in which Allah’s commandments are followed. --- In Namaz’s congregations
essence of following Quranic injunctions comes in concise and practical way.
Therefore Quran has used term of Salat for those congregations as well.
Standing and prostration is a form of submission to the will of God. ---- In
Salat the manner of standing in front of Allah, mosques etc are practical shapes of
submission that have come to us.
With a little thoughtful reflection on Quranic Ayats, one can distinguish as to
where Salat means congregation of Namaz and where it means establishment of a
social order based on Islamic teachings.

Page-8
I, (G.A.Parvaiz) have said at many places before that no one has the right to
change the way Namaz is being offered in different sects of Ummah. That is why I
have difference with Ahl-e-Quran who has invented their own way of saying
prayers. However, I will say that if whole Ummat prays in one same way that will be
big unifying factor for Ummah.

Page - 9
Matters relating to Namaz can be solved through the method of continuation.
Since Namaz is being offered in continuation for the last 1,350 years (Now 1,427),
therefore we should offer it the same way.
Rules can change but Methods of Devine worship cannot be changed. Yes
form can be changed by Qurani Govt. This is a Philosophical debate. Since neither
that Govt is available nor there is any sign of its coming, therefore, it is superfluous
to discuss as to what that Govt will decide or what it should decide.

Page – 33
Till (Establishment of Qurani Govt) does not happen, the methods of praying
that are prevailing should be followed. Making changes in them will lead to
dissention (Tafarqa) and dissention according to Quran is Polytheism (Shirk). ------
(To a question as to how he offers his prayers) I pray as all the Hanfi people pray. If
somewhere Namaz is being offered according to other school of thought, I follow
that way.

Page -48
To introduce a new innovation in religion will amount to dissention (Tafarqa)
and that is very serious offence. Therefore people who are advocating Nine Fasts,
Three Namaz, or Namaz in Urdu are not helping the cause of religion. They are in
fact damaging the religion.

5. Conclusion

Refer to the scholarly debate in Para 2 above, what can be concluded safely
is that these similarities in prayers and other beliefs are due to the fact that these
were from the same source of guidance in all these religion. Some can twist the logic
and say that it was under the influence of one religion that the others copied it.
Saibeens, Zarthastrians (Majoosi/Parsis), Jews and Christians seem to be following
the same chain. Their religious guides who taught / guided them to a religion were
probably prophets in their own times. We believe that there were 1, 24,000 prophets
that were send for the guidance of humanity. Allah was not concerned only with
Arabs. He must have sent many to other regions and nationalities. Since the message
is universal, therefore, similarities are bound to occur.

As it has been happening in all societies when a prophet left, those people
preserved some teachings and some were modified or new gods were taken to satisfy
their urge of adulteration/ idol worshipping. See the case of Israelis. They were
taught to worship only one God but they reverted to Sun worship in Babul after
Hazrat Yaqub and Hazrat Yousaf left. As it is happening in Islam, some find solace
in graves, some do not believe is praying 5 times a day, to some fasting is cruel, to
some Hajj is waste of time and money, some call sacrifice an inhuman act but relish
eating meat and poultry.

Never did we send a Messenger before you but when he did recite
the revelations, Satan threw (some falsehood) in it (After his
departure). But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in. Then
Allah establishes His revelations (with new prophet). And Allah is
All Knower, All –wise. (Al – Hajj - 52)

It can, therefore, be safely said that, Islam is continuation of the same

teachings from the same Source. It has been made last in its annals because the
humanities had advance to a level where the teachings could be preserved in its
original form. Any similarity of rituals with any other religion does not mean that we
are copying that religion. Alhamd-o-Lillah, Quran is available to us in its original
form for guidance. It is not a new message from new divinity but the continuation of
the same old message. For all true religions same string flows from Adam to
Muhammad.
Yes, there have been influences of Iranian culture and religious
thoughts in Islam but that is separate issue. It certainly does not pertain to Salat.
Those influences are in belief about Taqdeer, Sufiism, blocking Ijtehad, some
interpretations etc. No one in his right mind can say that Namaz that is being offered
for the last 1427 years in all parts of world by Muslims in an innovation of later
period. If there was slightest doubt about offering Namaz in its present form, it
would have not been part of both Sunni and Shia sects.
It is true that mosque in early days of Islam was acting like a Head Quarter or
Presidency of today. It was hub for all Administrative, religious, social, cultural
spheres of life. Allah’s commands were enforced through mosque in daily lives and
society, and Quranic teachings were followed in all the spheres of life. If Ummah is
not following Quran in all the spheres of life, it does not obliterate Quranic orders
for Salat. If we cannot enforce Islamic order in its complete manifestation, that is our
fault not that of Allah. It does not allow anyone to say that since complete Sharia is
not being followed; therefore what little resemblance is there to Prophet’s teachings
and Islam, that should also be done away with. It is like saying that if one cannot
graduate, then he should not go to school at all and remain illiterate.
It is very clear from the action/decision of Hazrat Abubakr after the
death of the prophet, when some people refused to pay Zakat, another pillar of
Islam. He said that they are not part of Islam. If anyone does not believe in any one
of the Five pillars of Islam then he is deceiving himself and others by projecting
himself as a Muslim. If someone is inventing a new method it is Tafarqa and Tafarqa
is always to divide the Muslims further not to unite them.

There can be a debate over the Islamic Laws or Fiqah that have not been
derived directly from Holy Quran and are personal interpretations of Scholars. But if
one starts questioning all the tenants of religion and does not obey any of Allah’s
commands of Abadat (Five Pillars of Islam) then he may call himself what he may
like but a Muslim.

Salam Mushtaq

Nonetheless it seems we have somehow let this notion of "get the details from the Prophet"
(salllallahu alaihi wa salaam) slowly evolve into letting the "details" override the very Qur'an
itself.

Every sincere Muslim should rebel against this.

On 3/26/06, Mushtaq Ahmad <col_mushtaq@hotmail.com> wrote:

Dear Mr Mobashir,
Than you for your E mail.
Quran calls Muslims to pray and prophet gave the detailed procedure of the praying.
Same way as order for Hajj has been given in Quran and detailed method is derived from
the prophet teachings.
Zakat has been prescribed but the details of it, as to how much is to be taken on God ,
money, Sheep and camels have been given by prophet.
We cannot keep prophet life out to understand religion. Yes there are differences and
those differences should be solved amicably through dialogue.

You better save E-mail of Dr Shabbir Ahmad dated 6th April and this
Akhtar
Shirazi.
I am busy right up to my neck in preparation of Bazm's annual
accounts.
I will tell you about these two self appointed great scholars,
researchers
of Islam. Both touch the extreme ends of Extremism. The former has
written a
pamphlet " The Criminals of Islam" and the later wrote a 582 pages
book
with a derogatory title "The Quranic Concept of Nikah( Wedlock) VS
Religious
Prostitution. He even does not accept the very identity of Hazrat

Dear Col Mushtaq Sahib Salam-o-Alaikum
I had a good perusal of your thought provoking and well documented
article. I congratulate you on this good piece of research.
In reply to it I have intentionally deleted most text of your
article to make it a quick short reading.
I fully agree with you that there are some people over there in USA
who claim to be the so called followers of G.A.Parwez and air their
views of Namaz contrary to Mr Parwez's thoughts on Namaz. If one
does not perform Namaz that's OK- but has no right to deny the very
existence of the institution of Namaz. It is morally disgraceful to
associate such thoughts to G.A.Parwez, a great scholar of Islam of
20th century.
I suggest all participants on this forum to read at least pages 1034
to 1047 of voluminous Lughat-ul-Quran written by Parwez to get a
crystal clear views of Parwez on Namaz / Salat.
I disagree to call these people 'ardent followers of Parwez'. To
become a follower of a human being is tantamount to creation of
another sect in Ummah and this leads one to committing Shirk. Mr
Parwez strongly condemned sectarianism & would convulse in his grave
if such people call themselves followers of Parwez
You mention that Iblis(Iblees) is a derivative of Tiblis. Iblis(
root letters are B, L, S) means disappointed, frustrated. It also
means disobey, rebel, whereas Tiblis (root letters are L,B,S) is to
cover, hide, mix up, confusion.. Although root letters are same but
Iblis and Tiblis are two different words with different meaning.

Dear Col Mushtaq Sahib Salam-o-Alaikum
I had a good perusal of your thought provoking and well documented article. I congratulate you on
this good piece of research.
In reply to it I have intentionally deleted most text of your article to make it a quick short reading.
I fully agree with you that there are some people over there in USA who claim to be the so called
followers of G.A.Parwez and air their views of Namaz contrary to Mr Parwez's thoughts on Namaz.
If one does not perform Namaz that's OK- but has no right to deny the very existence of the
institution of Namaz. It is morally disgraceful to associate such thoughts to G.A.Parwez, a great
scholar of Islam of 20th century.
I suggest all participants on this forum to read at least pages 1034 to 1047 of voluminous Lughat-ul-
Quran written by Parwez to get a crystal clear views of Parwez on Namaz / Salat.
I disagree to call these people 'ardent followers of Parwez'. To become a follower of a human being is
tantamount to creation of another sect in Ummah and this leads one to committing Shirk. Mr Parwez
strongly condemned sectarianism & would convulse in his grave if such people call themselves
followers of Parwez
You mention that Iblis(Iblees) is a derivative of Tiblis. Iblis( root letters are B, L, S) means
disappointed, frustrated. It also means disobey, rebel, whereas Tiblis (root letters are L,B,S) is to
cover, hide, mix up, confusion.. Although root letters are same but Iblis and Tiblis are two different
words with different meaning.
