members & the third one for college buses & the vehicles running under the authority of
Transport Department of the university. The existing fully furnished parking area will be
changed into VIP parking area.
The project is designed keeping in mind the increase in traffic volume in the coming
three years. It is designed using Indian Standard Guidelines for Parking Design.

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

To modify and maximize the total number of parking spaces in the parking area for
the next three years.
To provide safe, convenient and efficient parking facility for all the students, faculty

CURRENT POSITION OF THE PROJECT

Preliminary Survey:

Maps and data were collected from University Officials.

Site visit was conducted along with the members of the group and faculty members.
Existing parking plan was surveyed.
Problems were noted down and discussed later on.
Plane Table Surveying:

Area of three parking places were plotted which includes the following:
boundaries of the area
obstacles (temporary and permanent)
existing parking pattern
existing unpaved carriageway
Area of plots is calculated by approximate method.
Traffic Study:
Traffic volume study under which following were calculated:
Two and four wheeler vehicles parked by students and faculty members.
Vehicles running under University transport department which includes
buses, scooter, motorcycles, passenger cars, VIP cars etc.
Data volume was calculated for one week so that variations in traffic can be taken.
Levelling:
Points of elevation found by Auto level and Staff.
NH-95 (Chandigarh-Ludhiana Highway) was taken as benchmark having R.L.
equals to 100m.
This is done to provide fine gradient (slope) for natural drainage.
