1 Scope
The DCSS is a VF controlled door drive system for the DO2000 and for the 'Modernization'-Applications. This door system is able to interface with 3 different kind of controller
types. The DCSS can be controlled by discrete signals (LCB), by a serial link (MCSS) or by
a Relay Controller. In that case an additional Interface Board is necessary to service the
enhanced amount of Inputs/Outputs. which signal voltages can range from 48V to 230V.
The selection of the Interface is done by setting a parameter in the INSTALLATION menu.

2 Safety References
Please ensure that the EDS button is reachable when a door movement is started.
Inside the DCSS dangerous high voltage (>310Vdc) is connected to several devices. The cover of the box must be closed before switching on the mains!
In case of reopening the box wait at least 1min. after switching off the power to be
sure the main capacitor is discharged!

3 Before the Installation

3.1 Encoder
The DO2000 requires an incremental speed encoder complying to the following specification:
two tracks with 500 pulses per round
phase shift between the tracks +/- 45
supply voltage 15V
Output: Open Collector or NPN Push Pull circuit
shielded cable
Use only the authorized encoder types:
Siko.....
The application of other encoders increases the risk of fail function

3.2 Power Supply

The supply will be provided in general directly by the main switch panel in the machine
room. An automatic cut-off for each door system, located in the elevator controller, protects
the traveling cable and the DCSS4 box.
DCSS4 requires a single phase 230Vac supply. In case that a neutral is not available,
the elevator controller has to be equipped with an additional transformer.
In order to protect the traveling cable and the DCSS4 box only automatic cut-offs with
class C characteristic and a limit within the range of 2.5A...4A are permitted.

3.3 Electromagnetic Noise and Interference

The DCSS fulfills the requirements, given in PREN 12015/16 under condition that:
closed encloser
motor cable shield connected at motor body and cable gland of heat sink panel
In order to avoid disturbances of the encoder signal apply only shielded encoder cables and connect the shield to plug pin P3.5.

4.3 Relay-Controller / Interface Box

To control the DCSS by a Relay Controller an additional Interface Box is necessary to
service the enhanced amount of inputs and outputs.
All inputs are optically insulated and can be driven by AC or DC sources. The voltage level
of the inputs ranges from 48V up to 240 Volts.
The outputs are potential free relay contacts which can be used either as a making or a
braking contact.

4.3.1 Inputs
Max. 8 input signals can be connected with a voltage range from 48V up to 230V AC or DC
given by the various kind of installations. To cover this wide range of voltages the inputs are
divided into two voltage ranges. One range operates from 48/-15% to 110 volt and covers
the most used signals. The other input is used for voltages higher than 130V/-15% up to
max. 240V/+10%.
To connect these signals with the "DCSS" they must be adapted by the interface box to the
appropriate voltage level of the inputs of the door system. These signals are:

note 1: the EFS signal only disables the SGSin signal

note 2: the DO signal can operate as a single command if S2 is set to 'DO'
or as a combination of DO and DC signal. if S2 is set to DO/DC.
note 3: the input 2ndProf can be used to demand a second speed profile or to indicate EFS operation if the
input is programmed in the SET_UP Menu to EFS_OPERATION = 1

The inputs SGS, 2nd PROF and NDG can be programmed either as 'high' active or
'low' active input in the Setup menu OTHER (key:3-3-3)

4.3.2 Outputs
The interface box has 6 relay outputs which are controlled by two 30V output signals of the
DCSS. The two outputs control an 8-Bit shift register, whereby one signal is the Data and
the other the Clock signal. To bring a new data to the output the according data state is
clocked into the shift register. If 6 data states are shifted in, the complete output information
is stored in the shift register. With the 8th clock the contents of the shift register is latched to
the output where a relay driver sets the 6 relays according to the data state. Simultaneous
the shift register is cleared and is now ready to be written for the next data to be shifted in.
This procedure needs max. 16x8.192ms = 131ms and the output is refreshed in this cycle
time.
The max. contact ratings are 230Vac / 8A.

The outputs are activated if the door panel has reached the programmed position. This position can be adjusted individual for each relay by setting a distance with the Service Tool in
the 'SETUP-OTHER Menu'. Except the output Relay6, which is not position controlled. This
output will be activated if a reversal is requested by the SGSinput signal and an adjustable
time delay has timed out. For further information see point 4.2.2.

4.3.3 Supply and Grounding

The Interface Box will be supplied by 230V-240Vac, PE / 50Hz.. 60 Hz via main switch and
fuse in the controller and traveling cable.
The DCSS must be connected with the 30V power line and the HL1 and HL2 return-lines of
the Interface Box.
Two Grounding Lines (PE Protection Earth) might be necessary according to local
code requirements!

4.3.4 Set Jumpers

-

DO/DC - Signal:

Depending on the controller environment the door open/close command can be either a
single 'DO' signal or a combined 'DO/DC' signal. To select the single DO command modus
the jumper S2 has to set on DO 1-2.

Encoder Interface:

To be free in the choice of encoders the output signals can be adapted by setting the
jumper S1 to 'pull up' for open collector and push pull encoder outputs or to 'pull down' for
other applications. Generally the jumper is set to 'pull up'.

5 First Installation
5.1 Starting Up Condition
The DO2000 is developed to operate under a power supply range between
230V - 15% up to 230V + 10%
Obviously the motor torque is influenced by the power supply. Due to this fact, please operate the installation procedure with a supply voltage close to 230V.
Otherwise it is not guaranteed that:
the performance of the door movement
the emerging closing forces
conforms with the desired performance and the code requirements over the whole power
supply range.
5.2 SETUP Routine (Installation)
For the first time to put the system into operation a set of Door Parameter must have to
copied into the empty EEPROM. If it is not happened the system will not run. In case of a
repeated installation this step can be passed over to avoid an unwished overwriting of the
parameter.
The parameters depends on the type of door and the type of controller.
Furthermore the wiring of the motor cable and the speed encoder can be checked and
corrected by the software if they are not in line with the direction of move.
In order to simplify the installation the complete procedure is menu-driven and is monitored
on the Service Tool. The user only needs to follow the displayed instructions and has to
confirm the requests.
The Installation starts if the system is set into the 'INSPECTION' mode and the Service
Tool Menu is set to 'INSTALL' by press the key sequence 3-3-1 with following display:
,-----------------.
| SET UP ROUTINE |
| GOON WITH ENTER |
`-----------------'
If you confirm with <ENTER> you will be ask for to set the DEFAULT PARAMETER.
For the first time you have to enter '1' to set up the parameter.
To avoid an overwriting of an existing set of parameters you can enter '2' to go to the next
menu.

and checks the encoder signals.
If the door is fully open the door starts to close again and measures the actual way of door.
In that phase the doorway will be displayed in [mm] on the display.
The user only has to start the Learn Run and to confirm the measured way at the end.
Be aware that the system is set to Inspection Mode by the TCI switch.

6 Parameter Setting
If the behavior of the door movement is not sufficient with the first installation setting, it can
be improved by adjusting the dictated velocity profile and the door width. Therefore the
'Profile Parameter' and 'Other Parameter' menu is provided.
The Engineering Parameter Menu should be used only on the engineering level to
have access to all parameters.
A detailed list of the default values of all possible door type combinations you will find in
the Service Tool Reference List.

6.1 Profile Parameter

Start Open Speed / Start Open Distance
The start and the end of a door movement are the most critical points referring
to noise. The noise results from coupling the hoistway door with the car door
and the unlocking of the door lock. To get a smooth start and to reduce noise at
the begin of the opening the START OPEN SPEED (defines the creeping
speed) and START OPEN DISTANCE (defines the length of the creeping
distance) can be adjusted.
Stop Close Speed / Stop Open Speed
Similar problems arise if the door movement is near the end of a run. To stop
the door the velocity is ramped down to the Stop Speed beginning at the Stop
Point. If the Stop Speed is too high, the doors will run into the fully
opened/closed position too noisy. Otherwise if the Stop Speed is too low, the
torque is not sufficient to bring the door into the fully opened/closed position
completely.

the

Open Stop Point / Close Stop Point

The Stop Points are the distance values measured from the start of the
decelerating and the fully opened/closed position. With reaching a Stop Point
velocity profile is ramped down to the Stop Speed to bring the door smoothly
into the final opened/closed position.
If this point is to close to the end of the run, the door crashes with high speed
into the limits. Then the distance of the Stop Point must be increased.
If the Stop Points are too far from the ends, the creeping distances will be
increased and consequently the close/open times.

Nudging Velocity
With the Nudging Velocity parameter the speed for the nudging operation can
be adjusted. It should be high enough to bring the door into the fully closed
position in any case. On the other hand it should not exceed the torque limit that
passengers can be endangered.

6.2 Other Parameter

These parameters are used to adapt the DCSS to the different kind of door types and controller types.
Some parameters are only used with a RELAY Controller and an Interface Box.
6.2.1 All types of controller:

Voltage Boost
The door motor is controlled by a Variable Frequency control. To get a constant torque the
voltage should be proportional to the frequency.
At very low frequencies the voltage must be increased, done by this parameter. With a
higher Voltage Boost the torque will be increased and the door will follow the dictated velocity profile more accurate, but on the other hand the motor will heat up.
Passenger Protection
The sensitivity of Passenger Protection can be adjusted by this parameter. To avoid an unwished reopening, forced by a deviation from dictated velocity and the actual one the slip
limit can be increased by this parameter. But a high slip limit reduces the sensitivity of the
Passenger Protection.
TCI with BS7255
According to the British Standard Mode BS7255 the control of the door move must be possible without Service Tool from the top of the car by means of the Top of Car Inspection
Box. To select this mode the parameter must be set to '1'.
(only used for Serial link interface)
MCS411: GSM-DIST
If the Door System is used in a MCS411 application a 'GSM' signal must be generated,
which is sent via the serial link to the MCSS board.
This signal should be set if the door has reached a certain distance before fully closed. The
distance can be programmed from 50 to 500mm.

6.2.2 Only Relay Controller

-

Fireman Service Operation

The Interface Board input '2nd.Prof' is used to select a second speed profile or to
recognize the Emergency Fireman Service operation if the parameter
'EFS__OPERATION ?' has been set to '1'. In this configuration a second speed
profile is not available.

Position of Door Controller Switches

The outputs of the interface box, represented by the on board relays, should
substitute the hardware switches of a door controller. To adjust theses switches the
position can be programmed by the Service Tool. The position is given in [mm].
There are following relays and the description of the parameter:

REL_5 :

note 1)

___ relay is off

REL_6 :

delay time in [ms]

REL6 is time controlled and triggered with the SGSinput signal.

The Time delay is programmable and can be adjusted in [ms].

The relay REL_4 can be switched on in the opened or closed position. It is used for cabins
with mechanical safety shoes. For other applications it should be active only in the close
position. In that case the REL_4_OPEN distance must be set to '0'.
One of these parameters is a programmable delay time for the SGS switch, which is given
in milliseconds. With this, the SGS output should be set with a defined delay if a reversal
device has been triggered.

Input Activation Level

The inputs can be set either to 'high'- active or to 'low'- active input by setting the
respective parameter switch to '1' or '0'.
With the MONITOR-INPUT function the state of the input can be checked. A small
letter indicates a non active state of a signal and a big one the active state (not the
electric one).

7 Controller Installation
[->A MCS-Controller must be set to "Door Operator=DO2000" (if not avaiable:"9550").
For OTIS-MCS applications the Interface Box is not necessary.]
