Reflection Paper on the Personal Lifelong Learning Plan

Creating the Personal Lifelong Learning Plan (PLLP) was not an easy task. It took me a long
while to formulate the activities to enhance my acquired 21st century literacies, to ponder the barriers
and challenges that would hinder my improvement and to contemplate the possible solutions or
actions in order to shove those barriers. After a depth analysis and consideration my PLLP is finally
materialized.
The first step in this PLLP was to self-evaluate my level of competency in all 21st century
literacies and Ive found out that I am weak in art and creativity as well as in financial literacy. In the
art and creative literacy, it is expected that I am adept in the arts but unfortunately it is my greatest
weakness because I dont have the skill and talent to create works of arts. Nonetheless, I believe that I
am creative enough to use my imagination to create and solve problems. Because my artistic ability is
not developed it is my responsibility to take the step to learn through attending workshops and
trainings, and by surfing the net of articles, e-books or tutorial videos on enhancing arts and creativity.
On the other hand, I have enough knowledge of financial literacy but theory or idea is not enough if
there is no application like managing money for livelihood or investment for a return profit. As of now
it is challenge because of the limited supply of cash however I am hopeful that by 2019 I may be able
to apply my knowledge on financial literacy.
The strongest literacies that I have are cyberliteracy and multimedia. I can personally assess that
I have the knowledge and skills in these literacies. I consider myself a digital immigrant but it did not
block my inquisitiveness to become techno savvy and achieved a better level of knowledge and skill in
terms of the use of ICT and multimedia. As an ICT and multimedia literate I have possessed key
knowledge, skills, and values like the know-how of searching, finding, and retrieving information from
various digital sources, organizing accessed information for easy retrieval and use, creating and
developing appropriate multimedia for easy communication of information to various audiences, and I
can protect myself from the potential risks posed by the internet and other ICT communication. Though
I have a strong level of competency on these literacies it does not mean that I will stop learning. There
are more to learn and acquire and I am hoping that this summer of 2016 I may be able to enroll to a
short computer course through TESDA scholarship.
Moreover, I evaluated myself in good level of competency in the other literacies: ecoliteracy,
social/emotional literacy, and globalization and multicultural literacy in the sense that I have acquired
the right knowledge, skill, attitude and values and I am optimistic that I am capable to apply these
KSAVs to my daily life as a teacher-facilitator in the learning process.
With this thorough evaluation of my literacies, I fully accepted my level of competency but my
weakness will not be an obstacle for my improvement. It will be a challenge, a trial to overcome and
hopefully it will become my strength in the near future as I will strive to become better and more
literate. Of course I am fully embracing my strengths and build upon them. My drive to become better
is not only for myself but for my students and society.
With the never ending changes in the society we teachers are called to do better, to be better,
and work smarter to advocate for students in ways that empowers them to affect and live with change
(Fiona Corner, 2015).
