INFORMATION KIT
The Student Activities Office of De La Salle University - Dasmarias sponsors and
spearheads the Luntiang Parangal to recognize the outstanding performance of student leaders,
campus advisers, artists, writers, athletes, councils and organizations.
As this is done annually, this event aims to provide models of leadership, commitment
to excellence, cooperation, teamwork and most of all service to others qualities that befit a
true-blooded Lasallian.
Specifically, this event aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. To recognize the contribution done by students, campus advisers, organizations and
councils who have excelled in the field of student service.
2. To exhibit the spirit of Faith by giving student leaders more reasons to actively fulfill
the demands of their respective positions for the benefit of their fellow students and
the community.
3. To demonstrate the Zeal for service by strengthening the call for student service by
recognizing the efforts done by student leaders.
4. To manifest the spirit of Communion by continuously inspiring every Lasallian to
excel not just in their academics but through worthwhile activities as well by joining
student organizations for the purpose of advancing themselves and at the same time
helping the institution attain its vision and mission.
For St. John Baptist De La Salle Award for Excellence in Leadership, requirements should be
met:
1. A bona fide student of DLSU-D since 1st year.
2. Has not committed any minor or major offense since 1st year until his/her last year.
3. No failing grade in any academic and non-academic subject since 1st year up to the
semester prior to his/her nomination.
For other individual awards, the following requirements should be met:
1. A bona fide student of DLSU-D since S.Y. 2015-2016.
2. Has not committed any major offense within the S.Y. 20152016 except for the Leader
of the Year and Cultural Arts Group Leader of the Year.
3. No failing grade in any academic and non-academic subject for the 2nd semester of the
S.Y. 2014-2015 and the 1st semester of the S.Y. 2015-2016 as certified by the Registrars
Office.
For organizational/council awards, the following requirements should be met:
1. Duly recognized/accredited organization of the university for S.Y. 20152016 as certified
by the Student Development and Activities Office (SDAO).
2. Actively participated in the area of student service.
For the campus adviser of the year award category, the following guidelines should be
observed:
1. Has served as an adviser not less than two (2) consecutive semesters (S.Y. 2015-2016).
2. The adviser shall be automatically nominated if the council/organization is also
nominated.

3. A list of nominees who made it through the paper screening will be released on February
26, 2016. A letter will also be sent informing the nominees that they are qualified for
the specific award category. The LP Search Committee has the right to include students
as nominees who seem to be qualified for the award category.
Nominees for the St. John Baptist De La Salle Award for Excellence in Leadership, Leader
of the Year and Cultural Arts Group Leader of the Year will be notified for the Panel
Interview Phase.
4. All nominees are requested to attend the awards night. Attire will be strictly FORMAL.
5. The awardee in each category is not limited to just one individual, council or
organization. Instead there will be a qualifying score of 100 points and all nominees who
were able to attain such score are entitled to the award. In cases where no one was able
to get 100 points, the nominee with the highest score will be declared the winner.
6. The interview panel for the St. John Baptist De La Salle Award for Excellence in
Leadership, Leader of the Year and Cultural Arts Group Leader of the Year will be
composed of directors under the Office of Student Services (OSS) and representatives
from selected sectors. The Dean of OSS will chair the panel.
7. The final score for the Saint John Baptist De La Salle Award for Excellence in Leadership,
Leader of the Year and Cultural Arts Group Leader of the Year award categories, shall
be computed based on the following:

St. John Baptist de La Salle Award for Excellence in Leadership
Being a leader, one should be able to balance academics, co-curricular and extracurricular undertakings. This would entail strong leadership and relationship skills, discipline,
and a deep commitment to serve others.
The St. John Baptist De La Salle Award for Excellence in Leadership is given to a Lasallian
student who epitomizes the leadership character of St. John Baptist by serving the students
actively from his first year until his last year in the institution.
