INTRODUCTION

A. Background of the Study

Today, its much easier to communicate with others than it was just a decade ago.
With the speedy advancement of the technology level, human beings are now being
brought to an unprecedented era they have ever experienced. The telephone, which was
invented in the 20th century, was one of the most efficient in communicating. Later on, the
mobile phone was invented. . However, when the energy in the battery is used up, your
mobile phone dies. This is why mobile phones have a charger with them. It charges
energy to the battery. Upon using the charger, it will also need an outlet to plug in as a
source of energy transaction. This is a disadvantage outdoors.
So the researchers invented the Manually-Operated Emergency Universal Mobile
Phone Charger. This device is used for emergency charging. It is hand-powered so if you
wind its handle it will generate electricity to charge your mobile phone. It transforms
mechanical energy to electrical energy.

B. Statement of the Problem

This study aims to answer the following questions. It will answer the main problem:
Can the Manually-Operated Emergency Universal Mobile Phone Charger charge?
1. How long will it take to charge the mobile phone for one bar?
2. Will it charge several mobile phones at a time?

Objectives:
The aim of the study is to find out if the Manually-Operated Emergency Universal
Mobile Phone Charger can charge at least 1 bar of battery for 20 min, if it can charge
more than 2 mobile phones of different brands and/or models at a time.

C. Significance of the Study

The purpose of the research is to be able to charge a mobile phone during
emergencies or travelling.

D. Scope and Limitations

The Manually-Operated Emergency Universal Mobile Phone Charger is able to
charge energy in the mobile phones battery when it is attached to the device. It cannot
charge more than one mobile phones at a time, it can only recognize the following brands
and/or models; Cherry Mobile Flare (S100), Samsung Galaxy Young Y, Samsung GT
E12S003, Samsung GT 1055T, Samsung Corby II S3650 as far as tested.

E. Review of Related Literature

A battery charger is a device used to put energy into a secondary cell or battery by
forcing an electric current through it. There are different types of chargers sold in the
market like; solar charger - It employs solar energy to supply electricity to devices or
charge batteries, external battery charger it charges a mobile phone with the use of an
external battery, wall charger charges the phone using an electrical outlet.

Eesha Khare, the inventor of the 20-second phone charger, is an 18-year-old student
from Lindberg High School in San Jose California. She was rewarded by Intel for her
invention of a device that can make a 20-second phone charger available on the market in
the future.

METHODOLOGY
A. Materials

Motor Head of A Ceiling Fan

Diode

2 types of Capacitor

Voltage Regulator (ic 7805)

10 in 1 USB cords

Box

Handle (for winding)

LED Lights

Female USB Port

Switch

6- Volt Rechargeable Battery

A. Procedure
Make a box 5.5 inches by 7 inches by 6.5 inches with a pocket 2.5 inches by 2.5
inches by 7 inches. Make two holes opposite to each other. Attach a handle at the top
of the box for easy handling. Use the female end of the cord and cut off the male end.
Four wires will pop out of the cut male end namely; the green & white wires for the
data, the red wire for positive and black wire for negative. Connect the positive wire
of the ceiling fan to one node of the diode, and then connect the other node of the
diode to the input node of the regulator together with one node of the 2 types of
capacitors (black cylinder & blue flat). Connect the other node of the 2 types of
capacitors (black cylinder & blue flat), the negative wire of the ceiling fan, the
negative node of the green LED light, the negative side of the 6- volt battery, the
negative wire (black wire) of the female USB port and one side of another capacitor
(blue flat) to the 2nd node of the regulator. Connect the positive wire (red wire) of the
female USB port to the diode then connect the diode to the output side of the
regulator together with the other side of the capacitor (blue flat), the positive node of
the green LED light and one side of the switch. Connect the other side of the switch
to the positive side of the 6- volt battery. Connect the negative node of the red LED
light to the negative side of the 6- volt battery, and then connect the positive node of
the red LED light to the other side of the switch which was connected to the positive
side of the 6- volt battery.

B. Analysis of Findings
Table 1: This table shows the time of charging for one bar of eight different
brands/models. Out of eight, only six phones will charge at different time rates.
Table 2: This table shows the results of different models of phones that are charged
simultaneously. The results show that the maximum mobile phones it can simultaneously
charge is two and it also varies on the models.

CONCLUSION
The Manually-Operated Emergency Universal Mobile Phone Charger was designed to
charge energy in a mobile phone manually for emergencies and other usage. Upon
conducting the experiments, the researchers found out that it is able to charge energy in
some selected mobile phones based on the test conducted, when it is attached to the
device. It can charge a maximum of two selected cellular phones based on the test
conducted. The researchers conclude that the Manually-Operated Emergency Universal
Mobile Phone Charger is useful during emergencies.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The researchers suggest that the next researcher/s could use perpetual motion for the
charging of the internal battery. To make the device smaller and more portable, the next
researchers can make a smaller box that is enough to hold all the materials for the device.
