More than 250,000 souls were swept into eternity on December 26, 2004 by a
tsunami, hitting eight Asian nations and the African coast. The tragedy deeply
impacted the world. Various media representatives asked, Where was God in
all of this? The implication was that an all-powerful, all-loving God would not
allow such a disaster. But we must ask not where God was, but where were
we? Have we done everything we can to reach those who have not heard the
gospel? Thankfully, Southern Baptist missionaries and others were immediately
on the field and involved. Yet that many people die each week in south Asia
alone, that many die from AIDS monthly in sub-Saharan Africa.

May we not be satisfied with business as usual but share the passion of martyred
missionary Jim Elliot: God makes His ministers a flame of fire. Am I ignitable?
God, deliver me from the dread asbestos of other things. Make me Thy fuel,
Flame of God! Lets all rekindle the fire this weekend.
*There is a guest reception in the Commons following the Saturday night and
Sunday morning 11:00am worship services. Pastor would love to meet you!
