DELPHYS DS is the result of SOCOMEC SICON UPSs long

experience in the field of power supply for sensitive systems and
integrates the latest and most efficient generation of IGBT transistors.
In addition, the use of digital processors and the implementation of
advanced technology such as SMD electronic boards (surface
mounted devices) have reduced the number and surface of electronic boards.

Certain configurations in low voltage distribution networks, notably

when supplied by gen-set, require that the rectifiers harmonic current
feed-back be limited.
To meet these requirements, the PROTECTPLUS rectifier has a high
performance clean input current with very low harmonic feed-back,
generating less than 5%. This performance is independent from the
frequency and impedance of the rectifier input power supply.

This reduction in the number of components means that

DELPHYS DS has even more reliability and increases its immunity
to electromagnetic disturbances.

DELPHYS DS technology is fully compatible with all distribution

networks, including those with filtering or power factor compensation
systems.
PROTECTPLUS is well adapted to operate with Gen-sets.

The speed and precision of the DELPHYS DSs digital control is an
essential factor guaranteeing high quality output voltage for the UPS.
Designed for supplying non-linear loads (IT equipment or industrial
processes), the DELPHYS DS provides:
voltage stability even in the presence of high load steps,
low output voltage distortion.
These features limit the effect on the voltage distortion (generated
by non-linear loads) downstream in the distribution network.

The exclusive MULTI BY-PASS system of the DELPHYS DS provides

the following benefits:
functional separation of different applications,
selective load shedding favouring the most critical loads,
intelligent management of available power,
selective maintenance,
step by step extension,
adapted rating for each by-bass according to the load.

DEFYS 023A

Modular DELPHYS DS employs

the parallel coupling of single units
consisting of rectifier, battery,
inverter and by-pass. Adapted for
1+1 redundancy, it also allows
flexibility for increasing the power
in progressive steps.

DEFYS 024A

DELPHYS DS with central by-pass

allows for easy coupling of up to 6
modules: rectifier, battery and
inverter. The by-pass static switch
is designed according to the
installations nominal rating, with a
high short-circuit capacity. Not
only is the central version a well
adapted solution for planned
power capacity increasing, it also
ensures the systems redundancy.

module to be up-graded by the

even if this was not planned
during the original design of the

Synchronisation

For more reliable downstream distribution
The ACS function (Automatic Cross Sync) maintains the DELPHYS DS
output in synchronisation with an external power source during
absence of the utilitys reference source at the by-pass input. This
principle ensures the permanent synchronisation between two totally
independent DELPHYS DS systems. The ACS system guarantees
operation without any single point of failure. In particular, it guarantees
that downstream LTM systems can carry out synchronous automatic
transfers during mains absence or when running on battery.

DEFYS 059B

The DELPHYS DS double by-pass

offers users increased load backup by providing redundancy for
downstream distribution. Full
maintenance procedures are also
possible, without interrupting the
loads supplied by the UPS
systems.

DELPHYS DS uses sealed lead-acid batteries as back-up energy.

Their recombination rate is equal or superior to 95 % and may be
installed in premises with reduced air change.

Considering the importance of the battery in the operation of a UPS

system, DELPHYS DS uses an exclusive technology to increase its
service life: SENSI-CHARGER.

intelligent management of the battery recharge,
floating voltage adjustment according to the temperature,
very low residual AC ripple voltage,
periodic automatic battery test,
protection against deep discharge.

DELPHYS DS batteries are usually cabinet-mounted adjacent to the

UPS. The battery cabling to the UPS is internal.

The sealed lead-acid batteries are mounted either in a matching

cabinet or on racks.

DELPHYS DS can also operate with open lead-acid or nickel cadmium

batteries.

The batteries may also be installed separately, and in this case

the connecting cables are sized to limit voltage drop to 1% in order
to benefit from maximum back-up time.

ECO-MODE

Cost-effective and fail-safe operation
The ECO-MODE function allows an even greater cost-effective
operation of DELPHYS DS systems (output > 97.5 %).
In this mode the load is supplied by the utility. In the event of a mains
outage, the inverter takes over the loads and provides supply
continuity. The loads are then transferred back on to the utility once
stable tolerances have been re-established.

ECO-MODE can be programmed by the user for automatic operation,

for example during certain periods when the loads are less critical.

Ethernet network as an intelligent peripheral. It gives access to data with
HTML format. NET VISION also provides a JAVA applet Graphical

DELPHYS DS provides users with 7 to 14 dry contacts which can be
set on request. External inputs are available to manage the following:
gen-set on, battery charge stop, emergency stop and other options.

Monitoring with Windows NT station

Power management of SOCOMEC SICON equipments
TOP VISION, an exclusive and easy-to-learn tool that monitors one or
more DELPHYS DS units, together with other SOCOMEC SICON
equipment installed on your site. Its colour graphic diagram shows
UPS status and displays information such as alarms, measurements,
power consumption graphs and event log. TOP VISION also gives
access to control commands secured by access code. This tool
incorporates a Web server allowing remote access from any station
connected to the Intranet network. TOP VISION centralises all the
equipments data in order to transmit it via a single modem to the CIM
supervision centre (Consultancy, Inspection & Maintenance SOCOMEC
SICON UPS). This also offers both remote notification and diagnostic
possibilities.

Serial port

Reports status as well as alarm
The serial port reports information to BMS systems (Building
Management Systems). All the information on the DELPHYS DS
database status, measurements, alarms as well as commands is
transmitted via an RS232, RS422 and RS485 serial port with
JBUS / MODBUS protocol.
