Introduction
Field Study 5, the course that allows the students to have hands-on
experience in selecting, constructing and evaluating conventional, authentic
and alternative assessment tools used in the learning environment based on
the principles of testing. In other words, it covers on the different
assessments and evaluation strategies that could be apply during practice
teaching. It aims to prepare the field study students before undergoing the
practice teaching.
Teacher assessment tools are an important part of judging the
capabilities, progress and development of students. It help teachers judge
how much a student knows at the beginning of a school year, semester or
subject. It also help track progress and inform the teacher when the subject
matter has been adequately learned by the students. Through assessment
tools, it can measure if the child understands what the lesson is all about.
Through this, it can determine if the assessment methods you used is
effective or not. So, if its not effective, think of an assessment methods that
can cater the needs of the students and can caught their interest.
It is also advantage to the teacher to think creatively how to best elicit
quality student responses. By varying the way teacher assess students
understanding they are more likely to offer opportunities for every student to
demonstrate their knowledge. Having an appropriate assessment tools
methods in the classroom is very important to measure student deep
understanding and to assess students knowledge and skills

Assessment is a need in education and learning different assessment


strategies.

Teachers would be able to assess their selves if they really

attained their learning targets. It is also a big help to them, because they
would be able to know their students strengths and weaknesses. In this field
of study, its clear for me the importance of having an assessment inside the
classroom form traditional, performance-based to authentic assessment.
Theres a lots of methods in assessing students but it always depends on
what we assessed.

Field study 5 is all about leaning assessment strategies that is needed


by the student teacher in his/her field. Here we learn different techniques in
how to assess and to evaluate students performance. This portfolio covers
our narratives, assessment tool, photo essays at the same time attached
some important requirements for the completion of this portfolio

Photo Essay

In this picture, I am tutoring Jasmine one of the students of Mrs. Bajao


on what is the proper pronunciation of the sound in every letters in the
alphabet. She can pronounce well on the other letters but finds difficulty in
sounding the letter s and r. Jasmine should practice more so that she can
master the sound of the alphabet.

This picture shows how important the values of being respectful,


respecting each other, even just for a while, a moment to have picture taking
with the whole class. Post smiles from the different faces are the happiest
moment of individuals especially to all learners including me.

Review and Reflection Tool

Assessment tools are for immediate use with students in the


classroom. They are suitable for use in many different contexts and are
aimed at improving assessment practices. A range of schools have used
some of these tools and their feedback and suggestions for use are included.
I choose Review and Reflection Tools as assessing the students in a
much better learning process. It enable students to review and reflect on
their knowledge, progress, and what they have learnt and achieved during a
unit, topic or project. Some tools are specially designed for early year
students. Example peer-assessment of performance a tool designed to
involve young students in peer-assessment and the use of criteria and a
continuum.

Using assessment tools could improve the work of the students


and also they could have new knowledge. Its a big help in making the class
more interactive and students tend to participate more.
Narrative of FS 5 Experiences
Most of the teachers in the school have pleasing personality. It
does not mean that to be a teacher, one must be good looking. Good looking
in the way that a teacher must be presentable. I have observed that, a good
teacher must be looked presentable by the kind of clothes he chooses to
wear. Thank you for molding us to be competent, and well-informed about
Technology in the Learning Environment. I am so grateful to have you as my
mentor and I feel so blessed. I wish I could express my appreciation to the
teacher who mold me towards handling my field study 5. From my school
and to the school where I was assigned.
My cooperating teacher was so cool as always, just like his learners
there at J. P. Rizal Elementary School. Every time when my CT was entering
in his class his Grade 5 section Maunwain was so stubborn, he negleacted it
because according to him, when youre always angry to them youre the one
lugi because most of his learners now are so hyper and no one can
demand them except themselves. The reason I can say that my cooperating
teacher has a potential, loving, responsible and one of the very patient
teacher I ever know. I am proud of this kind of teacher, great in terms of
handling a class discussion because most of his learners are cooperating with

him due to his attention-catching voice. Indeed, he is a great teacher and a


hero.
