will depend on the site condition or detailed engineering discussion : can be organized for site visit /
discussion at an extra cost. materials can be availed will be able to quote after the designing.

11.5.3 : basic cummins design for the base tank is 750 ltrs. Design approval will be required to alter the
tank capacity will also depend on the space availability between the base frame for the base tank.
Alterations even if possible will be at an extra cost.
NCC Response: Noted.

Suggestion : additional external tank of 990 ltrs to be connected through external hose to the base
tank. To refill the base tank. There are no separate alarms. Low fuel level sensor is connected to the
controller for warning. Will need to consult design dept for any possibility for high / low fuel alarm
switches
Filter is provided between the input hose.
There is no sight glass on the tank
There are no fire shut off valves : will need to be installed separately, please provide technical details
of the valve. The fire sensor and its operation logic.
. Direct motor driven selfpriming gear type booster pumps shall be provided (if required) to
guarantee the maximum required fuel flow under all circumstances.: Cummins PT fuel pump is installed to
pump fuel from day tank to injectors.

fuel oil purge pumps with alternative connection facilities provided for road tanker : can supply at an

additional cost.

A fill point cabinet shall be provided. The cabinet shall be of mild steel construction with a lockable
door and shall include a contents gauge, a flanged valve, cap and chain : the base tank has a fuel
inlet provision with a normal cap inside the DG canopy a guage installed besides the inlet. Please
specify exact details with dimensions and drawings for the cabinet and the flanged valve. And how
and where would it be installed.

11.5.4. An integral fuel system shall be provided for the diesel engine consisting of injectors, metering
pumps and duplex filtration equipment which shall be of the replaceable element type, complete
with changeover device and pressure difference indicator : Cummins PT fuel pump is installed to pump fuel
from day tank to the injectors. Fuel filter is provided. Please provide details / specs of metering pumps and duplex
filtration equipment

steel drip tray on the diesel generator room floor in front of each unit. : can be supplied at an
additional cost. will need exact dimension and thickness of the tray with exact drawing for
fabricating and how and where would it be placed.

11.5.5. Engine governing : Electronic / A1 class governor is installed in the engine


On return of the mains supply it is anticipated that the load will be removed from the diesel
generator at a similar rate : it is a auto panel function.
All electric motors will be direct on line started: u will need to consider the initial starting current.

11.5.6. Cooling equipment


The diesel generator unit supplied shall have an air cooled radiator and engine driven fans arranged
: both air cooled and radiator cooled doesnt make sense. The engine is radiator cooled / water
cooled the Combustion air intake @ 100% load is 37 m3/min
Thermostatically controlled electrical heaters shall be installed in the engine jackets to maintain the
water temperature at a minimum of 10C under standby conditions. : no provision of heater. External
space heaters can be installed at extra price. though controlling the temperature will need a system
all together and continuous heating will also be a concern.
NCC Response: Provide heaters to maintain minimum teperature of 10 deg C as per technical specification.

low water level detection equipment complete with relays shall be fitted to the generator unit : low
coolant level is not installed in 500kva : if required will need to make provision and also design the
system for reading and warning.

11.5.7. Starting equipment


The diesel generator shall be provided with an emergency starting air receiver sized to provide
ample storage to allow at least 12 consecutive starts without repressurizing between starts. The air
receivers shall be constructed in accordance with the ASME code for unfired pressure vessels, or
equivalent.
Three (3) compressors arranged in parallel shall be provided for the diesel generator units. These
compressors shall be low capacity, high discharge pressure, reciprocating multistage machines. Two
compressors shall be motor driven and the third (back up) compressor shall be driven by a battery

start diesel engine with provision for manual cranking. The maximum air pressure for the starting air
system shall be 30 bars. Each compressor shall be capable of charging one receiver in one hour or
less. The two motor driven compressors shall be controlled by an automatic start/ stop controller
which starts the compressor on a preset low receiver pressure and stops the compressor when the air
pressure reaches the desired maximum level. Alarm indication of low pressure shall be provided in
the Central Control Room.
There is no consideration for any external compressor system. the same can be provided as an
external cost. though will need complete details of the equipment and the integration with the
engine system details.

NCC Response: Provide three(3) compressors arranged in parallel as per Tech. Specification.

11.5.8. Intake air system


The diesel generator shall be provided with the following air filtration equipment.
A 100 per cent capacity selfcleaning inertial type separator
a. A 100 per cent capacity selfcleaning automatically rotated, viscous impingement
filter.
The above equipment shall be mounted as high as possible above the ground with provision to
ensure the equipment can be serviced easily. The above equipment has not been quoted, can
provide at an extra cost.

Sound attenuators, which properly reduce the turbocharger noise within the specified limits, shall be
provided. The entire system is housed inside the canopy wherein the overhaul sound is reduced to
75db. Separate acoustic for the tourbo charger is not considered. If still needed please provide
specific details and design.

11.5.11. Barring device


A barring device shall be provided to rotate the engine shaft for engine adjustment and repair
purposes. The engine manufacturer shall determine whether the device is power or manually
operated. An interlock shall be provided to prevent the starting of the diesel while the barring device
is engaged The above equipment has not been quoted, can provide at an extra cost. If needed
please provide specific details and design.

11.5.12. Operation of the generating plant


The set shall be complete with auxiliary equipment required to operate the set locally as well as from
the SCS via its associated control console in the Substation Control Room. : will need details of the
SCS controls. the DG controller can accept command for remote start stop. The external console
should be able to send appropriate signals for the operations.

The emergency generator set shall be connected to the LVAC switchboard as shown on single line
diagram in Appendix A.
During emergency conditions the generator breaker may be manually or automatically closed either
locally or remotely. Proper command will be required to operate the Breaker.

Controls shall be provided to synchronize (manually or automatically) and load each generator. AMF

is only single contactor based fully functional changeover function has not been considered

The generators shall be capable of being started, synchronized to the system without dependence
upon the substation ac auxiliary supplies : synchronized ? will need details of the exact requirement.
NCC Response: As per specification DG Set started with dependence of substation ac auxiliary supplies.

and accepting load within 10 seconds after receiving start signal. yes

With initiation of stop signal the unit shall shut down in an orderly manner. yes
Operation of the generator protective devices shall trip a lockout relay no lockout relay is provided
which in turn shall open the generator circuit breaker and cause a set shut down. Genset shutdown
command will be a separate logic.
Failure of starting sequence shall automatically shut down and make insensitive any further start
signals until the fault has been corrected.yes
Active and reactive load sharing with other machines and load control, speed, voltage and VAR
control shall be provided. No load manager or load sharing is provided.
NCC Response: Provide Load Control, Speed, Voltage & VAR control signal as per technical specification.

11.5.14. Generating set protection : will need to confirm

14.15 Generator control panel


Generator control shall be PLC operated to SCS. Will need complete details of SCS
