GUIDELINES FOR ASPIRING PILOTS

FortheissueofaCommercialPilotsLicencebyDGCA,Govt.ofIndia,somebasicessentialrequisitesareto
befulfilledbythecandidate.Theseare:

1. a)MedicalFitnessascertifiedbyanapprovedMedicalBoard.ReferDGCAsitewww.dgca.nic.in
b) Clearing of written/theory examination papers as conducted by DGCA, Govt. of India for ab
initio students, if flying is done in India and also for Conversion of Foreign Licenses. These
examinationsareconducted4timesinayear.
c) Actual flying training (200 hours for CPL & 50 hrs. for PPL) on an aircraft in any of the Flying
ClubsspreadalloverIndiaorabroadinaccordancewiththelaiddownsyllabus.
d) FlightRadioTelephoneOperatorsLicence/FRTO(L)
e) RTR(Radiotelephonyrestricted)issuedbyMinistryofCommunications&IT(WPC).

g) Admission to Delhi Flying Club for ground training/tutorial classes prepares you to appear
effectivelyforDGCAexams.Toappear,acandidateisrequiredtofulfilltheconditionsaslaid

numberfromDGCA.
2. DelhiFlyingClubisprovidingtheinterestedcandidatesafacilityofguidance,trainingandtutorial
classestoclearthewrittenexaminationsforPPL,CPL,ATPLaswellasforConversionofForeign
PilotsLicenses.Thisfacilityisalsoidealforthosestudentswhohave;

DecidedtogoabroadforobtainingaPPL,CPLLicense.

(b)

Anearnestdesiretoobtaintherequisitefoundationalprofessionalknowledge.

c)ToarmthemselvesbetterforappearinginAirlineInterviews

3.Latestaudiovisualaidsasperinternationalstandards/normsareusedinteaching.

4. The candidate, for flying, is required to become a member of an accredited flying club for
completing 200 hrs. of flying ( 50 hrs for PPL ). Refer para 1(c) above. Flying activity for training is
presently not being conducted at DFC. However, as said earlier, Ground Training classes/ tutorial
classesisbeingimpartedtovariouscategoriesofstudentsaswellasthosefullfledgedpilotsatDelhi
FlyingClub.Morethan400studentssince200405havehadtheirfoundationaltrainingherebefore
commencingtheirflyingabroadorinIndia.

5. Approximate current rates for flying at various flying clubs are Rs. 8500/hr onwards. Some states
provideflyingscholarship/subsidytodeservingcandidatesandtoSC&STcandidatesupto60hoursof
flying.

3. Thecoursedurationisamaximumof1012weeks.However,theenrolledcandidatecanattend
classesfreeofcostupto6months(fromthedateofjoiningthebatch/trainingcourse)orfortwo
consecutiveattemptstoappearforDGCAExaminations,whicheverisearlier,providedacurrent
batchoftrainingisinoffing.Theperiodofclassescanbesplit/spacedaspermutuallyagreed
scheduleforthebenefitofpeoplewhoareworkingorarenotabletotakeacontinuousbatch.
Foreign License Conversion course syllabus will be covered in 4 6 weeks. Guidance in terms of
revisionofsubjectswill,however,beavailablefreeofcostfor6months
Classes will be held from 10.00 hrs onwards for 5 days a week. However, candidates should be
availableforadditional/extraclassesonholidaysoronnormalworkinghours.Timingsaresubject
tochangeatpriornoticeandsoisthecourseduration*.
4. Theclasseswillbeconductedbyahighlyqualifiedfaculty,somehavingover40yearsofexposurein
thefieldofflyingandteachingandwellversedinthefieldofDGCALicenses.Studentscandidature
is liable to be suspended if he absents himself without a valid cause from any class test or from
routineclassesofabatchformorethanaweek.
