QUEBEC IS THE ONLY PROVINCE THAT HAS FRENCH ALONE AS ITS OFFICIAL LANGUAGE. IT
IS BORDERED BY ONTARIO TO THE WEST AND NEW BRUNSWICK AND NEWFOUNDLAND TO
THE EAST.
QUEBEC HAS A POPULATION OF OVER 7 MILLION PEOPLE. THE TWO BIGGEST CITIES ARE
QUEBEC CITY AND MONTREAL. THE ST. LAWRENCE RIVER IS THE MAIN WATERWAY IN THE
PROVINCE. IN QUEBEC CITY, TOURISTS CAN SEE HISTORICAL BUILDINGS. THE MOST FAMOUS
BUILDING IS THE CHATEAU FRONTENAC. IT IS THE MOST PHOTOGRAPHED HOTEL IN THE
WORLD.
IN THE AUTUMN, PEOPLE COME TO QUEBEC TO SEE THE CHANGING COLOURS OF THE TREES.
IN THE WINTER, THERE IS A BIG WINTER FESTIVAL, AND IN SPRING AND SUMMER, PEOPLE
CAN GO WHALE WATCHING, BOATING, AND ENJOY THE MANY FRENCH RESTAURANTS.

to explore the land. In 1608 he returned and claimed the land for
France. The area was called New France.

Champlain made friends with the Native Indians and traded metal
objects, guns, alcohol and clothing with them for their animal furs. In
1759 British General James Wolfe fought and defeated the French
General Louis-Joseph de Montcalm on the Plains of Abraham. The
British changed the name of New France to the Province of Quebec.
The British allowed the population to keep French as their main
language.

TORONTO IS THE LARGEST CITY IN CANADA, WITH A POPULATION OF 2.5 MILLION PEOPLE.
IT IS LOCATED ON THE NORTHERN SHORE OF LAKE ONTARIO. TORONTO, OR T.O. AS IT IS
KNOWN LOCALLY, IS CANADAS ECONOMIC CAPITAL AND IS A GLOBAL CITY. IT IS VERY

IN SUMMER, TORONTO IS WARM AND HUMID, BUT IN WINTER IT CAN BE VERY COLD AND THE
STREETS ARE OFTEN COVERED WITH SNOW.
TORONTO IS HOME TO THE WORLDS SECOND TALLEST FREESTANDING STRUCTURE, THE CN

This wealthy neighbourhood is famous for its castle, which sits on top of
Avenue Hill Road and is surrounded by ravines and beautiful old trees.

of land and has a tiny airport, an amusement park and a small residential
community.

This area got its name because its first residents were poor immigrants who
couldnt afford to buy vegetables, so grew them in their front gardens. It is full
