About Us
Based in Istanbul where the exotic east meets
modern west, we bring together new technology
with old world techniques to produce the highest
quality, longest lasting and most beautiful cement
tiles.
With decades of experience in ceramics, we are a
specialist and unique international exporter of
exclusive hand crafted cement tiles, and Topkapi
Palace ceramic tiles.
Our workshop is in Istanbul and our atelier has
synthesised Ottoman and French tradition with a
modern sensibility. We have centuries of
experience in blending and reinventing western
influences with our own traditions and those from
further east to create a fresh and unique look.

6 Things You Should Know

1. Creating our special Otto Tiles
Individually hand crafted, these lovely
products are created by our artisans without
using clay, glazes or kilns. Instead we use
high quality Turkish cement sand with
natural stones granule and color pigments.

Each tile is hand-pressed to apply the

coloured design, each mould having been
designed by our atelier artists. Because they
are hand-made, there will be slight
variations, even 'imperfections', but that's
part of their charm and their timeless look.

2. Creating the 20x20 cement tile

4. Where you can use them
Otto tiles may be used for all interior and exterior
purposes. Other cement tiles are unsuited to
high-moisture areas, such as showers, but because of
our unique method of manufacture, Otto tiles can be
used in bathrooms and kitchens

Preferably not in a climate prone to frost and snow.

5. Cleaning your cement tiles

Cleaning is easy. Use our specific cream-soft soap to
really make your tiles look shiny, healthy and live long
lives. You can also simply use luke warm water, soft soap
or non-acidic detergents to bring them back to life.
Acidic cleaning agents are never used for cleaning or
maintenance on the cement tiles.

Installation Tips
- A competent tile installer is a must.
- The surface must be level, dry, clean and
free from dust and oil.
- Please note that they are handmade
products and are produced by using natural
materials. Slight thickness, weight and
colour tone differences are an inherent
feature. In order to avoid stacking of similar
tiles in the same place, tiles should be
selected from different boxes.

Installation Tips
- The tile installer must not allow a space for
grouting when setting the tiles.
- Flexible adhesive is recommended for
areas subject to sudden changes in
temperature. Waterproofing materials must
be used for wet areas.
- If applicable, floor heating systems must be
turned off at least 12 hours prior to tile
setting.

Installation Tips
- Rubber hammers or similar tools cannot be
used for setting the tiles as they may cause
hairline cracks.
- Grouting may only be applied after a waiting
period, typically one day. The waiting period
depends on the surface,
environmental conditions and the type of
the adhesive used.
- Once the setting and grouting is complete,
allow an extra drying period before use to
avoid movement and cracks

Installation Tips
- The grout must be cleaned immediately
with just water and a sponge. Do not allow
the grout to harden on the surface.
- If the grout hardens, you can clean with
non-acidic chemicals, but it must be rinsed
immediately with a sponge and water.
- We suggest you to use glass vacuum lifter
for tiling.
- Tiles laid must be imregnated to increase
their water repellence.

Installation Tips
- A marble grinding machine must be used
for grinding. Using the wrong grinding
stones may cause scratches on the tiles
which will only show in due course when the
dirt starts building in the cracks.
- Sealants that do not form a film layer on the
surface must be applied after
grinding/polishing.
- The cement tiles with incomplete grinding
and sealing will be subject to gathering dirt
and absorbing stains
