PAID INTERNSHIPS
 Los Angeles County Arts Commission – Summer Internship Program ($3500 stipend)
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors established the Arts Internship Program (which
provides internships for nonprofit performing, presenting, literary, and municipal arts organizations)
as a companion program to the Getty Multicultural Internship Program (which provides internships to
museums and visual arts organizations). The purpose of the County's program is to provide
undergraduate students with meaningful on-the-job training and experience in working in nonprofit
arts organizations, while assisting arts organizations to develop future arts leaders. This program is a
10 week paid summer internship (40 hours/week) for 125 full-time undergraduate college students.
Students are paid $350/week to work with a nonprofit arts organization within Los Angeles County.
Nonprofits include various performing, presenting, and literary arts organizations, and local agencies.
Interns also participate in several educational events. Undergraduates and graduating seniors may
apply. Students must have completed at least one semester of college by June 2010, and be currently
enrolled (full-time) in a community college or a four year university. Graduating seniors are eligible
only if they are to complete their undergraduate degree by September 1st, 2010. Students must
either reside in Los Angeles County or attend school in Los Angeles County. Candidates are
welcome from all areas of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated a previous
commitment to the arts. A number of the 125 internship postings are currently posted on connectSC.

 CBS Interactive – Summer 2010 Mobile Marketing Intern ($10-15/hr)
CBS Interactive is proud to offer a summer 2010 internship program. We strive to provide students in
both undergraduate and graduate levels with meaningful and practical work experience. Our
internships will expose you to industry professionals and promote both your personal and career
development. CBS Interactive Internship Program Events Include networking opportunities and
offsite events, e.g. tour of CBS 5 studios, Parties That Cook classes, volunteering at the San Francisco
Food Bank. Our summer 2010 internships start in June and end in August, they are 10 to 12 weeks in
duration, 40 hours per week. To be considered, you must be currently attending an accredited college
and have achieved sophomore or junior status with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. We also hire
graduate students for internships. This is a paid internship but can also be for academic credit if it
meets your university’s guidelines. CBS Interactive is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented individual
to work closely with the marketing leads at CBS Mobile. The right candidate understands how to
progress from developing a clear marketing strategy to executing against strategies/goals/plans. This
role will have visibility into, and influence the marketing directions of multiple content verticals
within CBS Mobile. Creative planning and the ability to predict and quantify results are essential
tenets of this role. Currently CBS Mobile is a leader in publishing award-winning mobile web sites
and applications, distributed through a wide array of partners, including Apple and the iPhone store.
As a marketing intern, you will work to insure the visibility and continued success of these products.
Required skills: creative thinking, expertise in the full suite of Microsoft Office products, including
powerpoint and excel, ability to react and deliver quickly in a fast-paced environment. Superlative
communication skills will be called upon as this role is a key player in our relationships with
agencies, advertisers and other stake holders. Must successfully pass a background check. Please

 UBS Financial Services, Inc. – Asset Management & Financial Advisor/Stockbroker Intern
We are searching for motivated, hardworking individuals with great potential sales ability, willing to
lay the ground work to begin a career as a financial professional. Enter the training program while in
school, and learn the skills necessary to build a successful wealth management business. The intern
will work side by side with a Senior Portfolio Management team that consists of two Senior Vice
Presidents, one Vice President, one financial advisor and 4 other associates. Learn how to be a
successful advisor in the asset management and private wealth management areas. Initial duties will
include prospecting, compiling data, market research and other general office duties. Must have the
academic equivalence of at least a sophomore in college. Please submit resume through the system or

 Transportation Foundation of Los Angeles – Systems Intern (1-2 Openings, $12.50/hr)


The intern will be assigned to assist professional staff with providing computer hardware, software
and technical support to various divisions within the City of Los Angeles’ Department of Public
Works. Under the direction of a professional systems analyst, the intern’s duties may include
supporting PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software
(Microsoft Office Suite). Providing software and hardware installation on department computers.
Developing ad hoc queries & reports for hardware/software inventory control. Monitoring help desk
support requests. Providing end user support to various levels of technical and non-technical staff. In
addition, depending on the mentor, the intern may be asked to assist in Web page development, Web
content management, AutoCAD support, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects and
Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) projects. This is a paid internship; applicants
must be willing to commit to the internship for at least 4 months (internship may run longer). It starts
ASAP, 15-30 hours per week. Must be a currently enrolled student in southern California. Student
should have a second semester junior, senior, or graduate standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA. If an
international student you must be eligible to work or able to complete your eligibility requirements in
a timely manner (CPT, etc.). Student must have awareness of PC hardware components, desktop
operating system software, application software, and skill in Engineering applications (AutoCAD
Map, ArcView, SQL Server, etc.) is a plus. Because the internship may involve computer hardware
the student needs to be able to lift at least 20 pounds. Student must have awareness of the PC
Industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in
computer-based information systems and technology. Interested applicants should possess excellent
analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems. Student
needs the ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to
apply various technical resources. Student should have ability to perform tasks such as providing
operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, virus protection and
eradication. Able to interact effectively with management, staff, and other City personnel, and work

 UNX – Intern ($20/hr)


UNX is an independent trading technology firm and agency brokerage providing advanced electronic
trading and software solutions to institutional investors. We are located in Burbank, CA. UNX is
looking for a student intern to investigate new technologies that may prove useful to our firm. We are
looking for students with experience programming in C# and the Microsoft .NET platform. Strong
communication and writing skills. Pursuing a BS or MS in computer science or related technical

UNPAID INTERNSHIPS
 Atlantic Records – Summer 2010 Photography Intern (New York City)
Atlantic Records is looking for highly motivated, passionate, and talented individuals pursuing a
career in Photography. Intern will work under the staff photographer for Atlantic Records and will
shoot: live concerts / public appearances / stills on music videos / merchandise for
atlanticrecords.com and potentially: ALUM PACKAGING & PRESS IMAGERY FOR ATLANTIC
ARTISTS. (That’s right, past interns have shot packaging and press images for our bands!) Once
complete, these images will be serviced to the marketing, publicity, and digital departments to be
used to promote the Artist in the domestic and international marketplaces. Intern will also photo-
assist / digital tech for the staff photographer on album packaging and publicity photo shoots for
company artists. ATL PHOTO NEEDS INTERNS IN NYC AND LA. Intern must be pursuing a
career in photography. Familiarity with digital SLR cameras (preferably the Nikon system but we’ll
only be mildly condescending if you’re on Canon), film cameras (preferably the Hasselblad system)
and strobe lighting systems (profoto) is a plus but not mandatory. Knowledge of photo editing
software Photoshop and Lightroom is a must. Mac Proficiency is a must. Photoshop CS3/CS4. Adobe
Lightroom. Must be able to receive college credit for your internship and A LETTER OF PROOF
MUST BE SUBMITTED. Must be able to commit 15 Hours minimum per week. Intern candidates

 Arclight Films – Summer Accounting Intern (2 Openings)


Dynamic and growing entertainment company in Beverly Hills is looking for a talented and
enthusiastic finance/accounting intern who wants to build their skill sets geared towards the
entertainment industry. This organization is a full service international sales, production and
distribution company that is devoted to showcasing the best in action, comedy and drama films from
around the world. You will receive mentorship and a broad overview of the overall accounting
structures and processes within this industry. This job is ideal for someone who wants to get a general
understanding of the industry and how a film sales company works. We are a small business so your
exposure will be wide. You need to be eligible to receive college credit. Accounting or finance degree
candidates, who wants a role within their major course of study, at an entertainment company or a

This is the perfect opportunity for someone interested in marketing, catering, events and publicity.
Intern will conduct market research and manage & build spreadsheets. Manage inventory & other
equipment. Fulfill orders. Deliver and serve food and products. Assist with donation requests. Write
press releases. Personal shopping. Event planning assistance. Aid in building procedures. Menu
creation. Networking. Develop relationship with local businesses, hotels and residents and much
more. We are seeking applicants with a high level of integrity and a strong desire to succeed.
Applicants should be ambitious and possess a strong work ethic. Restaurant/Hospitality experience.
Detail oriented. Exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills –
written and verbal. Prior office experience and use of an office copier, fax and scanning machine.
