REVIEW OF THE RELATED LITERATURE

2.1. INTRODUCTION:
Research takes advantages of knowledge which has accumulated in the past as a result of
constant human endeavour. It can never be undertaken in isolation of the work that has already been
done on the problems which are directly or indirectly to a study proposed by a research. A careful
review of the research journals, books, dissertation, thesis and other of information on the problem to
be investigation is one of the important steps in planning of any research study.
2.2. NEED OF REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Research is structured inquiry that utilizes acceptable scientific methodology to solve problem
and creates new generally applicable knowledge. It is an unavoidable and crucial aspect of research
programme knowledge of related research enables investigators to define the frontiers of their field.
A careful review of the related literature can help researchers to revise their initial question so that it
can be investigated. A critical review of related literature of the leads to insight into the reasons for
contradictory results literature, investigation learns which methodologies have proved useful and
which seems less promise. A thorough search through related research avoids unintentional replication
of previous studies. Also the study of related literature places researches in a better in interprets the
significance of their own result.
2.3. PURPOSE OF REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
A review of literature serves several purposes in research. Knowledge from the literature is
used in stating the significance of the problem, developing the research design, relating the result of
the study to previous knowledge and suggesting further research.
Review enables the research to define and delimit the problem. Eventually research problem
is limited to a subtopic within a large body of previous theory, knowledge, or practice and stated in
the appropriate learns. It avoids unintentional and unnecessary repetition. A thorough search of the
literature enables the researches to avoid unintentional replication and to select a different research
problem.
It helps to place in a historical and an associated perspective. To add to the knowledge in any
subfield, researches analyse the way their studies will relate to exiting knowledge. It adds topic for
further research helps to adopt promising methods, to follow a systematic process and to convert the
tentative statement of the problem. Finally it helps to identify the major drawbacks or major faults in
the previous study.
The reviewed studies are classified into types as given below
1. Indian studies
2. Foreign studies
