ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS
Most Ss will have problems with :
1. using the modal verb will in conditional
clauses
2. speaking in English
3. expressing themselves.
Procedure:
T asks Ss what their homework was and a S gives the answer. Ss read the homework.
T corrects the possible errors helped by the Ss and elicits them on the board.
will talk about those common beliefs, things people are used to believe in without really know
why. These are called superstitions.
!!! Important: whenever Ss dont understand T questions or vocabulary, these will be translated
into Romanian.
T shows a picture of a black cat and asks students what belief(s) they know about it.
She will write on the blackboard a sentence containing a superstition using the 1 st
conditional, eg. If a black cat crosses the road in front of you, you will have bad
luck. Then she shows a picture of a mirror, a leaf of clover and elicits the sentences
from the students. T writes the form of the 1st conditional and when to use it.
T divides the Ss into 5 teams. Every team has to take 3 tickets from the teacher s table. They
say if the superstitions written on them are good or bad luck superstitions. In pairs they have
to act out one superstition.
Ss solve the 1st conditional exercises from the worksheet. T praises every correct answer.
T proposes to Ss to play a mime game and guess/predict what activity is going to happen
Project - Students are asked to design a project about superstitions (most or less known).
Teacher praises all the students for their contribution.
