The three leader companies in CSR are:

1, Apple
It seems controversial that Apple is dedicated to CSR. Unlike many other
companies, Apple seldom denoted money to charity or educational
organizations. And it used most of its earned money to design the new
innovative products. And their new products really help people to save more
resources. Take iPad for an example, the iPad can be used to read E-books/EMagazine, it initiated the booming of the E-reading business, considering how
many trees can be preserved by less printed papers produced. Also, iPad can
be used to watch video, listening music and play video games. It can reduce
the production of unnecessarily MP3, MP4 and even video gaming machines.
Apple also built up a very advanced recycle process that the used Apple
device can be decomposed in an efficient way. This process is claimed to be
able to minimize the negative impact on the environment.
Apple also put lots of efforts on education, Apple encourage the third-party
developers to upload their application focused on education, especially on
health care and biology related app. These apps will inspire children to
interest in such kind of areas which other education program are difficult to
cover.
SCR is not some superficial window-dressing that will distract the companys
fundamental economic role of business, it is rather seamless cooperate with
companys own profit. For Apples case, be innovative is the most valuable
CSR adoption.
2, IBM
IBM had dedicated to many environmental, social, and governance programs
to establish its position in the emerging markets. For example, IBM used its
Small and Medium Enterprise Toolkit to trace the records for local
stakeholders, including government officials and (NGOs). In partnership with
the World Banks International Finance Corporation, Indias ICICI Bank, Banco
Real (Brazil), and Dun & Bradstreet Singapore, IBM is using the service to
provide free Web-based resources on business management to small and
midsize enterprises in developing economies. Overall, there are 30 SME
Toolkit sites, in 16 languages. Helping to build such businesses not only
improves IBMs reputation and relationships in new markets but also helps it
to help these developing countries to develop themselves, improve their
information technology, open their international market, and ultimately,
improve the wealth and living standard for normal people in these countries.
IBM(maybe cooperate with Schneider) has also developed waste free datacenter products, which helped the company grow by offering products that
meet customers environmental concerns. A new collaboration between IBM
and the Nature Conservancy, for example, is developing 3D imaging
technology to help advance efforts to improve water quality. This project

applies IBMs existing capability in sensors that can communicate wirelessly

with a central data-management system in order to provide decision makers
with summaries that improve water management. IBM also work with China
government to provide an air pollution detection system (collecting the index
to a large data center and predict the trends of the pollution) that will help
local government to locate the source of the pollution and how to eliminate
the pollution.

3, Microsoft
Microsoft use its annual Employee Giving Campaign, where employees attend
fundraising events for nonprofit organizations. The campaign has been held
every year since 1983 and has raised more than $1 billion in contributions to
more than 31,000 organizations. The founders of Microsoft Bill Gates, also
actively engaged in many charity works and he donates huge money on
cancer treatment and animal protection.
But what made me think that Microsoft is the leader of CSR is because its
Windows system is much easier to use that other operating system and in
fact, it is the Windows that propelled the rapid development of the PC
industry and in turn, the booming of Internet. The PC and internet make
people more accessible to information resource and open a new window to
the world.
