PD Post-Observation PD 1:20-2:30 TOTAL RUNNING TIME: 70 minutes


Each team will work through the post-observation protocol + participate in an online survey about the PD Cohorts.

You will be presenting what have you learned, achieved and been challenged by as a grade team. While we have no rubric at the
moment, we suggest you plan on 10-20 minutes using visual aids and or handouts. This is a public celebration and exploration of
the hard work your team has done over the term.

•TODAY BEGINS THE BK SIGNATURE SPEAKER SERIES: PEDRO NOGUERA FROM NYU author of City Schools and the American
Dream and Unfinished Business: Closing the Achievement Gap in Our Nation’s Schools will be the inaugural Signature Series
Speaker at 3:30 PM Jan 11, 2008. This event is optional for staff but you are welcome to invite peers and colleagues from other
schools to the event.

• CONGRATS to all the department teams on their presentations last Friday. Each team put time and effort into making their
deliverables a reality this semester and started off our team presentations on a positive and powerful note!

Winter Break. We look forward to hearing about your work from this event.

REGENTS WEEK SCHEDULE WILL BE HANDED OUT AT


THE END OF STAFF MEETING TODAY.
TEAM PRESENTATIONS TO FULL STAFF IN JAN: The following teams will present their deliverables (a 10-20 minute public
celebration and discussion of your teams work) at full staff meetings during the end of first semester.
JAN 2: Work meeting: Grade Teams JAN 9: Department Team Presentations
JAN 4: Leadership Team Presentations JAN 11 or 16: Grade Team & Extra Presentations

HEADS UP: Upon the completion of PD Evolution #3 (first semester) we will be going into a two-week redesign period after
Regents. Second semester dates and cohort assignments etc. will not me published until we have a series of roundtable
discussions with the whole staff to gather input on the design of Evolution #4. Prior to these roundtables (Jan 11) all staff will fill
out a survey about Evolution #3 to gather data.

• BIG VISIT ON JANUARY 16, 2008: 9:30 AM Nancy W. Streim Associate Vice President for School and
Community Partnerships & Special Advisor to the Provost Columbia University Teachers College will be visiting BK.

•HEADS UP! Many visitors will continue to come by BK in the upcoming months for various reasons. Sometimes, due to the nature
of these visitors’ schedules we can’t always give the kind of advance notice some might like. To those ends it is important to
remember your classroom is a public space and you should always be putting your best pedagogical foot forward every day
with or without an outside observer. COMING SOON: a visit from the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators President
Ernie Logan. Date and time TBA.

WANTED: Staff (does not have to be a teachers) sponsor to take over the Building with Books Program. BWB is non-profit
program involved in community service work domestically and internationally. OT pay will be made available for BWB events that
take place outside of the school day. If interested see Andi Brown for more information and then Josh.

• JANUARY 29, 2008: The Bronx Small Schools Collaborative PD. This Event occurs during second semester so it is not on your
present calendar. Three sets of BK staff will be presenting that day. All pedagogical staff are required to attend the event.
