AP is offering scholarships to teachers for 2015 AP Summer Institutes through five programs, detailed below.
Scholarship Program Timeline
Application launch: December 1, 2015
Application deadline: February 1, 2016
Notification of scholarship award: March 15, 2016
Letter of commitment (formal scholarship acceptance) deadline: April 15, 2016

AP Redesign
AP Redesign scholarships are awarded to teachers with no other sources of funding who are planning to attend
an AP Summer Institute for one of the redesigned subjects launching in fall 2016: AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC,
or World History. AP Redesign scholarships cover the cost of APSI tuition only.
Scholarship requirements
Teachers must:

Be planning to teach AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, or World History in the 201617 academic year; and
Teach in districts with a median income of below $87,500 and/or at schools in which at least 50 percent of
students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

AP Fellows
AP Fellows is an annual competitive grant program that provides AP Summer Institute scholarships for high school
teachers at schools serving minority or low-income students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP
courses. The $1,000 scholarships cover the cost of APSI tuition; any remaining funds may be applied to travel and
expenses.
Scholarship requirements
Teachers must:

At least 50 percent of the student population consists of underrepresented minority (AfricanAmerican, Hispanic/Latino, and/or American Indian) students

o

At least 50 percent of the student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch; and
Not have received a College Board APSI scholarship for the same subject within the last three years.

2016 AP Fellows Recommendation Form Must be completed by the applicants principal, assistant principal,
department head, or staff member who assigns courses.
AP Rural Fellows
AP Rural Fellows is an annual competitive grant program that provides AP Summer Institute scholarships for
teachers serving in rural areas of the country. The $1,500 scholarships cover APSI tuition; any remaining funds
may be applied to travel and expenses.
Scholarship requirements
Teachers must:

Teach at schools that are classified as rural by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and in
which at least 50 percent of the student qualify for free or reduced-price lunch; and
Not have received a College Board APSI scholarship for the same subject within the last three years.

Teach at a school in which at least 51 percent of the population consists of Hispanic/Latino students
