Michael P. Collins is University Professor and Bahen-Tanenbaum

Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Toronto. For about
30 years he has led a research program at Toronto aimed at
developing simple, rational approaches to the analysis and design of
reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. He has participated in
formulating codes of practice for the design of buildings, bridges,
nuclear containment structures and offshore oil platforms in Canada
and the United States. As an active consulting engineer he has been
involved in a number of failure investigations, in the evaluation and
rehabilitation of buildings and bridges, and in the design of high-rise
buildings, offshore platforms, concrete silos and bridges.
