Summary:

This research was carried out by Sir Manan Aslam in Aug 2013 in which he thoroughly
discussed the ways of promoting rural entrepreneurship and the effects that it has on the
development and progress of countrys economy as a whole. He executed a training program
organized by University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. The participants from that particular region
of Faisalabad attempted to formulate a policy to develop the agricultural sector. For this,
improving rural entrepreneurs performance would play a vital role.
People from the rural areas usually have the agribusinesses on a smaller scale i-e average small
town venture has slightly more than 2% and for village enterprise its ratio is just 1.74%. Some
of them are hired and paid labors but mostly they are unpaid family workers. Only 24% hiring of
employees in small town ventures and 12% in village enterprises occur. It is usually considered
to be a small scale business thats why only 3% of small town enterprises and 1% of village
enterprises have more than 5 workers. We must promote agribusiness on a larger scale.
The success of agri-business highly depends on the well-organized, effectual and qualified
entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurial skills must be imparted to the farmers so that they could attain the
various marketing opportunities in their local communities. Its main purpose is to emphasize the
rural entrepreneurs to expand their business to a larger scale so as to contribute to the
development of countrys economy and promoting new technologies.
The biggest problem of rural areas is the increasing population growth rate and migration of
people towards urban areas due to inappropriate facilities. Existing rural economic development
policies do not emphasize on the development and establishment of existing businesses through
entrepreneurial skills. We must promote local entrepreneurs because they would utilize the local
natural resources and create wealth and would provide many employment facilities by creating
jobs. This results in the well being of rural communities and would not become a burden on the
countrys economy but would contribute towards its development. These enterprises would result
in mass production which could be exported to the foreign countries and in this way ratio of its
contribution towards countrys annual GDP could be increased.

All the current policies, programs and agendas towards the development of the rural areas could
not bring significant changes due to lack of tested sustainable models. They tend to focus on the
subsidies and other grants provided to the farmers rather than improving and developing rural
entrepreneurship. Briefly saying, improving rural entrepreneurship would contribute a lot not
only towards the rural economic development and also countrys economic development.
