1. Purpose:
This Conceptual Study is a document that provides the general and technical
Information to be used in the new Basic Design and Detail Engineering of the
Installation of Early Production Facilities on Z1-8-A Platform.

2. Project Description
The Albacora Field which lies within the Block Z-1 Concession Area is developed
and operated by BPZ Energy Inc. The Field is located approximately 8 miles off the
coast of Peru 1 mile south of the international boundary with Ecuador.
The field was originally discovered by Tenneco in 1972 with the drilling of the 8-X-2
exploratory well which tested over 5000 BOPD and significant quintiles of natural
gas. Subsequent development activities by Tenneco and later by Belco Petroleum
were only partially successful with the field finally temporarily abandoned in January
1978. A total of approximately 100,000 BO were produced from the 3 production
wells before the field was shut in. A 4-pile platform remains at the site along with
the 3 shut-in production wells.
The field development provides for collecting the oil, gas and water produced from
the Albacora field on the existing platform Z1-8-A. The platform has a top deck, a
mezzanine deck and a well head deck, where will be installed the Early Production
Facilities to process the fluids of oil, gas and water. The oil will be delivered to
Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) via submarine pipeline, in the platform the gas
will be burner and the water treated before of its disposal. The oil will be periodically
loaded from the FSO to the shuttle tanker for transportation to the Talara Refinery
approximately 100 Miles south of the site.
The Production rate to be process for the Production Facilities is the following:

Maximum oil production of 10,000 BOPD

Maximum water production of 9,000 BWPD
Maximum gas production of 20 MMSCFD
Maximum emulsion Oil/Water 5,000 BPD

Three Phase Separators

Torch Gas flare
Treater

The Platform Z1-8-A has XXX free conductors to be drilling . The Nuuanu FSO
has a storage capacity of 38,000 BBLS. The production of Oil will be are sent
directly by one 6 submarines lines from Z1-8-A Platform to a PLEM located near
the spread mooring station and 6" flexible hose from the PLEM to the Nuuanu
FSO. The gas produced will be burner and the water will disposal in the Platform.
This scope document will outline the basic field development option and provide
the basis for a +- 20% cost for the proposed facilities.
The estimated schedule for this project will be 10 months (April 2010).

3. Metocean and Environmental Details for the FSO and submarine Line
Installation
The water depth is 31 meters. Ambient weather, seabed and marine conditions
should in general be similar to those for Corvina.
The coastal areas of Peru are exceptionally dry and mild. Prevalent wave heights
are 5 to 8 feet. Swell directions are generally from the south (45% from the south,
20.9% from the southeast, and 27.6% from the southwest). Wave heights typically
do not exceed 16.2 feet, though the projected 100 year storm wave is given as 30.0
feet as shown below. Strong winds are unusual along the coast and temperatures
generally range between lows of 59F to highs of 87F. Maximum currents are
typically 0.83 to 2.48. knots, though the current to be used for the design basis is
2.48 knots at the surface. Tidal variations in sea level are typically 1.43 m.
This area of Peru is seismically active. The activity level is equivalent to the
average between Zones 3 and 4 in the US. Potential tsunami effects are
considered to be small resulting in increased water depth of less than 0.60 m. at
the Albacora location.
The following table summarizes wind, wave and current characteristics to be used
for design.

A Horizontal Treater of L.P. 72 x 12 Ft. x 283 MAWP with Electrostatic
coalescence system will be provided, in which independent AC and DC
hydrophilic electrodes are employed to provide more complete
dehydration of an oil emulsion. The AC field is produced between an AC
electrode array and the water-oil interface wherein the AC electrode
array is positioned parallel to the interface which acts as a grounded
electrode. The emulsion is introduced into the AC field in an evenly
distributed manner at the interface. The AC field promotes drop-drop and
drop-interface coalescence of the water phase in the entering emulsion.
The continuous oil phase passes upward through the perforated AC
electrode array and enters a strong DC field produced between closely
spaced DC electrodes in which small dispersed droplets of water
entrained in the continuous phase are removed primarily by collection at
hydrophilic DC electrodes. Large droplets of water collected by the
electrodes migrate downward through the AC electrode array to the
interface.
The Treater is to be designed to process 5,000 BPD of emulsion
oil/water produced. The target outlet concentration will be less than 30
ppm measured gravimetrically. Baffles and level controls will be provided
as required.

designed to provide a water of exposed surface of the vessels. Upon
detection of fire in any zone, all deluge valves are automatically
operated, with provision for manual operation. In addition to supplying to
the deluge system, the fire water pumps also provide water to manually
operated hose reels. Two hose reels each are provided in the perimeter
of Facilities and utility module. One fire hose station will be installed at
each level of the living quarters.
