Case Parts
Trim Piece
1. Start in the right rear corner. Use a screwdriver through the slot by the top of the
connector area to release the first catch for the trim piece.
2. The remaining trim catches across the top rear of the printer should be released by
sliding a finger underneath the trim piece from right to left.
3. Release the catch on the middle left side of the Trim Piece.
4. Release the catch on the middle right side of the Trim Piece.
5. Release the catch on the lower left side of the Trim Piece.
6. Release the catch on the lower right side of the Trim Piece.

Tray Parts
Input, Output Tray
1. Rotate and remove the Output Tray.
2. Remove the Screw in the Input Tray.
3. Slide the Input Tray out toward the front of the printer.

Flip-Up Tray
Output Tray
1. Push in on the left wall of the tray assembly and pry it loose from the printer.
2. Remove the tray assembly screw.

Disconnect the two Trailing Cables and Main Wiring Harness from the Main PCA.
Disconnect the Service Station Flex Cable from the Main PCA.
Remove two screws from the Main PCA.
Lift and remove the Main PCA.

Carriage Assembly
1. Remove the screw from the Side Bracket.
2. Rotate and remove the Side Bracket.
3. Rotate the rearmost Service Station Cluster Gear counterclockwise to release the
Carriage.
4. Then slide the Carriage approximately to the center of the Carriage Rod.
5. Push in on the Encoder Spring and disconnect the Encoder Strip.
6. Disconnect the Encoder Strip at its right end. Gently draw the Encoder Strip to the
left to remove the Encoder Strip from the Carriage Assembly. During this process,
the Encoder Strip probably will be contaminated by grease from the Carriage Rod.
Discard the Encoder Strip.
7. Remove the Rod Spring.

Loosen or remove the Screw fixing the Belt Tensioning Assembly in place.
Push the Belt Tensioning Assembly to the left and lift off the Carriage Belt.
Remove the Carriage Belt from the Carriage Motor Pulley.
Unthread the Trailing Cables from the Backbone Assembly.
Slide the Trailing Cable Clamp to the right and remove it from the Backbone
Assembly.
6. Remove one black and two silver Screws from the Carriage Rod.
7. Carefully lift and remove the Carriage Rod/Carriage Assembly.

Remove two screws holding the Carriage Motor to the Backbone.
Remove the Carriage Motor.
If desired, remove the Encoder Spring.

Remove the screw holding the Duplexer Interconnect PCB to the Chassis.
Remove Thru-Hole Cable Ties by compressing with needle-nosed pliers.
Disconnect the Wiring Harness from the Paper path Motor
Disconnect the Wiring Harness from the Paper path Encoder Board.
Remove the Wiring Harness from the Chassis.

Platen Removal
Starwheel Structure Removal, Platen Cap Removal
1. Remove two screws.
2. Lift and remove the Starwheel Structure.
3. Gently use flat-blade screwdriver to release the Platen Cap rear snaps.
4. Rotate and remove the Platen Cap toward the rear of the printer.

Platen
1. Loosen the snap on the right side of the Platen, moving the Platen slightly to the left.
2. Lift and remove the Platen.
3. As needed, the ink absorption system may be disassembled:
a. Remove the gray Platen Baffle, which may have adhesive to hold it to
the Platen
b. Remove the Platen Absorber
c. Remove the Platen Bias
