Minimum Standard Prototype Test Sizes & Configurations

1. All materials are included under these configurations, PVC, Timber, Aluminium, Steel, Composite
2. The windows & doors depicted below are the minimum trim size for the various configurations requiring prototype testing.
They may however be a smaller size than is likely to be required for production. For this reason, it may be prudent to exceed
these sizes for testing purposes to ensure compliance of a wider range of sizes. For instance, door heights may be required
greater than shown e.g. 2400mm.
3. A 2 panel sliding window/door need only be individually tested if this is the only configuration offered. If a 3 or 4 panel option
is offered, then a 2 panel is not required to be tested as the structural requirements of the interlocker mullion and stile are
are covered in the 3 or 4 panel option.
4. When a product such as a 4 panel sliding door is too wide to conveniently test, it is acceptable to test the product by either
- leaving off duplicate lights provided that each type of light assembly and member is tested in conjunction with it's
adjacent light, or,
- To reduce the width of fixed light and provide engineering calculations to prove compliance of the deflection properties of
members that have been tested with the reduced loading.
- The effect on water penetration aspects of these tests will usually be more conservative.
5. Where a window and door use the same framing, sealing and hardware systems e.g. bi-fold and sliding windows/doors, then
it is considered acceptable to test only the door. The window need only show compliance by engineering calculation for
deflection properties of stiles etc...
6. It is the responsibility of the IANZ Authorised Representative of each PSS to ensure that the most up-to-date test reports are
submitted to the WANZ office for filing. If modifications are made to a product, it is at the discretion of this representatives as
to whether the report should be modified and re-submitted to the WANZ office.
7. All units that are manufactured from multiple lights and coupled/jointed need to comply to the full requirements of the standard
