MISCELLENEOUS WORKS

FIRE DOORS SPECIFICATIONS - METAL


Tested at CBRI for stability and integrity as per IS 3614 (Part 2, 1992) BS476 (Part 20 &
22 and ISO 834) and approved by Tariff Advisory Committee
Fire rating: 2 Hours
Material:
Door frame and leaves manufactured from galvanized steel
Door frames:
Made from 1.6mm thick galvanized steel sheet press formed to double rebate profile of
size 143x57mm (+or-0.3mm) with a maximum bending radius of 1.4mm
The frames to be provided in knock down form with butt joints for bolted assembly at site
and also to have provision for installation on finished plastered wall openings with anchor
fasteners and frames to be pressure grouted with cement / concrete slurry after
installation through pre-punched holes on the frame. Holes to be capped with nylon plugs
after grouting. Frames to be pre-punched and prepared at factory with suitable
reinforcements to receive approved hardware fittings. Hinges to be flush fixed on frames
with screws.
Frames shall be fixed on plastered openings with the help of metallic expansion shield
with counter sunk screw.
Door Shutter:
Constructed from 1.25mm thick galvanized steel sheet press formed to provide a 46mm
thick fully flush, double skin door shell with lock seam joints at stile edges. Internal
reinforcements are provided at top, bottom and stile edges for fire ratings. The internal
construction of the door is a specially designed honey comb structure with
reinforcements at top, bottom and stile surrounds. The internal construction of the door
varies with the degree of fire rating as tested.
Vision glass:
Fire rated vision glass with Borro Silicate float glass 6mm thick clear glass shall be
provided for a maximum of 2 hours fire rating. The vision glass shall be provided in
square size of 300mm x 300mm. Vision panel to be fixed by using two frames of the
same of size with the help of 2 straps with spring clips (clip on system)
Finish:
Door frames and shutter shall be finished with etched primer coating, stoved zinc
phosphate primer and PU coating of approved colour.
Gap between wall openings door frame shall be closed with polysulphide sealant / Silpruf
manufactured by GE Bayer Silicones. The constructions of door frame and shutter,
painting, assembling, installing etc., should be as per specifications including, cutting,
fabricating, welding, bolting, providing, infill, painting, providing and fixing necessary
hardware fittings, as per specifications, fixing doors at all heights, pressure grouting the
frame with cement / concrete slurry etc., all complete as per specifications, drawings and
as directed by Engineer-in-Charge.

GENERAL PURPOSE DOORS SPECIFICATIONS - METAL


Steel door: Hinged Type
Providing and fixing in position factory made pressed steel single / double / three shutter
door with frames.
Frame:
Single rebate profile steel frames (with / without threshold) of size 100mm x 57mm to be
manufactured from 1.25 mm (18 gauge) thick galvanized steel sheet conforming to IS
277 (1992). The frames to be provided in knock down form with butt joints for bolted
assembly at site and also to have provision for installation on finished plastered wall
openings with anchor fasteners and frames to be pressure grouted with cement /
concrete slurry after installation through pre-punched holes on the frame. Holes to be
capped with nylon plugs after grouting. Frames to be pre-punched and prepared at
factory with suitable reinforcements to receive approved hardware fittings. Hinges to be
flush fixed on frames with screws.

Shutter:
Steel door shutter (single / double / three) of 46mm thick to be manufactured from
0.90mm galvanized steel sheet conforming to IS 277 (1992). Shutter to be press formed
double skin fully flush with lock seam joints at stile edges, with no visible joints, screws,
welding on the face of the shutter. Shutters to be pre-punched and prepared with suitable
reinforcement to receive approved hardware fittings at site. Shutters to have pre-drilled
hinge plates with hinge guard covers.
Incase of double shutter the meeting gaps between the two shutters to be covered by
astragals spot welded on to each shutter on the opposite stiles.
Infill:
Shutters to be provided with PUF infill material.
Vision glass:
Normal vision glass with 6mm thick clear float glass shall be provided. The vision glass
shall be provided in square size of 300mm x 300mm. Vision panel to be fixed by using
two frames of the same of size with the help of 2 straps with spring clips (clipon system)
Finish:
Door frames and shutter shall be finished with etched primer coating, stoved zinc
phosphate primer and PU / Powder coating / equivalent coating of approved colour.
Gap between wall openings door frame shall be closed with Silpruf sealant manufactured
by GE Bayer Silicones. The construction of door frame and shutter, painting, assembling,
installing etc., should be as per specifications including, cutting, fabricating, welding,
bolting, providing, infill, painting, providing and fixing necessary hardware fittings as per
specifications, fixing doors at all heights, pressure grouting the frame with cement /
concrete slurry etc., all complete as per specifications, drawings and as directed by
Engineer-in-Charge.

The following scope of works mentioned below shall be considered in the contractors offer
1. All exposed metal / glass surfaces, allied fixtures / fitting of the door shall be protected with
appropriate plastic adhesive film or any other method of system till handing over of the
project.
2. Site clearance such as clearing of work premises , shifting of debris out side the site and
house keeping etc.,
3. You shall coordinate with various agencies involving in the project to obtain the correct line,
level, opening size for successful installation of doors to avoid errors in the scope of works.
4. You shall carryout miscellaneous works such as chipping, dismantling, finishing the gaps with
concrete, plastering the surface with cement mortar
5. You shall carryout additional works, if released during the tenure of this project for additional
service buildings at your agreed quoted rates. Please note that any increase in the price due
to improper interpretation of drawings, scope or any other information provided to you, no
extra claim shall be considered whatsoever.
6. The fire doors supplied shall be supported by C.B.R.I. (Central Building Research Institute,
Roorkee) test reports of test conducted by the vendor earlier along with TAC [Tariff Advisory
Committee now Loss Prevention Association (LPA)] approval. Individual manufacturers
certificates for hardware like panic devices, door closer shall be submitted by the vendor.
7. Three sets of master keys shall be provided for each level of the floor with grand master key
for all the floors of the block. These shall be discussed with the architects and owner before
placement of order.

SUBMITTALS
1. Along with Bid
A. Technical Data sheet:
1. Include manufacturer's specifications for materials, fabrication,
installation, and recommendations for maintenance including basic
proposal drawings.
2. Project schedule for the successful completion of works tied into the
enclosed overall project implementation schedule.
1. After Award of work and before fabrication
B. Technical Submittals with catalogues
C. Samples: Submit selection and verification samples.
D. Shop Drawings: Contractor / vendor shall submit detailed shop drawings for
review and approval by the consultants.
1. Drawings shall include all unit elevations.
2. Include setting drawings, templates, and directions for the installation of
all the components.
3. Indicate where and how the system deviates from contract drawings and
specifications. Provide material properties and other information needed
for review.

3. After completion of Work:


E. Contract closeout information:
1. Warranty: Project Warranty documents as described herein.
2. As built and Record Documents: Two copies of documents for installed
materials hard and soft copies on a CD in accordance with this contract
3. Maintenance Manuals: Submit 2 copies of a maintenance manuals hard
& soft copies on a CD to the Owner. The manual shall include schedules
for routine inspection, an inspection checklist, instructions for emergency
repair and use of emergency repair materials, and warranty.

CODES AND STANDARDS:


All works shall be designed and installed in accordance with the latest applicable IS
standards.
