TOULMIN MODEL ARGUMENT ABOUT THE ENVORNMENT

To be environmental or not may not be a difficult question for Christian people, then
again, for others it might be. However, when it comes to Christians and the Environment, the
debate is, Should Christians be worried about the ecosystem? Spending time in the bible can
clearly show Christians that they need to accept the obligation to be more active in caring for the
environment for the reason that it is God's creation. If people believe, as Christians that they are
God's workers, they should not have any part in helping destroying the earth. Any utilization of
earth's resources need to upkeep the sustainability of such assets. If this is done would be to act
in revolt against the objective of God in design and in a very real sense walk in insincerity in
regards to the environment. With that said, this paper will argue specific actions Christians
should take concerning the environment and its preservation or restoration.
The first way Christians are able to help the environment in metro parts is to recycle.
Research shows that the normal mostly takes in about 200 gallons of cola, 30 gallons of juice,
134 gallons of milk, and 30 gallons of drinking water in the bottled per year (Bianchi, 2009).
Experts agree, if the math is done, that is a lot of containers that can be reprocessed. This number
does not just relate to families in metro parts, but all families. Experts go on to mention the fact
of imagining the resources people are able to save if the world would just recycle everything.
Studies show that recycling is not just another way to perform a good deed, however, it
does manage to saves resources. There is another statistic that shows recycling does serve its
purpose of helping the environment. It shows that the average American utilizes about 650
pounds of paper every year. Tons of wood could be salvaged every year if all that paper was
reprocessed. Experts on the environment make the point that it would be a shame for us to
consume all of the natural resources while expecting for the return of Jesus Christ. Christians are
able to help the environment by just recycling. For believers in the Lord, this should be a really
easy thing to do. A lot of cities in the metro area have separate containers for the waste and
recyclable substances. The cities are doing the recycling for people; Christians just need the selfrestraint to put them in the appropriate containers. Some Christian families, have kids that love
the accountability of putting the recyclable substances in the correct container.
The second way for Christians to help the environment in city areas is just as easy as the
first. Christians can car pool to save a whole lot of gas. Research shows that pollution is on the
rise and not getting any better. In fact, it is increasing at a much higher rate. Many Christians live
in areas where they have different code levels for the quantities of pollution. This pollution is in
the air on any assumed day. In these polluted places, if the code level goes up to level orange,
then they understand that they are counseled to spend as much time indoors as likely. As stated
by University of Georgia: A little car has the ability to produce about .59 pounds of carbon
dioxide for every mile, an average size car produces about 1.1 pounds of carbon dioxide for
every mile, and a van/4 wheel releases about 2.57 pounds of carbon dioxide for every mile
(Berry, 2009.).

TOULMIN MODEL ARGUMENT ABOUT THE ENVORNMENT

When an individual is able to look at the amount of single passenger cars on the road it not
hard to see that if people car pool, then it would make a huge difference. In the United States,
single occupant travelling is about 85% as stated by census data (Attfield, 2003). With that said,
not only does it decrease emissions into the air, nonetheless it will likewise save a lot of money.
It is not rare for people who are living in metro regions to save over a hundred dollars a month
just by simply carpooling each other around. There are people that gave testimonies, for instance,
with some of them working in the manufacturing business, they would save around three
hundred dollars a month by just carpooling their friends and families around. In nowadays
economy three hundred dollars can stretch a long time. City areas likewise make it easy to car
pool by putting in HOV lanes for those who are carpooling to make it to work quicker. As
Christians carpooling not only reduces emissions and saves them much money, nonetheless it is
also very easy to do.
Christians can also assist the environment in city areas by adopting a highway. Adopting
a highway can be very beneficial especially when it comes to making sure the environment is
clean. A few years ago, there was a pastor that felt God was moving his heart to lead his student
ministry to take on a highway. The public road that they adopted is the highway that leads to
their church. After devoting the first couple of weeks taking care of their new service project, the
pastor came to the conclusion that littering is was turning out to be a huge problem. Research
shows that 85% of Americans came to the understanding that they were responsible for littering
during the last 7 years (Gebara, 1999.). This is saying that at the very least most Americans have
been responsible for littering at least once in the last seven years.
That is saying that it equals up to a bunch of trash. The idea of adopting highways basically
keeps the areas wherein we live, work, and even worship lovely. Some experts in the Christian
religion believe that if Christians would just inspire others to adopt a highway, or even support a
community, and clean up the trash, people could make a huge difference. They believe that
people would no longer be looked as anti-environmental, and would be able to set a much better
example.
When it comes to the bible supporting an effective environment it is important to know
Jesus was an expert at doing it. Some pastors argue that Jesus closeness with Creation goes
together with his recovery of Creation just as his closeness with individuals goes together with
their restoration, also. All through his earthly ministry, Jesus loved the environment and the
people living in it. Jesus spent time with them, ate a lot of meals with people, instructed them,
cared for them, and even healed them, - and finally redeemed them in the end. His love for
people was crucial and it is made clear in numerous scriptures.

It can also be said the same is true in respects to Jesus affiliation with Creation. All
through the new testament, it is clear that Jesus spend a lot of time with Nature. He uses it as the
place where he goes to communicate with God. Jesus selects it as the place where he discloses
the most important things to his neighboring associates. This intimacy with Nature, and this
respect for its significance, is the motive Jesus protects and uses it. The bible shows that Jesus
redemption imitates a loving relationship with individuals, and with the complete world.
Another specific actions Christians should take regarding the environment and its
preservation or restoration is being an advocate for what is right. There are a lot of people in the
Western world who dedicate their lives to the business which provides harmony, organization,
course, meaning and a steady salary. Nonetheless the ultimate drive of most companies is not the
development of human life or the preservation and expansion of Gods good creation, not to
mention participating in eternity. The definitive value of practically all companies is financial
profit for the stockholders.
In serving the company which is dedicated to the expansion of revenue (greed), private
evil has been turned into public asset in the name of rivalry. Some pastors believe that
competition turns human beings against each other so that some may get greater homes whereas
others are displaced, some possibly will gorge themselves while others have nothing to eat, and
some possibly will clothe themselves to extra while others must live in secondhand goods. With
that being said, it is clear that the church is charged not just with calling persons to remorse and
conversion, nonetheless also to make sure that others feel guilty about not taking care of the
environment. Some pastors believe that Christians need to encourage fuel efficiency. They need
to do this by teaching that air pollution particles that are created from power plants and cars fall
into the ocean in raindrops, poisoning the water with additional nitrogen and soiling fish with

toxic mercury (Gebara, 1999). It needs to be the job of the Christians to make sure that this is
explained in a way that gets the attention of companies that are responsible in doing this. They
also need to educate companies on reduce the use of pesticides and fertilizers. Christians can be
the ones to help companies explain that runoff from lawns, parking lots, farms, streets, and
construction sites is a main source of pollution in the ocean. The last thing is that Christians can
teach other companies how to enjoy responsible recreation. They can then go on to explain that
those that love the ocean spend a lot of time on, in, and under the water. Christians can push the
point that the way a person engages in these activities regulates whether their influence is
negative or positive.
In conclusion, whether or not being ecological concerned is scriptural, people as
Christians are still able to do their part. Some pastors believe that people do not have to abandon
Gods will for the sake of being conservational, nonetheless, they do believe that as people go
about our lives, they should be able to be mindful of the issues that are going on. It is not that
hard to comprehend. Experts believe that if people just adopt a highway, recycle, and car pool,
that Christians will make a difference (Rossing, 2005). As Paul transcribed to Titus and tested
him to be an example to others that are watching Christians, so other people should be an
example also by doing what they know is good. Some experts that are Christians believe that
people do not need reasons such as, conservation or cost-effective purposes, but merely for the
reason that it is a good thing to do.
