ARCHITECTS (and CRITICS) WHO HELPED BREAK THE MOLD OF MODERNISM

Modernism at its peak may have seen its best expression in the International Style and
its sleek, functional and structurally honest landmarks of Mies van der Rohe and his disciples.
Starting from perhaps 1968, when Robert Venturi declared his battlecry against the rigid dictates
of the International Styles Glass Box Less is a bore a batch of architects consciously
aspired to arrive at an architectural style distinct from the predictable and boring glass boxes
of Modernism. Arguably, these architectural styles and their proponents can be loosely classified
as Post-Modern.
