PERFORMING A NEW FRAMIT TEST

1. Create a new transformer record using one of the following methods:
Select "New Transformer" by right clicking on the transformer list of the data browser.
Select "New Transformer" from the Transformer menu.
Click on the "New Transformer" button on the FRAMIT toolbar.
2. Enter the transformer details into the "New Transformer Details" dialogue box.
3. Store the transformer details to the database by clicking on the OK button. If you decide not to
store the transformer details, simply click on the Cancel button.
A new test can be initiated once a transformer is created and selected.
4. Initiate a new test using one of the following methods:
Select "New Test" by right clicking on the test list of the data browser.
Select "New Test" from the Tests menu.
Click on the "New Test" button on the FRAMIT toolbar.
5. Conduct a new test following the new test procedure as shown on the computer screen.
Below is an example of the New Test dialogue box and the corresponding test lead setup.
Figure 1: New Test Dialogue Box Procedure
In this example (Figure 1), the dialogue box outlines
the following test lead connections for the first
winding test:
Connect the RED INPUT clip to H2 Terminal.
Connect the BLACK OUPUT clip to H3 Terminal:
Connect the GREEN OUPUT clip securely to a solid
earth point of the metal transformer tank surface:

6. Connect all the test leads according to the information shown in the new test procedure
dialogue box.
7. Begin the test by hitting the Start Test button. The program will perform the first Winding test.
At this point, the impulse generator will automatically provide the voltage injections. These
signals are used to set the data capture units input range. The program will automatically
generate the first Windings frequency response fingerprint as shown in the example below
(Figure 3):
Figure 3: FRAMIT Test Results

IMPORTANT: The INPUT Voltage graph appearing on your test-screen should be similar in
shape to the one shown above. The OUTPUT Voltage graph and the frequency response result
may however be different. It is extremely important that the tops of the INPUT VOLTAGE
signal and the OUTPUT VOLTAGE signal ARE NOT clipped.
8. Either Keep or Redo this Winding test.
9. Repeat the above steps for the remaining 5 winding tests.

10. Once all six-winding tests are complete, enter all the relevant
information into the Test Details tab as per the example shown in
Figure 4. It is important that the TEST NAME entered here is
meaningful for easy retrieval at a later date. Test details can be
edited again at a later stage if need be.
11. Save the test by clicking on the OK button.

B. OPENING AN EXISTING FRAMIT TEST:

1. Select the relevant transformer record from the data browser.
2. Open an existing test using one of the following methods:
Double click on the test in the data browser.
Right click on the test list in the data browser to bring up the pop-up menu. Select the Open
Test(s) menu option. If you have selected multiple tests in the data browser and you are
using this method to open a test, then all the selected tests will be opened.
Click on the Open Test button in the Toolbar.
Click on the Tests | Open Test menu option.
