PROCLAMATION NO. 296

DECLARING THE MARIKINA WATERSHED RESERVATION SITUATED IN THE CITY OF
ANTIPOLO AND IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF BARAS, RODRIGUEZ, SAN MATEO
AND TANAY, ALL IN THE PROVINCE OF RIZAL AS PROTECTED AREA
PURSUANT TO REPUBLIC ACT NO. 7586 OR THE NATIONAL INTEGRATED
PROTECTEO AREAS SYSTEM (NIPAS) ACT OF 1992 AND SHALL BE KNOWN AS
THE UPPER N,IARIKINA RIVER BASIN PROTECTED LANDSCAPE

Upon lhe recommendation of the Secretary of the Department of Environment and

Natural Resources and by virtue of the powers vested in me by law, l, BENIGNO S. AQUINO
lll, President of the Republic of the Philippines do hereby set aside and dectare the Marikina
Watershed Reservation situated in the City of Antipolo ano in the Municrpalilies of Baras,
Rodriguez, San Mateo and Tanay, all in the Provtnce of Rizal as a protected area under the
category of Protected Landscape, subject to the operations of previous proclamations and
property rights and without prqudice to the rights of the lndigenous Peoples as provided for in
R.A. 8371, DENR Administrative Order No. 93-02, and other relaled rules and regulations, if
any there be. as described in DENR NIPAS Map No. RO 4A-9, more particularly described as
follows:

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION

Bounded on the West by the Lungsod Silangan Townsite Reservation under

Presidential Proclamation (PP) No. 1637 dated April '18, 1977; Pamitinan Protected Landscape
under PP No. 901 dated Oclober 10, 1996; On the Southwest by the lntegrated Social
Forestry Program area under PP No. 585 dated June 5, 1990; On the South, by Alienable and
Disposable Lands; On the East by Kaliwa Watershed Forest Reserve under PP No. 573 dated
June 26, 1969 and on the North by Angat Watershed Reservation under pp No. 71 dated
March 1 0, 1927.
Beginning at Corner "1" on Map, which is identical to Corner No, 55 of Marikina
Watershed Reservation (EO No. 33), with Latitude 14'30'08.82" florth and Longitude
121'13'05.70'East:

survey and delineation.

It shall be under the administrative jurisdiction and control of the Department of

Environment and Nalural Resources and shall be administered in accordance with the
provisions of R.A. No. 7586 and its lmplementing Rules and Regulations.
