Reflection HD 497

Capstone
In the beginning of this semester I had mixed feelings about this class. Past Capstone
students filled my head with negatives like above all it was a waste of time. On the contrary, I
found this class to be very relevant to my journey at Pacific Oaks. Final self-evaluations on
individual courses are different from communicating what I have learned from my course work
about human development. Re-evaluating each course empowered me with a feeling of
accomplishment and proved to me that I have grown immensely through the knowledge I have
gained at Pacific Oaks. Writing, submitting, and re-writes, I started my journey in HD 489 this
way, its easier this time and a fitting way to end my journey. The effort and time given to each
one of us in class by Professor Robin concerning our writing, editing, and ideas is a testament to
her professionalism and commitment to education and helping her students become the best that
they can be.
The contributions made by all in this class were motivating, caring and supportive. I
have had personal difficulties this semester and I dont think I could have completed this class
without the supportive attitudes of my cohort sisters and Professor Robin. Life happens, has
taken on a whole new meaning for me. It is a term of acceptance and unfounded support that has
been stressed throughout my journey at Pacific Oaks. This is a concept that will continue to
stimulate my thinking professionally and personally and I plan on paying it forward whenever I
can. Thank you to all who have been a part of journey.
