With regards to my project I feel as though I sufficiently executed the task of
teaching my suitemate, Chad, the concept of genre and its related parts. I received
nothing but positive comments for my work on the video script, with both my group
mates during the workshop saying that they really liked it and thought that the
scenario of myself explaining genre in a casual manner funny and effective as the
video was basically of the project itself as it had the second genre of the webpage in
the video and then the video itself was the other genre. In addition to a positive
reaction from my peers, Chad did say that he honestly benefitted from helping me
write the script and that it will probably prove useful down the road when he is
doing video type projects as he will now be able to better understand what the
influential factors for designing a video are when making a video that is to convey
an idea to a certain audience. I believe that I met the requirements for the project
as I was challenged to use different genres than ones I was more familiar with (not
making a PowerPoint or a Prezi), instead going with writing a script for a video which
was something I hadnt done before. Additionally, the project helped me gain a
better understanding of rhetorical situation in that I had better assess my audience
when determining what genres to use to teach him. My main worry still is that the
lack of an actual video is detrimental to the entirety of the project in the sense that
it looks as though I didnt really put much effort in. I also am wondering if my
webpage article genre is too short to be considered to be proper genre.
