Union Government enhances Financial Powers of Ministries, Departments.


The financial power of the Minister-in-charge of the administrative Ministry
can now approve Non-Plan schemes costing less than 500 crore rupees. The
earlier limit for this was 150 crore rupees.
India Post opens My Stamp' scheme for individuals and corporate

CSIR-CIMFR inked MoU for coal quality analysis with coal supplying companies
PM Narendra Modi launches Projects for 20 Smart Cities in Pune. Projects
launched in Pune include slum rehabilitation, street and pedestrian walkway,

URJA (Urban Jyoti Abhiyaan) Mobile app launched to enhance consumer
connect with Urban Power Distribution sector

PM Modi outlines RAPID, a five-point charter for tax administrators at the
Rajasva Gyan Sangam. It will help to focus on digitization, voluntary tax
compliance, facilitation for taxpayers, increasing the tax base, upgradation of
digital and physical infrastructure for tax administrators etc.

Microsoft & AICTE signed agreement to build app for HRD ministry's SWAYAM
platform. Microsoft signed a deal of 38 crore rupees with All India Council of
Technical Education (AICTE) to build and run the app for three years. Later, it
will be taken over by AICTE.

Draft National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy 2016 released. The policy was
unveiled as part of Union Governments attempt to reach the target of 175
Gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity from renewable energy sources by 2022.

Union Government launches Vidyanjali Mobile App for volunteer work at
government schools. Vidyanjali initiative is in line with the Union HRD
Ministry's ongoing efforts under Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat.

Pan-India Ramayana & Krishna Circuit under Swadesh Darshan Scheme
approved. During the meeting proposal to set up 11 Ramayana Circuits and 12
Krishna Circuits were approved which were earlier approved by the expert
committee.

Union Railway Minister dedicates Champaran Satyagrah Express at Motihari.
The Express was introduced to mark 100 years of the historic Champaran
Satyagraha (movement) that was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917.

Union Government launched Surya Mitra Mobile App. The Mobile App was
developed by National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) which is an autonomous
institution of Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE).

India becomes co-chair of Working Group on Maritime Situational Awareness
under CGPCS. This decision was taken through a consensus during the 19th
Plenary Session of the CGPCS that took place in Mahe, Seychelles during 31
May 3 June 2016.

India joins Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation. The
code of conduct formed in November 2002 has 138 subscribing states. The
non-subscribing states include countries like China, Pakistan, Israel and Iran.

Union Cabinet approves MoU between DGCA and French Civil Aviation
Authority. The MoU was signed to implement Technical Cooperation
Programme for promotion and implementation of Standards and
Recommended Practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization
(ICAO).

Prime Minister releases National Disaster Management Plan to make India

Union Government approved retirement age of doctors of Central Health
Services to 65

Odisha Government launches Kalinga Siksha Sathi Yojana. Kalinga Siksha Sathi
Yojana aims to provide education loan up to 10 lakh rupees at one percent
interest rate to students aspiring to pursue professional and technical
education at higher level.

UP government declares all natural calamities will be treated as state disaster

All victims of disasters that include unseasonal heavy rain, lightning, Loo and
storm will be given relief as per provisions made under State Disaster Relief
Fund by the Union government

ADB approved $500 million loan to build Indias longest river bridge across
Ganga near Patna. The 9.8 kilometer long bridge will provide vital transport
links between the northern and southern parts of Bihar and with neighbouring
Nepal.

in four countries including Thailand. In 2015, Cuba became the first country to
be validated for having successfully eliminated mother-to-child transmission
of HIV and syphilis.

Forbes released Worlds 100 Most Powerful Women 2016 list. The worlds
most powerful woman in the list is German Chancellor Angela Merkel who
fetched the first spot for six years running.

India signed MoU with USA to facilitate hassle-free entry of Indians to US

PM Modi, Ghani inaugurates Afghan-India Friendship Dam. The Dam was
earlier known as Salma Dam on the river Chist-e-Sharif in western Herat
neighbouring Iran. It will irrigate 75000 hectares of land and generate 42
Mega Watts of power.

India, Tunisia sign MoUs for co-operation in IT, handicrafts sector

India, Qatar MoU on tourism approved by Union Cabinet. Union Cabinet also
approved MoU between India and Qatar for cooperation in Skill Development
and Recognition of qualifications.

BANKING AND FINANCE


Union Cabinet approves recommendations of 7th Pay Commission. Now, the
central government employees and pensioners will get a hike of at least 23.55
percent in their salaries. The rate of annual increment for employees will be 3
percent.

RBI publishes Payment and Settlement Systems in India: Vision-2018. Vision2018 revolve around 5 Cs coverage, convenience, confidence, convergence
and cost, which can be achieved with focus on four strategic initiatives, viz.,
responsive regulation, robust infrastructure, effective supervision and
customer centricity.

Union Cabinet approves largest-ever Spectrum Auction. It will put up 700 MHz
band, which is used for offering high-speed broadband services, for sale for
the first time at a reserve price of 11485 crore rupees per MHz pan-India.

Union Cabinet approved establishment of Fund of Funds for Startups with a
corpus of 10000 crore rupees.

Union Government grants 100% FDI in Defence Sector

Union Cabinet approved merger of SBI with its five subsidiaries. Apart from
this, the Bharatiya Mahila Bank will also be merged with the SBI.

Union Cabinet approved Bill to fast track recovery of bad loans. The
Enforcement of Security Interest and Recovery of Debts Laws and
Miscellaneous Provisions (Amendment) Bill, 2016 seeks to improve ease of
doing business by fast tracking recovery of bad loans.

Union Government launches Scheme for setting up 1000 MW Wind Power
Project connected to CTU. Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has been
designated as nodal agency for implementation of the scheme.

RBI introduces Scheme for Sustainable Structuring of Stressed Assets

NIIF, Qatar Investment Authority signed MoU to facilitate investment in Indian
infrastructure sector

ADB and Union Government signed Loan Agreement to upgrade 176 Km of
roads in Jharkhand

CCEA approved Minimum Support Prices for Kharif Crops for 2016-17 Season

Singapore International Arbitration Centre to open Representative Office at
GIFT City. The representation office will be located in the Gujarat International
Finance Tec-City (GIFT City). The center will be instrumental in resolving
international commercial disputes.

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approves Mau-Tarighat Railway line
project. The total length of this new broad gauge line will be 51 kilometers.

Union Cabinet approves setting up of India Post Payments Bank

India and World Bank sign agreement to improve efficiency and attractiveness
of City Bus Services. Demonstration cities where the various initiatives for

improving city bus services will be undertaken are Mira Bhayandar in


Maharashtra, Chandigarh, Jaipur, and Bhopal.
