UPDATE: DRINKING WATER ADVISORY FOR THE TOWN
OF ARNPRIOR — AFFECTING ALL AREAS ARNPRIOR
ARNPRIOR
August 10, 2016 - 4:30 PM
The Town of Amprior has issued a Drinking Water Advisory unti further notice for ALL AREAS OF
ARNPRIOR. This advisory applies to all residents that utilize water for personal use and all
businesses that may provide drinking water to members of the public.
‘The advisory is being issued due to a loss of pressure in the water distribution system
throughout several areas of the Town. At approximately 8:45 AM, during planned water- main
construction activities, an unexpected loss of pressure occurred. Shortly thereafter, The Town
received reports from locations in the South and West portions of the Town that water users
were without water.
Following the receipt of these reports, the Town notified the Renfrew County and District
Health Unit (RCDHU) as well as the Ministry of Environment that a loss of pressure in the
Towns distribution system occurred. The RCDHU initially issued a boil water advisory and
then shorlly thereafter upgraded the advisory to a DRINKING WATER ADVISORY. which
reans that water should not be consumed or used for bathing as boiling water or chlorinating
is not a sufficient way to ensure the safety of the water.
Clean drinking water supplies are being set-up at the Nick Smith Centre. The Town will
be dispensing bulk water as well as bottled sources. If possible, please bring a
personal container to hold water if available to you. The Nick Smith Contre will be open
aed continuing to distribute clean drinking water overnight on the night of August 10"
to the morning of August 11".
Ifyou are unable to attend the Nick Smith centre to obtain water, please contact Town
Holl at 613-623-4231 and the Town will arrange delivery of water supplies for you.
The Town of Amprior is distributing this message through local media sources and is
publishing up to date information on our website at waw.amprior.ca. The Town however is
requesting help from residents to distribute this information to friends and family that may not
have access to common media sources
“The Town would lke to inform residents that Town beaches remain open and are safe for
summing. The splash pad at Robert Simpson Park however has been closed as the source
of the water for this play structure is included in this advisory.
