NormallystardestroyergunscanreachLongrange,regularweaponscanhitmedium,and
missilesandtorpedoescanhitcloseranges.

Fleetsathighrelativespeedsmaymovethroughtherangesmorequickly.Ashipcomingdown
fromorbitintoadogfightintheatmospherecangofromsensortocloserangeinonemove.
StarWarsshipscanstoporturnquickly,becauseasideeffectofgravitytechnologyistobe
abletograbontogravityfieldslikeaniceskategrabsicewhenturnedsideways,soafleet
barrellinginfromtheoutersystematextremespeedwillbeabletostopandengage.Those
whousethistechniquewillstillhavetomakepilotingrollstogetanysortofpositional
advantage.

Sometimes,though,youwillwanttheenemytostoptofightyou:hencetheuseoftractor
beamsandinterdictorglobestobringenemyshipsintoyourreferenceframeshouldtheybe

Thosedogfighterswhobeatthisrollcandecidewhatfacingoftheshiptheyareon,likeinfront,
inback,over,under,left,rightandbetargetedonlybythoseweaponsinthatfirearc,
whicharealsoareatdisadvantage(1d10or5)tohitthedogfighter.Thedogfightersalsoare
atadvantage(+1d10or+5)tohitthepassiveship.

Iftheyfailtheirdogfightroll,thepassiveshipdecideswhichsideofhisshipthedogfighterison,
andbothshipscanfirenormallyandbefiredatnormallywithoutadvantageordisadvantage.

Handyjungle,citytowers,asteroidfields,orotherobstacles:
Afleeingshipmaybeableto
escapefastershipsbygoingintoterrain.Youcantemporarilyavoidbeingtargetedbyavessel
bymakingabetterpilotingrollwhilethereareobstacles:youandyourfoewillnotbeableto
shootateachother,oryoumaygetacoverbenefit(seecover,below).Theothervesselmay
havetopursueintothedangerousterraintochaseyouonsubsequentrounds:theterrainwill
