Notes on Safety
This manual does not constitute a complete catalog of all safety measures required for
operating the equipment (module, device) in question because special operating conditions
might require additional measures. However, it does contain notes that must be adhered to for
your own personal safety and to avoid damage to property. These notes are highlighted with a
warning triangle and different keywords indicating different degrees of danger.
Danger
means that death, serious bodily injury or considerable property damage will occur, if the appropriate
precautionary measures are not carried out.
Warning
means that death, serious bodily injury or considerable property damage can occur, if the appropriate
precautionary measures are not carried out.
Caution
means that minor bodily injury or property damage could occur, if the appropriate precautionary measures
are not carried out.
Hint
is important information about the product, the handling of the product or the respective part of the
documentation, to which special attention is to be given.
Qualified Personnel
Commissioning and operation of the equipment (module, device) described in this manual must be
performed by qualified personnel only. As used in the safety notes contained in this manual, qualified
personnel are those persons who are authorized to commission, release, ground, and tag devices,
systems, and electrical circuits in accordance with safety standards.
Use as Prescribed
The equipment (device, module) must not be used for any other purposes than those described in the
Catalog and the Technical Description. If it is used together with third-party devices and components,
these must be recommended or approved by Siemens.
Correct and safe operation of the product requires adequate transportation, storage, installation, and
mounting as well as appropriate use and maintenance.
During operation of electrical equipment, it is unavoidable that certain parts of this equipment will carry
dangerous voltages. Severe injury or damage to property can occur if the appropriate measures are not
taken:
Before making any connections at all, ground the equipment at the PE terminal.
Hazardous voltages can be present on all switching components connected to the power supply.
Even after the supply voltage has been disconnected, hazardous voltages can still be present in the
equipment (capacitor storage).
Equipment with current transformer circuits must not be operated while open.
The limit values indicated in the manual or the operating instructions must not be exceeded; that also
applies to testing and commissioning.

SICAM TM systems may only be installed horizontally or vertically. The vertical installation is
to be preferred, since this provides a considerably more space-saving and efficient
installation. The cabling of external cables is also made significantly easier as a result.
horizontal installation
vertical installation
Not permissible are installations on the ceiling (own weight) and on the floor (dust level).
27
Assembly
3.2.3.
Space Requirement
The space requirement of a completely configured SICAM TM peripheral element (power
supply, master control unit, up to 8 I/O modules) in the width comes to 630 mm (without end
bracket and terminal strip marker for the system designation).
The space requirement for the height depends on several factors. Besides the size of the
module itself (130mm), the size of the cable ducts used and their minimum distance to the
modules is to be taken into account. This distance is 20 mm if no lead labeling is to take place
and 30 mm if the leads are to be fitted with labeling bushes.

The optical Ax Bus Interface Module can be installed on the TS35 rail by hand, without any
tools.
To do this, the module is engaged in a slanted position with the carrier rail retainer in the
upper edge of the TS35 rail . One then turns the housing until the carrier rail retainer also
has contact with the lower edge of the rail . By pressing on the housing the retainer
opens a little and the housing snaps into the guide.

without any tools.
For details concerning the handling of a TM module refer to section 3.7, Installing TM
Modules.

Installing TM Modules
3.7.1.
Peripheral connector
On the modules there are, depending on the type, up to 4 10-pole male connectors with
removable screw terminals. (Optionally spring-loaded- or crimp terminals can be used.)
With the screw terminal, as an option there exists the possibility of a mechanical terminal
coding (refer to chapter 11.6; "Terminal Coding").
Connection Diagrams
These are located on the underside of the modules. They indicate examples of the external
circuitry of the modules.
37
Assembly
Locking Clips
By means of these two metal clips the modules are locked onto the TS-35-rail and also
removed.
Display Elements / Front Panel
The number and meaning of the displays on the front panel are, apart from the RY-LED,
different on all modules. While the RY-LED always displays the functional readiness of the
module, the meaning of the other displays is to be taken from the respective description
(SICAM TM I/O Modules).
3.7.2.
Handling
The modules can be installed on the TS35 rail and removed again by hand, without any tools.
For this, the locking clips on the top side of the module are pressed together , the module
coupled with the neighboring module by means of the guides at the corners of the housing
and positioned on the TS35 rail .
For the removal, the locking clips are again pressed together and the module withdrawn with
clips pressed together.
Warning
The connecting and withdrawal of modules is only permitted in a de-energized state. This state is
achieved by interrupting the power supply to the power supply unit and to the peripherals.
38
Assembly
3.7.3.
Connection
Modules that are adjacent to each other are mechanically connected with each other by
means of the guides at the corners of the housing.
Caution
The housing form of older TM modules does not provide sufficient protection against incorrectly positioned
installation. Therefore pay attention to the correct alignment if you install such modules.
It is correct, when with vertical installation position of the system, the lettering on the front
panel can be read from left to right. With horizontal installation position of the system, it must
be possible to read the lettering on the front panel from botton to top.
39
Assembly
3.7.4.
Order
The first two modules are always the power supply module and the peripheral control module.
Afterwards the I/O modules are installed.
Caution
With the last module, to protect the bus a protective cap is to be snapped on. Such a protective cap is
included in the package of every power supply module as standard.
In addition, with vertical installation an end bracket is also to be fitted. This prevents the modules from
shifting due to their own weight.

Introduction
Depending on the protocol elements incorporated in the master control element, SICAM TM
provides different methods of communication (Serial V.28, V.11; Ethernet TCP/IP; Field Bus)
to external data transmission systems.
Serial communication
Point-to-point traffic according to IEC 60870-5-101
Multi-point traffic according to IEC 60870-5-101
Dial-Up Traffic
LAN communication
This chapter describes how these methods of communication can be realized by means of
standard modems and cables.

Attention
With the CP-6003 master control element the danger exists that patch plugs could be fitted incorrectly,
since no mechanical protection exists against distorted installation. This protection is available in CP-6010
and CP-6014.

DCF77 Receiver
The DCF77 receiver is designed for the installation on a TS35 rail and can be slotted directly
on to the master control element (X2) via the 9-pin DSUB-connector.
Via this plug-in connection the module is supplied with 5V and a minute pulse is transmitted to
the CP-6014 for the synchronization.
In addition there is a 2-pole screw terminal (X11 SYNC) available over which, according to
requirements, the minute pulse or a serial time signal can be transmitted.

To supply the optical bus interface module with power, the cover panel must be opened. To
do this the screws marked are to be removed. Then the cover panel can be removed
and the power supply connected .
Hint
If several optical bus interface modules are used in one system, each must be supplied separately with
power. This is also applicable if the modules are connected with each other by means of the interface
connector.
72
Power Supply
7.5.
Fuse Protection
For the fuse protection of the system, miniature circuit breakers 2-pole 2A characteristic C
(standard type: Merlin Gerin C60H 6kA Item No. MER+C60H-C-2A) are recommended. The
number of miniature circuit breakers required depends on the size of the system and
individual requirements. One miniature circuit breaker is recommended for each peripheral
element.

Introduction
The peripheral elements of a SICAM TM system communicate with the master control
element via the serial Ax 1703 peripheral bus. The cabling of this Ax peripheral bus is
dependent on the number of peripheral elements that are to be connected and whether the
connection is to be carried out electrically or/and optically.
The following chapter shows which cabling options are possible between master control
element, bus interface module and peripheral element.
Hint
The electrical Ax bus cable (USB-cable) must be conducted outside the cable ducts provided for the
peripheral cabling.

Cabinet-internal wiring is preferably carried out with plastic-insulated cables according to DIN
VDE 298 T4 2/89. Types: H05V-K (0.5-1mm), H07V-K (1.5-2.5).
The use of lead sleeves is recommended.
The construction of the peripheral connectors is designed for direct peripheral wiring. That
means, that the wiring can be carried out without the use of a routing terminal or other
additional screw terminals.
For the wiring, cable ducts are to be provided at both sides of the modules (refer to chapter
3.2.3, "Space Requirement").
Warning
The activities described in this chapter presume that the grounding connection between SICAM TM and
cabinet or rack has been properly carried out and that these are earthed.
Warning
For modules that operate with voltages >60V (e.g.: DO-6212, DI-6101) care must be taken that
manipulation on the peripheral connectors may only be carried out in a de-energized state.
The reason for this is that when withdrawing the upper peripheral connector under voltage, the external
voltage can be conducted through the lower peripheral connector still connected. The pins of the upper
peripheral connector now freely accessible will now conduct the external voltage.

10.1.
Shielding
Basically the TM-modules are designed in such a way that no shielded cables are required.
Normally, shielded cables are strain-relieved directly after the cabinet/rack entry and then
grounded on a large-surface screening rail installed for this purpose. The terminal modules
themselves provide no possibility of shield clamping.
Exception
For the module TE-6450 used for position acquisition, the screened cable must be conducted interruptionfree from the shaft encoder directly up to the module. There the screening is carried out with special
clamps (screen clamp plate). (For details refer to section 9.3, "TE-6450 Wiring the Data Transmission").
90
10.2.
Hint
The TS35 rail of a complete equipped pripheral element (PS+PE+8 I/O Modules) must be bolted at least
4x on metallic background. This background must be at least 40 cm wide. A mounting plate is
recommended.

Terminal Coding
In order to prevent terminal strips of the lower level of a module (terminal labeling: 1-10 and
31-40) from being interchanged with those of the upper level of the same module (terminal
labeling: 11-20 and 21-30), terminals and male connectors are provided with a mechanical
coding.
A coding that prevents terminal strips of one module from being interchanged with those of
another module can be realized with this method of coding, but is however not carried out at
works.

Click SEARCH
Click on SICAM RTUS OSS EXTRACTOR in the result list to start the download.
When the download is finished you will get the file SICAMOSS.zip.
Unzip this file and save the therein contained file (SICAMOSS.exe) in the root path of the SDcard from which you want to readout the license agreement.
120
Licensing Agreement
Start now SICAMOSS.exe. During the readout process you can see a DOS-window. If the line
note: All files processed is displayed you can close the DOS-window by pressing
any key.
Now you can find on the SD-card the folder OSS with several subfolders. One single folder for
each firmware which uses open source components. Within these subfolders are again folders
for each used firmware revision. These folders contain the corresponding license data.
Path for ReadmeOSS:
SD-Card:\OSS\<Firmwarename>\<Firmwarenumber>\<Revision>\ReadmOSS.htm.
