ABSTRACT

A Flemish bond is a bricklaying pattern which is highly

ornamental in nature, making it popular for courses of brick
which will be visible. Flemish bond was widely used for
residences historically, before bricks were replaced with other
building materials, and in region where brick is still used, it
continues to be popular. It can be used for structural walls in a
home as well as garden walls and partitions. Like other types
of brickwork, it can be worked in contrasting colors, if desired,
to create more visual interest.
Before describing Flemish bond, it may help to provide
information about two terms used in bricklaying: headers and
stretchers. Headers are bricks oriented with the short side
facing out, while stretchers are oriented with the long side
facing out. Understanding the distinction between the two can
help people visualize how Flemish bond looks. There are also
numerous illustrations which can be found through the image

search functions on many search engines, for those who are

more visually inclined.

OBJECTIVE

1. Identify and differentiate the types of bricks with size.

2. Identify and differentiate the use of these kinds of bricks cut.
3. Explain differences and measurement parts bricks.
4. Compare and explain the term in brick work.
5. Describe and types of bonds in brick work.
6. Describes the types characteristics of brick bonding and
regulation arrangement.
7. Define the difference between neat and tidy tie connecting
arise.

APPARATUS

1. PLASTIC BUCKET
Bucket of cement mortar used to fill the finished mixed the and brought to
work for brick. Usually found in yellow bucket.

2. GAUGE ROD
Used to straightener to get a finish on horizontal connections.

3. SPADE
Used to make cement for transport transferred into a bucket.

4. SPIRIT LEVEL
In the brick work, use cedar is an importance thing to keep standing brick
embedded in the right circumstance and flat and can be used as a tool to
get robust and wall straightness.

5. PLASTERING TROWEL
To weld cement and provide additional beautify the walls and in turn resist
the wall or walls from rain and heat.

6. BRICKLAYING TROWEL
The tool is an important tool in the work of laying and bricks and brick
works in the other. It can also be used to cut the rough brick and laying
bricks.

7. BRICK
Brick used to build load bearing wall of the building weather or not to fell
the frame burden. It is also used to make retaining walls toilet and make a
concrete frence. Ue of brick is very important in all aspects of construction
probably will not not run smoothly and resulting quality is not satisfactory
customer.

8. SAND
Brick works mix sand in a mixture of mud and other materials for the
production of bricks.

9. WATER
Water can be used o produce concrete. Water cement ratio than was the main factor
determining the strength of concrete. Ratio w/c will produce stronger concrete, while
the ratio w/c higher yield strength of concrete. Cement is a substance formed by a
mixture of water and cementitious materials, of the aggregate or concrete without
support. Flexibility or viscosity is determined by the water content, the amount
cement paste in the overall mix and physical characteristic ( maximum size, shape
and grape ) aggregates.

L SHAPE

Its consists os a long arm and a shorter one, which meet at an angle 90 degrees
(a right angle). It can also be made of metals like aluminium, which is light and
resistant to rust.

INTRODUCTION
Brick is a building material that is durable and widely useful. It has been around for
hundreds of years and the key to building structures in civil engineering. Definition of
brick is a brick is one block made of clay and measuring 215mm x 65mm x 102.5mm
which, if combined with increased size 10mm mortar layer. And sizes of bricks has
never changed since time immemorial. Brick shaped brick through pressure
usually has facial dimples on the surface of the brick. Brick made by machine
consists of clay is pressed with a hydraulic press. Bricks that have been formed are
dried and then baked. Bricks are also available in various types. Bricks used in the
construction are made of several types of raw materials such as clay, sand and
cement. Among the types of bricks produced and used in local construction is clay
bricks, cement bricks and cement blocks.

PROCEDURE

1. Take the apparatus from the store.

2. Take the sand and mixture. Put in into the wheel in order
to facilitate job.
3. Put water on the cement bucket, then cast the sand above
the surface so that the brick will be stable in it position.
4. After that, make a holle circle in the middle of it, use scoop
to intergrated the sand with water.
5. Start by laying the first corner brick from the left side. Lay
the shorter end of the brick (header) facing you
6. Next, lay two stretcher-bonded bricks (long side of the
bricks) side by side, facing you
7. Lay another header brick. Dont forget to leave a 1 cm (3/8
in) gap between each brick
8. Finish dry-laying the first course of bricks, alternating the
header and stretcher
9. When you are sure of this first course, re-lay the bricks
10.This time, fill in the gaps between the bricks with 1 cm
(3/8 in) mortar joints
11. Check if the course is level with a spirit level

12. For the second course of brickwork, lay the brickwork at

the header end if your first course was a stretcher course,
and vice versa
13. To complete the wall, alternate the headers and
stretchers in every course

DISCUSSION
1. What was achieved through is to conduct
experiment to determine the relationship of brick,

mortar and brick work, which include the

determination of the compressive strength of the
compressive strength of brick and mortar and brick
sample tensile strength used.
2. In this sample of selected brick used to perform the
experiment is kind of super red from the Taju Bricks
Ltd and Super Brown of Clay Bricks Sdn Bhd. While
the mortar used was a mortar designation 1 of B5
4551:1980 in the ratio of cement : white line : sand
is 1:1 / 4:3 and mortar are commonly used in
Malaysia.
3. The student can learn more about this project, gets
more knowledge from this project and gets more
experience when involved this project.

CONCLUSION

1. Introduce the principles of bricks.

2. Indicates the type of bond is used.
3. Demonstrate work neatly tie in the brick work.
4. Introduction the brick work equipment.
5. Can identify measure bricks.
6. Get to know each types of arrangement plays an
importance brick in the construction process.
7. Example: Update tie is very important during and after
restructuring process of brick. Without neat tie, might not
be able to form a wall or solid.
8. There are many ways the order has been removed.
