A critique on Harappan Civilization

1. War of Civilizations-Research into history and archeology has been made a war of
survival among different civilizations. Right from the beginning of history, there have been
two opposing trends. Western religions have been called Semitic by themselves. This means
that world view has been divided into 2 opposing parts. The same meaning is indicated by
daitya in sanskrit. Root verb da=to break into parts. The division is into various ways-whatever
prophet comes, he declares that all earlier knowledge was wrong and it is wiped out. Then his
followers are believers and all others are bad and non-believers. Opposite is Aditi (undivided
or continuous) or Deva (light, knowledge). There have been personal or group jealousies in
deva regions also, but there is general acceptance of alternate theories. Vedas indicate sixfold philosophy, jaina philosophy admits anekanta or infinite possibilities. Bauddha philosophy
is based on verbal logic, so Siddhartha Buddha was called Gautama. this method can not
prove existence of tm or re-birth, but Jtaka stories tell about 100 births of Buddha.
2. History of destruction- Greeks copied knowledge of Egypt and destroyed it at time of
Alexander who was credited with founding Alexandria. That could not be founded within
months, it could be destruction only. Euclid went to Egypt to learn geometry and could write
a book. Appolonius of Perga could not learn conic-section there and had to come to India to
find proper teacher. But, till today, the whole attempt of European scholars is to prove Greek
origin of mathematics and science and deny everything Indian.
Industrial revolution in Europe was actually systematic wiping out of all human beings and
their complete civilization in all other parts of the world. Spain and Portugal completely
wiped out the entire population of central and south America. Though they were more advanced,
they had never faced such treachery and cruelity done in name of Christianity. Wiping out of
north America was completed by the British who also finished every trace of Maoris in Australia
and Pacific islands. The whole African society was broken by exporting 10% of population as
slaves to Americas and keeping the remaining enslaved within the country. Will Durant in his
History of Civilizations has written the same about India where people were not aware of
genocidal wars and had to succumb to Huna-shaka invaders and then Islamic and European (it
is not called Christian in same fashion) invaders. They all practiced utmost cruelity and tried
wiping out complete population. Complete Khokhar populationof 15 lakhs in present west
Punjab was wiped out by Arab armies in 10 year occupation of Sindh. British rule tortured
and murdered entire population of artisans and crores of farmers were killed in name of
revenue collection. In Orissa alone, 1/3 of the population (35 lakhs) was killed in 1865 by
starvation when godowns were overflowing with food-grains. That is called Bengal famine and
for that pious work, Commissioner T. Ravenshaw has been praised like a prophet who gave
the light of education to Oriyas. Ravenshaw college (now university) was formed in his name.
3. So called research-Islamic invaders burnt every possible public library. European
(christian) invaders burnt or looted all possible individual collections. Still some books remained
hidden. To destroy them, they were taken to libraries of Berlin and Oxford by missioneries
and Asiatic societies were formed to destroy them by mis-interpratation. Later on, this became

the declared aim of Boden chair of Oxford university in 1831 to destroy the complete Vedic
culture. For that pious work in service of Christianity, Weber, Muir, Macdonnel, Maxmuller
etc. dedicated their whole life. When. Pt. Sundarlal tried to write impartial history, Indian
Historical Research society was formed for starting a case against his writings and not for any
research. Till today, British loyalists continue crusade against any deviation from British pattern.
The case against him continued from 1920 to 1982 as no falsehood could be prove by loyaists
covering their ignorance under shelter of Marx. The case had to be closed due to deat of
Sundarlal.
Another project of archeology was started with sole aim of proving that Indians were
foreigners in their own country like the Britishers. To prove that Aryans had come from east
Europe or central Asia, excavation was done at first point of entry on Indus banks. People of
that region were happy that Vedas started in their area and started propagating vedic origin
there. But immediately after excavations, main worker Sri Rakhaldas Banerji wrote an article
that it was Indian civilization. For that, he was immediately dismissed by the Director Mortimor
Wheeler-which shows his aim of research.
Till today, so called nationalist scholars are trying to get British approval that Indus civilization
wasVedic. Some have changed the name to Sarasvati civilization.There has been moves to
extend it to east India, but south India remains outside that culture. Presence of tribals also is
not explained.
4. Main defects-(1) The real defect is to prove the superiority of Indian, Chinese, Sumerian,
Egyptian, or Greek civilization as per loyalty. This is not research, but war against truth and
knowledge. In India also, this is reflected in proving that great men and places arefrom home
of the author. Location of capital town does not indicate that all scholars or rulers were from
there. Mauryas were from Mura town in center of iron ore belt of India. Andhra and their
servant Guptas were from Andhra. But there is futile search of imaginary locations of Mauryas
and Guptas near Patna or somewhere near Nepal. Similarly, we completely forget 3 Kalidasa
mentioned by themselves. Poet Kalidasa has written in Jyotirvidabharana that he was under
patronage of Parmar king Vikramditya (82 BC-19 AD), but this book as well as Vikramditya
have ben declared fictitious. All original sources ae to be destroyed or denied to prove falsehood
in name of research. Till today, all the festivals are observed as per rules of Vikrama samvat,
but the same historians have no hesitation in following them. Prof. Virendranath Gupta in his
book Chakya showed that Bhad-hai (main market) of Pataliputra was at Barhat near his
home town Merut. Mandan Mishra and his wife were both from Son river bank with sal forest
nearby. But, so called scholars have no desire to understand any verse in sanskrit and they
prove his residence near Ujjain (Teak forest near Narmada river) or in Mithila with village
trees of short height (darbha)-giving the name Darbhanga.
(2) There is a theory of copper age before iron age. All school students know that copper
metallurgy is more difficult, as it can not be reduced by carbon. But history researchers of any
level have no concern for knowledge. Pet point is to be proved by hook or crook. Iron ore is
clearly seen on surface as murrum, but copper is to be searched below earth surface. Till
today, location of copper mines is matter of guess only. But in ancient times also people knew
gold mines of Zimbabwe (Jmbunada-svara) or Ttamralipti town near copper mines of
Ghatshila. Similarly, it is not possible to make implements with copper or more noble metals
silver and gold. Actually, Satya, tret, dvpara, kali-yugas had been translated as golden,
silver, copper and iron eras by Greek which has made copper era before iron era.

(3) In 1923, Indus inscriptions were not read at all, but, they were declared more authentic
than the whole range of puranas, vedas, jaina and bauddha literature. Then, its time also was
not ascertained, but Maxxmuller gave it time of 1100-700 years, granting 200 years for each
part of Vedas. Later on, he had to deny such absurd conclusions, but Indian devotees still take
it as standard. Even when, there are claims of reading by various Russian and Indian scholars
by most advanced methods, it still remains presumption and fragmented. Itcan not match the
clear and complete reading of texts. Megasthnese has been considered as only authentic record
of ancient history though its fragments have been compiled from qoutes of other writers. Even
in that form, each of points have been falsified-(1) Alexander has been matched with Maurya
in stead of Gupta period, (2)154 generation of Indian kings ruled for 6451 years from Bhu
(father of Sagara), killed in Dionysus invasion to Chandragupta-1 of Gupta period. But this
proves that Indian kings were ruling at leats from 7000 BC and vedas were much earlier. A
single quote from Ancient India by R.C. Mazumdar, general editor of 12 volume Bharatiya
Vidy Bhawan Series proves that he was deliberately writing falsehood in obedience to Wilson
and Vincent Smith-(page 138 of the book)-ndhras were in 800 BC (he has shown their start
from 28 BC in stead of period 833-327 BC of Puras).....Pliny gives size of huge army of
ndhra kings as learnt from Mgasthenese. (he can tell only when he came in Gupta rule who
were servants of ndhra kings). Similarly, only mention about maurya Ashoka in Divyvadna
is that he killed 12000 jaina monks after victory over Kalinga. But, it is told that he became
bauddha to renounce violence after Kalinga war. Hathi-gumpha inscription near Bhubaneswar
is translated and printed on boards, seen by hundreds of tourists every day. It does not mention
about Kalinga war, but casualty/arrest figures are given as 10.5 lakhs which is more than
current strength of Indian army or the entire population of old Kalinga.
(4) Dating-Whatever may be accuracy of radio carbon dating, it gives an error of 10%. It
can also vary with the level of radio-activity in a particular period. The level is 3 times the
normal after 1945 due to atomic bombs. It also varies with sunspot activity whose variations
are known only for past 200 years. We do not know where there were big highs in long term
history. Analysis of 5000 year old Sequoia trees of California indicates higher level of radioactivity 5000 years ago. Was it because Mahbhrata in 3138 BC was a nuclear war depicted
as deluge in all old civilization, or was it due to very high sun spot activity? There have been
traces of ancient radio-activity in sands of west Sahara or Australia. These are swept under
carpet to avoid controversy (or truth). Most of the archeological findings have been distorted
to tally with official view and many adherers of truth had to lose job in Canada and USA.
5. Vedic research-We see only what we want to see. Before reading a single line of
vedas, or mostly without reading at all, we assume that it was written on banks of Indus or
Sarasvat and Vedic world was limited to Haryana only. This is the conclusion of about 500
books/ articles of British era quoted in Sarasvat Gha Sabhyat by Sri Mahendra Naina
Singh. It is not his fault-that is the honest analysis of British period research. Some persons in
extreme devotion to Marx try to prove that is were eating beef. There vedic study is complete
when they find three words meaning-beef, eating and i. If exact word is not found, its meaning
can be twisted, called nirukta method by some who want to take out meaning as per their
scheme. There are two misnomers. There was always crime and deviation in each village and
family, but that may not indicate the ideal to be followed. Grammer and Nirukta are not same.
Grammer is formation of words from root verbs by prefix and suffix. But all possible

combinations are not allowed. It is limited to meaningful word and sentence. Nirukta derives
the word as per scientific definition as per branch of knowledge or usage in an area. That is
called words as per sansth (institution) in Manusmti (1/23) etc. In plains of north India,
agriculture is main thing based on river systems, so main rivers of this region are mentioned.
Even here, there is struggle to indicate that Irvat of Burma (Myammar) is Rv of Punjab.
White elephant of Indra (Lokapla of east)was from land beyond Irvat of Burma, so it was
called Airvata. ta is area, so this land was called rya. In south India, internal and external
trade was more important, so it was called Dravia. In same way, central plains of Europe are
rya and west coast is Druid (Dravia).
In 1930, a long article was published by my father late Sri Chandra Shekhar UpadhyayPrchna rya Itihsa k Bhaugolika dhra. That is now the first chapter of books on Indian
history. As per the trend of that era, it indicated that rya had come from central Asia as the
vedic words were common there. Any other view could not have been published. Common
words in both parts can mean both ways-ryans (whatever it means) might have gone from
India or central Asian people had learnt it from India. But only one of the 3 alternate lines had
to be accepted asper British theory of free research. On my protest about rejecting alternatives
without any reason, he did not talk for 3 months. However, refutation does not need much
education. At the age of 12, with rudimentary knowledge of mantras used in pj, I could
prove that certain key words of Vedas are only in Varanasi region only as per samsth-rav
for respect, Be (vartate)-are used only in Varnasi region in Bhojpuri-extensively used by
Tulasidas,who has also suffered in regional war of shifting his place to Banda district of UP.
Similarly, about 18 words used in context of Indra are used only in Oriya. They have same
meaning inThailand also, from where elephant of Indra came. It is not possible to explain all
the words as per context and political geographical features. But only one verse of Rigveda is
explained to indicate dravia origin of vedas. This is called veda-mt-skta, though there is
a separate skta in Atharva-veda (19/71) of that name-

One Supara entered the ocean and created the worlds. He transformed it by thought and
loved the land as his mother and and land also loved him as her child.
Supara is a conscious being which by his sankalpa (desire) created worlds of 5 levels from
the ocean of uniform field called rasa. On earth also men entered sea and managed the coastal
land. largest cultivation in south India coast is in ndhra, so the cultivators there are called
Reddy (rehi). As Supara had entered oceans also, in all coastal states, naval chief was
called Suvann (Supara)nyaka. That was Soprano in Spain and France.
Another feature of language sansth is existing since about 20,000 years. Brahm was in
Pushkara (Bukhara of Uzbekistan, old Persian empire), 120 west of Ujjain at 350 north latitude.
Till today, region north-east from that is writing from top to bottom, east part writes frrom left
to right, and west part writes from right to left. ngirasa Bhaspati was from China. He created
language indicating signs for each word, which is used still in China. In kveda (1/164/25) it
is called-ghmjam na_o `mo_Z-i.e. script is of thousands letters beyond Vyoma, i.e Tibet.
ukrchrya criticized it as a deadly disease, so Indra and Vyu, broke the words into parts of
letters (vara) and syllables (akara), due to which it was called vykaraa. References from
Sanskta Vykaraa stra k Itihsa-by Pt Yudhishira Mmnsaka, 1994-Ramlal Kapur Trust,

Sonipat, Haryana)at pages 66-71. The scipt contained signs of 33 devas as 33 consonants and
49 maruts as 49 letters with vowels. It beaing a nagara (city, permutation) of devas in symbols,
it was called Deva-ngar. It is still used from land of Indra in east to land of Marut in northwest. For starting that script, Indra was called Lekharabha. It was extended with ayogavha
(unclassified) letters and vowels of 3 meters (pluta) to make Brhm lipi of 63 or 64 letters
(Pini ik). That script remains only as Telugu and Kannada in south. Tamil was a shorthand
of Brhm for military purpose (like Urdu in Islamic period). It merged first 4 letters of each
group in Brahmaya (Brhm), so it was called Subrahmaya in about 16,000 BC when pole
shifted from Abhijit, (Mahbhrata, vana parva 230/8-10) and north solstice was in Dhanih.
Then year started with var (rains), so it was called vara.
6. Worldwide Civilization-In present era also, USA may be advanced politically and
economically, but in India also educated persons are of same level and many of scientists of
India are in NASA who can not get reservation in India. We can not say that modern Physics
started in Germany, Britain or USA. Similarly, in all ages, general level of science was same all
over the world. There are many indications of advancement and world links-(1) Location and
survey of mines all over world, (2) Calculation of solar eclipse all over the world at leat 7000
BC in Mexico etc. which is beyond comprehension of best brains in physics and math even
today. (3) Accurate measures of solar system (not defined or measured till today), galaxy and
cosmic structures- 7 lokas, heavens all over world. (4) Universal zodiac and star system. (5)
Cardinal points at 4 quadrants of earth from Ujjain, marks of ancient time zones as places of
sun, pyramids, (6) Galaxy is 1014 times earth defined to be of 1000 yojana diameter. Thus
1017 yojana is largest structure and 18 digits have ben considered sufficient in Mexico and by
ryabhaa. (7) All astronomy texts have written that north pole is in water surrounded by
ocean and south pole in land surronded by ocean. This was known only abou 30 years ago. (8)
Screts of yoga used in all parts by saints are still not understood. (9) Pulastya, Kpya, Brkali
(Berkeley ? in atapatha Brhmaa12/3/2/5) etc were not from India.
7. Harappa civilization-The names Harappa (place of bones) and Moin-jo-daro (place of
dead) indicate that it was a scene of great wars. One was wiping out of Khokhar tribe by early
Islamic invaders. North west India has always sufered the brunt of attack from west Asia. In
central Asia itself, places of large wars have been called Armaka (armagaddon) Vaila, Mahvaila (gveda 1/133)-meaning places of burying dead, large burials. Such place was called
Armenia. West Asia also has been places of Attack-Dionysus in 6777 BC, Alexander in 326
BC recorded by Megasthenese. There was attack by Assyrians in about 800 BC which was
countered by federation under Shudraka in 756 BC. Finally, Chhamna of Delhi wiped out
Nineve-Asur capital in 612 BC which was start of Shaka-kla in Bhatsamhit (13/3). The
calender chart from 61,902 BC has been explained in my book Snkhya-siddhnta (Nag
Publishers, 2006). Prior to Asura attack, capital of Paavas was shifted from Hastinapur to
Kausahmbi at time of Nichaku, 7th from Parikita, i.e. in about 2750 BC. That appears to be
a time of great climatic change when Sarasvat had dried up. Just 250 years before that,
Janamejaya had destroyed Ngas centered in Takail (Takaka Nga) as a retaliation of
murder of his father Parikita by Ngas. Two reasons of drying up of Sarasvat are given-(1)
Bhagratha (in about 6450 BC) shifted major part of glaciers to Gang in east. That reduced
volume of Sarasvat. (2) Wars on northwest frontier at end of Parkita rule might have destroyed
the forest cover in higher reaches which totally dried the river.
