DRI... Your HVAC partner for sustainable Airport Buildings

Airports can be notoriously challenging for HVAC design engineers. The 24/7 nature of operations, the need to provide tight
temperature and humidity control in specific areas and strict ventilation requirements to prevent the spread of airborne infection, and the need for it all to run as efficiently as possible all conspire to make the design engineers job a tough one. The HVAC
engineers, thus, have to meet the challenges of designing and building structures and facilities which will meet the stringent
demands for air quality as well as cost effectiveness.

A ventilating device equipped with an efficient energy
recovery wheel is the first choice of an HVAC engineer.
The air, exhausted takes with it, the energy used to condition it. The energy, so lost, can be recovered with the aid of Energy
Recovery Wheels and used to pre-condition incoming fresh air and thus, save energy.
DRI makes this possible without adding tonnage or significant increase in energy cost and gives you the triple advantage.

Better IAQ Energy Saving Humidity Control

DRI has the vast experience of installing Fresh Air HVAC Systems at various prestigious airports around the world. These Systems
are successfully assuring safe, comfortable and efficient operations, while positively impacting financial performance. They
also assist in enhancing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ), maintaining desired temperature and humidity and increasing productivity.
DRI Fresh Air HVAC Systems also help in achieving the sustainability goals. They provide substantial Green Building LEED Points for

The Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT-KLIA) is an extension of the existing facilities of the KLIA.
It was opened in March 2006 and initially has a capacity of 10 million passengers annually.
It has undergone expansion works and now able to cater 15 million passengers annually. In
Nov 2006, LCCT-KLIA was voted CAPA Low Cost Airport of the Year in the CAPA Aviation
Awards for Excellence.
It is equipped with EcoFresh Energy Recovery Wheels to provide healthy indoor air quality to users. EcoFresh Heat Wheels use
desiccant Molecular Sieve 3 (EcoSorb 300) coated/used on aluminum substrate. This limits the cross contamination to
absolute minimum and ensure exclusion of contaminants in the air. These wheels are well known to provide industry's highest
recovery/performance.
The EcoFresh Heat Recovery Wheel, recovers total energy (sensible as well as latent) to meet all the requirements of Indoor
Air Quality (IAQ), humidity control and energy savings.
DRI has supplied 11 units of Ecofresh Heat Recovery Wheel have been used in this airport to pre-cooled 250,000 CMH fresh air.
Total energy being recovered by using HRW units is around 650 USRT.
Incorporation of EcoFresh Heat Wheels into the air-conditioning system means more outdoor air at lower energy cost
(reduced chiller and boiler/exhaust load).

Dubai International Airport (IATA: DXB, ICAO: OMDB)

international airport serving Dubai.
In 2011, Dubai Airport was awarded as the Best Airport in
Middle East of the Airport Service Quality Awards by Airports
Council International and most improved airport in the
Middle East.
In 2013, Dubai International Airport was featured in a 10 part
documentary series calledUltimate Airport Dubaithat aired
on National Geographic.
Dubai International Airport has four terminals. Terminal 1 has
one concourse, Terminal 2 is set apart from the other two
main buildings and Terminal 3 is divided into Concourse A
and B. The cargo terminal is capable of handling 3 million
tonnes of cargo annually and a general aviation terminal
(GAT) is close by. In 2015, a fourth concourse will open
(Concourse D) and will see all airlines currently operating

from concourse C shift operations there. Thus, concourse A,

B, and C will become part of Terminal 3 and concourse D will
be part of Terminal 1.
DRI has supplied 44 units of Energy Recovery Wheels for the
Project. These units help to maintain Indoor Air Quality (IAQ)
requirements and recover energy from exhaust air, resulting
in considerable reduction in installed tonnage and utility bills.
They also assist in enhancing IAQ, maintaining desired
temperature and humidity and increasing productivity.

Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is the primary

international airport in Mumbai, India. It is second busiest
airport in the country, and was ranked 48th busiest airport in
world by Airports Council International in 2013. The airport
has five operating terminals spread over an operational
area of 1,160 hectares (2,900 acres) and handles more than
780 aircraft movements per day. The airport handled a
record 51 movements in one hour on 16 September 2014.In
2011, the airport was ranked the third-best in the world in the
2540 million passengers category by Airports Council
International.
The new T2 terminal building operates Multiple Aircraft Ramp
System (MARS) stands and swing gates, so that a single stand
can accommodate either one wide body aircraft or two
narrow body aircraft, in either domestic or international
configuration. The new terminal is connected by the six-lane
Sahar Elevated Access Road to the Western Express
Highway. A metro rail link to the terminal is also planned.
The new terminal has around 21,000 square meters of retail
space, lounges and travel services, over 5,000 square meters
of landscaping and a multi level car park for 5,000 cars. It has
192 check-in counters and 60 immigration counters for

departing passengers, and 12 baggage carousels and 76

immigration counters for arriving passengers. To transfer
passengers across its four levels, the building has 48
escalators and 75 elevators. The terminal also features 42
travelators.
DRI is privileged to be associated with the Project by
