Khan
Maru is also a small hamlet situated 4.5 km to the east of Jhandi village in
the Gomal Plain. Ihsan Ali and Gul Rahim Khan in 1998 99, excavated the
two sites. They are termed as Maru I and Maru II. The former has two
cultural phases, Tochi/Gomal Phase and Kot Dijian whereas the latter has Kot
Dijian and Harappan phases The excavations at Maru II yielded typical
Harappan pottery, stone tools, and the first evidence of a Harappan seal and
burnt bricks of standardized form.
