I Still Havent Found-U2 Notes

Activity type: gap fill.

Grammar: Present Perfect Simple, with still.

Time: 20 mins.

1) Write the following verbs on the board:

believe break carry climb crawl feel find - hold kiss - loose (note:
the correct verb in loosen) run - scale speak
2) Play the song, students number the verbs in the order they hear them, in any form.
Key: 1. climb 2. run 3. crawl 4. scale 5. find 6. kiss 7. feel 8. speak
9. hold 10. believe (in the song this verb first appears at this point, on the gapped
worksheet it is number 13) - 11. break 12. loose 13. carry
3) Give each student a copy of the worksheet. Play the song. Students try to fill in the blanks.
4) Point out the construction of the verb forms (note that the correct Past Participle for speak
is spoken. Point out the singers artistic license, both here and with the verb loosen). If
you are using this song as an introduction to the Present Perfect, students may not be
aware of the use of the auxiliary have and the Past Participle.
5) Play the song again. Students complete the text.
6) Allow them to check their answers with other students, and then play the song again.
7) Correct, and sing together.
