Discussion

This mini project has been decided to manage a simple watering plant system using electrical
function which is Arduino. The designed watering system has been set up using all the above
mentioned components including the circuit as in diagram. First of all, the water pump is
detected as not functional when testing the programming. This is because the water pump is not
suitable to be submerged under water. The water pump is then being placed outside the water
tank. Furthermore, the water pump is needed at least 12 Volt supply to be work but the Arduino
set is just supply only up to 5 Volt. This shows that the water pump is needed external power
source and a power adapter has been used to supply 12 Volt to the water pump. Next, the water
hose is pointed far from the soil moisture sensor in the flowerpot. This is due to prevent the water
jet direct contact with the soil moisture sensor. This will lead the soil will not have watered
properly. This also could prevent the soil moisture sensor from corrode and prolong the lifespan.
Moreover, when the soil sensor detects the moisture of the soil is low, the water pump is set to
turn on for 3 second. This is because to prevent the water from flooded in the flowerpot and
makes the soil sensor work precisely.

Conclusion
As the conclusion, the objective of this mini project to make an auto watering plant system is
clearly understood and successful. Plants can be live any space by adding a sense of airiness and
life. They will shrivel up and die if not water them regularly. So this system is suitable to those
who love to keep potted plants in their house and forgot to watering them. Using a soil sensor,
and an Arduino-controlled water pump, the system will auto watering itself when the plants is
dry. Instead of remembering to water plants when the soil goes dry, its only have to remember to
once and a while refill the water reservoir. In this way, this will decrease obligation to these
plants and put it off to a much later date. Perhaps further iterations of this device can be
connected to a rain barrel so that no need to worry about refilling the reservoir, and the entire
system will be fully automated.
