The current student assignment plan shows an increase in high poverty

low performing schools and the academic achievement of black and
brown children shows GAPS have widened! Our current school board
members voted and supported the assignment plan and they want MO
MONEY!?

Good Morning:
I found this article to be very interesting and wondered why it took an outsider to
make such an observation about our school system and the school board's efforts
to establish diverse schools?!
This article is a public embarrassment for those of us who marchedand were apart
of the earlier demonstrations to maintain diversity and balanced schools when
republicans were in control of the school board.
WE sit back and say nothing about the school assignments now that we have a
democratic school board!!?? Schools have reverted back to segregated student
population, high poverty schools and have an increase in our low performing
schools and low academic performance for black and brown children! More
MONEY, Mo Money from the County Commissioners! Is it all about MONEY! Show
me the MONEY!

Who is accountable for this?!

This did not happened under the leadership of former superintendents Bill McNeal
and Del Burns!
"Wake County civil rights advocates have not made sufficient case that more
desgregagtion is the best way to improve black and or Hispanic achievement and
that large scale desegregation is a realistic goal and can be accomplished without
the same controversy and resistance that occured in the 1970s.
More effort to be made to balance schools in here in Wake County when the first
draft is presented for the 2017-18 is presented to the WCPSS BOE."

Hi Rita,
Thank you for taking a stand for justice and educational equality for all children!
It is hard to understand why our civil rights leaders, community advocates and elected officials
continue to allow our children to attend high poverty low performing schools without mandating
educational equality for all children.
Each year WCPSS seeks additional funding from Wake County Board of Commissioners to help meet
the needs of all students and yet the data clearly show that students who attend high poverty and low
performing schools are not proficient in core subject areas.
In addition, Wake County Public Schools receive federal money for low income students.
CONCERT is an after school program for black students who live in Southeast Raleigh and is federally
funded with governing board members that live in other parts of the county.
We must hold all of our elected officials for serving and meeting the educational needs of all children
who attend the Wake County Public School System.
Thank you for taking a stand!
