A Data Analysis of User Perception

towards credit cards

The Frequency results show a wide range of information with the user being salaried and all in
the 26-35 age group and having used credit cards for the last 5-10 Years. We get the following
information from the data
Most Users feel the need to purchase credit cards because they feel it is easier to make
payments
But they are not sure of brands while they are applying for the credit cards
Its not often that they use credit cards for shopping but with the Indian economy getting
better the disposable income is getting higher and the average middle class Indian is also
using credit cards for shopping slightly often.
But since the usage of credit cards in India is relatively new and with credit card thefts
happening frequently the users feel using credit cards to be slightly risky
However, most of the respondents dont feel that credit cards will give them a feeling of
increased Buying power as they have the nagging conscience that they have to pay this
money back.
These Users have face issues with credit cards regarding the error in statement slightly
often.
They are also not sure whether having cash is better option or not
They are however sure that frequent calls do bother them. They are also sure that whether
they want or not, people with credit cards do tend to spend more than usual
They also think that with growing awareness the youth is also becoming aware about
credit card usage.

Reliability
The initial reliability including all the factors was .576 which made it slightly unreliable.

Why did you feel the need to

purchase credit card?

However, if we were to discount factors such as

Age
Gender
Occupation
Why did they feel the need to purchase credit cards
Why think today's youth spend irresponsibly due to increased credit card usage?
Have you faced any issues while using credit cards

The elimination of the first four factors is because we want to focus on users who have already
purchased Credit cards and are now using so focusing on the need to purchase credit cards wont
help. Also we have a set homogenous sample of both male and female in the salaried category
who have an age bracket of 26-35 Years so we already know the data.
The elimination of the final factor is to focus on the issues faced while using credit cards and
whether this has changed their perception of credit cards, not to see whether they have faced
issues or not.
Thus after elimination of the above factors we get a Cronbachs Alpha of .703 which made the
test reliable as shown below:
