Purpose

This manual provides information about MML commands terminal. This manual also explains the procedure of executing NetNumenM31 commands, retrieving history commands, and clearing
or saving results and history commands in MML terminal.

Intended
Audience

This manual is intended for technical managers, engineers and


technicians who perform different operations on NetNumenM31
Mobile Network Element Management System.

MML Terminal Introduction


MML terminal facilitates users by providing GUI based command
inputs. MML terminal also provides command line inputs to execute commands that are not available in GUI, such as internal
commands that are not available for customers.
Figure 1 shows panes in MML terminal interface.

The parameters and buttons between MML Message Area and


Command Parameters Pane are described as follows:

Code shows the current command being executed and lists previously executed commands in the drop-down list.

and
buttons are used to navigate between previous
and next commands.

Execute button is used execute the current command.

MML message area has three tabs, that is, Command Execute
Result, Help and History Command, and they are describes, as
follows:

Command Execute Result displays the result after the command is executed.
Help provides complete help for every command including
function, syntax, input/output parameters, and example.
History Command displays the list of previously executed
commands showing execution time, result, and command
contents.

Navigating to MML Terminal


Short Description
Prerequisites

To log into NetNumenM31 client and navigate to MML Terminal


Prior to performing this task, meet the following requirements:

NetNumenM31 Client software is installed successfully

NetNumenM31 server is started completely

Oracle database is running normally

Context

Perform the following steps to log into NetNumenM31 client and


open the main interface:

Steps

1. Start NetNumenM31 client by double-clicking Run client


button on the desktop, as shown in Figure 2, or by selecting
Run client from the Start menu, as shown in Figure 3.

2. Enter the User Name, Password and Server Address in the


Login interface, as shown in Figure 4 and click OK.

3. Upon successful login to NetNumenM31, Topology Management module appears by default, as shown in Figure 5. If
user enters wrong message NetNumen system display warning
message to enter correctly.

4. On the menu bar, click View > MML Terminal, to open MML
Terminal as shown in Figure 6.

MML facilitates engineering staff in performing their tasks. MML
provides command line inputs to execute various single or batch
commands. This section explains the various functions that can
be performed in MML terminal.

Executing NetNumen Commands


in MML
Short Description
Prerequisites

To execute NetNumen commands in MML


To execute MML commands, meet the following requirements.

The NetNumen server is started successfully

The NE agent to be operated is activated

One activated NE agents icon should be in blue color

Context
Steps

User must have right to execute commands


User must enter correct command

Perform the following steps to execute commands in MML:


1. Login to NetNumenM31 client.
2. On the menu bar, click View > MML Terminal, to open MML
Terminal.
3. Select the root node, that is, NetNumen from the NE tree, as
shown in Figure 7.

4. All commands specific to NetNumen appears in command


tree, as shown in Figure 8. Select the required command.

5. Enter the parameter values as shown in Figure 9 and click on


Execute.

Executing OMM Commands in MML

To execute OMM commands in MML

Perform the following steps to execute commands in MML:
1. Login to NetNumenM31 client.
2. On the menu bar, click View > MML Terminal, to open MML
Terminal.
3. Select the NE, from the NE tree, as shown in Figure 11.

Note:
NE tree contains all the NEs NetNumen is connected with; including GSM and WCDMA. Figure 11 shows WCDMA NEs. However, GSM NEs also appear in the list, if exists.

4. All commands specific to NE appears in command tree, as


shown in Figure 12. Select the required command.

Obtaining Command Help

To obtain a command help in MML

Perform the following steps to execute commands in MML:
1. Login to NetNumenM31 client.
2. On the menu bar, click View > MML Terminal, to open MML
Terminal.
3. Select the node whose command help is required, from the NE
tree, as shown in Figure 15.

help is required and click Help tab under the result area of the

logged-out after the execution of commands.
Perform the following step to execute commands in MML:
1. Click on History Commands tab under the result area of the
interface, as shown in Figure 18.

Executing Commands Manually in

To execute commands manually in MML

Perform the following steps to execute commands manually in
MML:
1. Login to NetNumenM31 client.
2. On the menu bar, click View > MML Terminal, to open MML
Terminal.
3. Enter commands in commands area, as shown in Figure 20,
and click on Execute or press F5 on the keyboard. If user enters wrong command, NetNumen system displays Command does
not exist message, as shown in Figure 21

1. Login to NetNumenM31 client.
2. On the menu bar, click View > MML Terminal, to open MML
Terminal.
3. Click on Search tab under command tree area, as shown in
Figure 23.

1. Right click on the result area and then select Save, as shown
in Figure 26.

To execute commands through Telnet

Context

Perform the following steps to execute commands through Telnet:

1. Execute the command prompt. Click Start > Run and enter
cmd, as shown in Figure 44. Click OK.

2. In command prompt window, type telnet <ip address>


2121 and press Enter.

Note:
Replace <ip address> with the actual IP address of NetNumen Server.
3. Telnet gets connected with NetNumen and prompts for username and password, as shown in Figure 45. Log in by typing
username and password.

4. The authentication succeeds and user is logged on to NetNumen. Type command and press Enter, as shown in Figure 46.

Context

Perform the following steps to execute commands through Telnet:

1. Execute the command prompt. Click Start > Run and enter
cmd, as shown in Figure 47. Click OK.

2. In command prompt window, type telnet <ip address>


2121 and press Enter.

Note:
Replace <ip address> with the actual IP address of NetNumen Server.
3. Telnet gets connected with NetNumen and prompts for username and password, as shown in Figure 48. Log in by typing
username and password.
