Welcome!
Thank you for showing interest in the ZeldaInformer Pokémon League! It is an attempt by a
bunch of joint-Zelda-and-Pokémon-fans at www.zeldainformer.com to create a real life
experience somewhere in the realm of similarity to its in-game counterpart. So without much
further ado, may I cordially invite you all to the ZeldaInformer Pokémon League!

Practical Rules
Just as the leagues in the videogames and the anime, the ZeldaInformer League is
separated into two sections:
First let’s look at what makes up the Gym Leader section of the League.

Gym Leaders
There are eight Leaders in the ZeldaInformer League, just waiting to be challenged for
their exclusive ZeldaInformer League Gym Badges. Just as in the games, the Gym
Leaders have to be faced in a certain order, however there is some leeway. Basically, we
suggest that you challenge the Gyms in numerical order, but if you are stuck, or really
want to change Gyms, then you can under the following circumstances:
Each Gym Leader has its own theme, which may be an elemental type, a keyword, etc.
and may only be battled at certain times each week, much like the Gym Leader rematches
in HeartGold and SoulSilver (times will be given in GMT), and will be in the Wi-Fi Club
Room during this time unless otherwise stated on the ZeldaInformer homepage. A Gym
Leader is only obligated to battle each challenger once per time-slot. Players may request
rematches if they lose, but it is up to the individual Gym Leader whether or not to accept.
If a challenger is unable for whatever reason to make any of the times listed, a Private
Message may be sent directly to the Gym Leader in question requesting a different time.
It is at the Gym Leader’s discretion whether or not to arrange a new time, and their
decision is final. If you believe you are being treated unfairly in this regard, please PM
the coordinator, River Zora, explaining your situation.
Elite Championship
The first player to gain every ZeldaInformer League Gym Badge becomes ‘Champion’.
Any time another player gains the eight badges, they must challenge the reigning
Champion to a battle of the existing Champion’s choice of style. This battle will be
arranged between the Champion and the challenger in question, but its happening and
result must be made known to the coordinator, River Zora via Private Message.

I’m the one who started all this hoo hah! I’ve been playing Pokémon since Red Version,
and now more than a decade on I consider myself pretty good. Not as good as those who
lock themselves in EV battles for 12 hours a day, but still hopefully a challenge for the
average player, and maybe some above average players too! I’m mainly a collector, not a
battler, and pride myself on my Pokédex ever nearing completion, as well as my
complete TM and Berry collections. Oh, and I thought I’d mix things up a bit by
throwing in a double battle to deal with! Look forward to seeing you.

Technical Rules
Pre-Qualifications
Players may use Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver Version
Game Cards. Game cards of any region are accepted to compete regardless of where the
player is situated.
• Each player must send their Trainer ID, in-game name, real world name (this may
be fictional if you want your identity to remain hidden, but must be separate from
your in-game name), forum username and most importantly, Friend Code.
• Each player must enter up to 10 Pokémon on his or her Team Information Sheet.
See the Ineligible and Restricted Pokémon lists below for more information on
which Pokémon are eligible for the tournament.
• Each player must enter 0-10 held items on his or her Team Information Sheet.
• Players may only use Pokémon and held items listed on their Team Information
Sheet during the tournament.
• The Pokémon and held items listed on a player's Team Information Sheet may not
be changed once the player has registered for the event.
• Players may change which held item a Pokémon is using between matches so long
as both the Pokémon and the held item are listed on the player's Team Information
Sheet.
• All other information on the form is optional.
Battle Rules
Each match is played using the Pokémon Wi-Fi Club, found in the basement of the
Pokémon Center in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold or SoulSilver
Versions. For each battle the player must choose up to six of his or her ten registered
Pokémon and may equip them with any of their registered items in any combination. This
combination is hidden from the Gym Leader prior to battle. The Battle Type may be
single or double depending on the Gym Leader being challeneged. Check the
ZeldaInformer League Guide (attached) for the Gym Leaders and their battle styles. Each
Gym Leader and challenger must adhere to the following additional rules.
• The Wi-Fi Battle rules have an auto-level feature, and ZeldaInformer League
battles will set all Pokémon taking part to level 50 for the duration of the battle
with the following parameters:
o Each Pokémon retains all of the moves that it knew before being auto-
leveled
o Pokémon that evolve after level 50 do not devolve when auto-leveled
o The Pokémon's stats are adjusted to what its level 50 stats would be
Page 7 of 10

• A player's team may not contain two Pokémon with the same National Pokédex
number.
• A player’s team must have no more than two Pokémon from the restricted list (see
below)
• Each Pokémon on a player's team may use held items, though no two Pokémon
may hold the same item during battle. Allowed items include held items from
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions as well as from earlier video games,
including Berries 1-64. The Soul Dew item may not be used.
• Players may not enter two Pokémon with the same nickname.
• Players may not enter a Pokémon nicknamed with the name of another Pokémon
character (for example, a Charizard nicknamed "Cleffa").
Pokémon Restrictions
Players may use Pokémon found in the Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold
or SoulSilver Versions’ National Pokédex, from 001 to 493, including those Pokémon
imported from earlier video games, with the exception of the Pokémon listed below.

Move Restrictions
Pokémon may only use moves (including those learned in an earlier video game) that
have been learned through one of the following methods:
• By leveling up
• By TM or HM
• As an Egg move, through breeding
• From a Move Tutor
• Already learned by a Pokémon that was received at an official Pokémon event or
promotion
• Already learned by a Pokémon that was received from another Pokémon game
(such as the Pikachu that knows Surf from Pokémon Battle Revolution)
• By Smeargle's "Sketch" move (limited to the above moves learned by Pokémon
from 001 to 493)
Other Information
The use of external devices to alter the Pokémon in a player's party is expressly
forbidden. The ZeldaInformer League is here to reward hard work and good strategy, not
knowledge of code.
A player should notify the staff immediately if he or she believes that there is a problem
with an opponent's Pokémon.
The decision whether or not to ban a player on suspicion of illegally obtained Pokémon is
down to the joint decision of the Gym Leaders. This decision is final.
Banned players have all of their badges stripped from them, and may not attempt the
challenge again for four weeks.
