TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Meter Test Bench has the following components, accessories and facilities :
a.

The test bench is of welded sheet metal constructions and painted stove gray, consisting of a left desk
base, a right desk base, a testing table with instruments panel and a built - in / detachable meter
suspension rack, a three piece table top finished with laminate, permitting quick inspection and servicing.
The test bench cabinet and the desk base together holds all the components and parts such as control
transformers, regulating devices inside and has only the insulated control knobs mounted on the outside.
The layout of the desk is such that voltage selection, regulation and indication controls are on the right side
( as the operators facing the bench ) and those of the current circuit on the left side. The height of the desk
is such that the operators standing on the floor have easy access to the readings of the meters and to all
screws and parts for adjustments ( figure of bench and rack are attached ).

b.

Independent voltage and current circuits with external control for independent operation and combined
operation of the voltage and current circuits are provided with protective fuses against short circuit.

c.

The current circuit is provided with suitable capacity transformer tapped to give 1A, 5A, 10A and 20A. Fine
control for any intermediate value is provided.

d.

There are provisions to carry out starting current test using the selector switch for different values of current
as per your requirements.

e.

Coarse and fine controls are provided to adjust current to any desired value in any of the above ranges.

f.

With the current regulator, a smooth variation of current from 0 - 120% of the set range is possible

g.

The volt - ampere capacity ( VA burden ) of the current circuit is sufficient in all ranges to supply the rated
current to meters as specified above when connected with their current coils in series and also the
instrument on the test bench.

h.

The potential circuit is provided with potential transformer of 100 VA capacity having fine control
adjustment between 0 to 300 volts to meet the full requirement of the test bench.

i.

A three phase static type phase shifting transformer with primary transformer is provided for varying the
relative phase angle between current and voltage from 90 degree LAG to 90 degree LEAD. The phase
shifting transformer is mounted inside the control desk and the rotary type selector switch is on the outside
of the desk for operation.

j.

A multi ratio precision current transformer of accuracy class 0.2 with primary ranges as above and
secondary 5 amps with switch for selective connections of a single phase R.S.S. meter / wattmeter in the
current circuit is provided.

k.

Facilities for mounting the R.S.S. meter / wattmeter etc. In the test bench is provided in the test circuit.

l.

The bench is provided with 1 No. moving iron AC Ammeter of size 144 x 144 mm square flush mounting
panel type with mirror scale, knife edge pointer, class 0.5% and 1 No. moving iron A. C. Voltmeter range 0
- 300 Volts of size 144 x 144 mm square flush mounting panel type with mirror scale, knife edge pointer,
class 0.5% and 1 No. single phase single element dynamometer type power factor meter of size 144 x 144
mm flush mounting panel type with mirror scale, knife edge pointer, class +2 degree and scale 90 degree
LAG - Unity - 90 degree Lead is provided.

m.

Necessary pilot lamps - 1 No. for the current circuit, 1 No. for the voltage circuit and 1 No. for the input
supply ON indication is provided.

n.

The bench is supplied with detachable meter suspension rack made out of sheet metal and painted gray
and fitted with voltage and current terminals and wired appropriately. The height of the rack is so designed
that the height of the meters fixed for testing will be within the reach of the person who is testing the
meters, and the testing can be done conveniently without using any ladders etc.
